My Little Pony Father of Harmony Part 1
Sitting in a field of grass, not far from the beach of a vast lake, Twilight Sparkle was reading through a book. The air had a nice breeze, which caused her ear to twitch. She was vacationing with her five friends in order to escape for some fun. That was the first reason behind this trip. The second reason was to do some research.
Twilight was busy reading a book about mythological creatures. She had a lot to read up on, what with the Crystal Empire returning, and having a near endless supply of books about Equestria's history prior to Discords rule. Becoming the 'Alicorn Princess of Magic and Friendship' allowed her to gain full access to all the Empires archives. The Crystal Empire was said to contain all of ponykinds history within it's libraries. Sadly, most of the historical documents were destroyed, leaving only a little bit of historical document on Equestria's notably obscure history.
The contents eventually lead to her having an icepack on her head.
She was reading a book. Well, more like a mythologized series of events titled 'Prometheus Bound'. The story told of the first three ponies to ever exist. Prometheus the Pegasus, Atlas the Unicorn, and Epimethius the Earth Pony. Together, they created a race of intelligent bipeds with the Fire of Friendship. The three sisters however, had conflicting beliefs on this race, and a three way civil war ensued. This race of bipedal beings were defined by their lack of magic. Disloyal, dishonest, pessimistic, sadistic, greedy and amagical. They were refereed to with derogatory terms such as Everfree, or Forsaken Folk. In the end, Prometheus, who aimed to free her creations from her unicorn sisters dominance, was chained to a rock for all eternity. That rock was named 'Prometheus Comet'. Legend said that ever since, Prometheus Comet has become a beautiful pink comet that orbits the planet, elliptically.
Or so goes the legend.
''Pfft. As if such creatures could have actually existed,'' said Twilight ''I mean, come on! I'm seeing inconsistency after inconsistency. And seven thousand years ago, really?'' She couldn't care less about such legends. Sure, she believed the Mare in the Moon, but that had consistency and sensibility. Unlike this fairy tale, which was full of holes and contradictions.
Simply trying to continue made her feel like somepony was banging a hammer against her head, causing her to wince in pain and place a hoof of her forehead. That's right, the book was so bad, that it gave Twilight a headache.
She decided to take a break from the book, and placed it back in the satchel on her back.
Since yesterday was the last night at the hotel, she needed to run one last test, so she thought it would be a good time to see what her friends where up to, and walked over to the coast.
She could see Pinkie Pie playing in the water with a rubber float. Rarity was busy tanning in the sun under an umbrella with her fashionable sun glasses, and Fluttershy was nursing a poor crab back to health. Applejack was preparing a campfire, and ...where's Rainbow?
Twilight shrugged it off and approached the water. The lake seemed perfectly round. She closed her eyes to concentrate. Her horn lit up with a violet magic aura to cast a detection spell. She could sense something down at the bottom. Something alive! Being specialized in magic, levitating this rock up to the surface would be no problem. With a smirk, she closed her eyes to cast a levitation spell.
*ZAP*
Twilight jumped back in shock as a lightening bolt struck the lake in front of her, causing her to put unintended pressure on the rock.
She held a hoof to her chest, startled with quick breaths. When she calmed down, she looked to the sky with a glare and shouted ''Rainbow Dash?!''
Up on a cloud above her, laid Rainbow Dash, who laughed at her little prank. ''Y-You should of s-seen the look on your face! Ha, Ha!'
Rarity trotted over, her mane a mess ''Rainbow, why must give us such a fright? I was relaxing in the warmth of the sun, until you startled us with your jest!''
Rainbow defended herself ''We came here to have fun, and that's what I'm doing. Twi needs to calm down and have fun.''
They both paused upon noticing Twilights fixed concentration on the lake. Rarity trotted over ''Twilight deary, You need to relax and enjoy yourself.''
''Not until I find it!'' she said with determination
The fashionista sighed ''Twilight, Darling, please. This is the seventh time you've tried searching for that meteor.''
The alicorn corrected ''Comet, according to the legends. And I would be able to find it much better if somepony helped.'' she glared at Dash
Rainbow again defended herself ''Hey, I may be a fan of archaeology, but you warned me that it would be mostly egg-headed stuff like geometry. Besides, I can't miss out on my naps.''
Suddenly, the ground beneath Twilight started to shake. Rainbow, who was on a cloud, could only see her startled expression ''Hey, Twi. You alright?'' They both looked behind them to see the others also shaking a bit.
The stack of wood Applejack gathered was falling apart and rumbling around ''What ta hey. Ta grounds shakin!''
Fluttershy was panicking ''Oh no! An earthquake?!''
Rarity spoke, worriedly ''Goodness! What ever is going on?''
The water bubbled with frequent ruptures. They all held their ground, and looked out to the lake, and saw something rising from the watery depths. The water at the center erupted and resulted in another ripple for the lake, which was enough to push Pinkie Pie back to shore, who cheered ''Woooohooooo! Water slide!''
It was a giant boulder covered in moss, sea weed, sponges etc. Twilight needed to get a closer look at it, so she used a levitation spell to grasp the giant ball of grim, and pull it to shore. It was surprisingly light for a giant rock, because she could move it with ease, though it being able to float above water made that obvious.
The rest of her friends gathered around her to awe at the giant boulder. Rarity asked ''Dear me, Twilight! What in Equestria are you doing?''
Twilight replied ''Found it!''
''Found what, darling?'' asked Rarity.
''I'm not really certain, actually.'' admitted Twilight
Fluttershy spoke up ''So that shaking was harmless?''
Twilight confirmed with a nod, bringing relief to Fluttershy ''Oh thank goodness! I was afraid we where in danger.''
When the rock was finally on shore, Twilight used her telekinesis to clear away all the marine organisms, only to find that it was a perfectly spherical rock. Once all the organisms were removed from it, she used her levitation spell to pull it further ashore, so it wouldn't drift back into the sea. It's shape was too perfect to be natural, and her telekinetic tug alone was enough to break it free from it's connection to the ocean floor. It wasn't natural and must have been mare-made, and considering all the moss and sponges, it must have been old. But how old?
Twilight, and the rest of her friends gazed upon it.
Applejack looked to Twilight, who had a hoof to her chin in thought. She knew that look ''Ya'll sure seem interested in this rock, Twilight.''
Twilight confirmed, ''This is no ordinary rock, so I'm going to study it!''
''Well no need to take the whole thing with us,'' said Applejack ''Ya could just take a sample or something.''
Rarity cast a detection spell on the boulder, then stepped back in surprise and gasped ''Twilight!''
Twilight turned to her friend, expectantly, ''Yes?''
''This is no ordinary boulder! This is actually a giant gemstone!''
Twilights stared back at the rock, eyes widened with surprise, fascination and confusion, ''Really!?''
Applejack replied, ''Well shoot! That settles it then. Just take dat there gem to study instead.''
Twilight considered chipping away at the crust, but concluded ''Well, I suppose I could collect my data from fragments.'' She then turned to the farmpony ''Applejack, could you buck this crust open?''
Applejack smirked ''Don't mind if I do!''
Once she slammed her hoof on to the surface of the stone, it cracked with shards falling off. What she didn't think would happen was for a bright pink light emitting from said crack. Buck after buck, the rocky crust slowly gave way to a great pink gemstone. Twilight started collecting fragments that fell from the first buck, and putting them in her satchel. Once finished, she joined her friends in awe at the pink gem.
Applejack asked ''Um, Twilight what exactly was this here gem doin in the bottom of the lake?''
Twilight admitted with determination ''I don't know, but I intend to find out!''
Rarity, with a mix of amazement, disbelief and scorn in her voice, said ''This is a travesty! This,'' She threw her hooves out toward the giant stone ''is a crime against all things fabulous!!''
Pinkie Pie was too busy flattening her face against the gems surface, while waving at something within it.
Fluttershy thought out loud ''I wonder what it is?''
Rainbow deadpanned ''It looks like a giant gemstone.''
The shy pegasus retorted ''Um, what I meant was, 'How did it get down there and why?' But that answers OK, too.''
Rainbow pondered what it could be and speculated ''Maybe it's the lost power crystal of an evil sorceress,'' she flew up into the air ''and now it's our job to kick their sorry flank.'' while performing combat moves against an imaginary enemy. She was clearly reading to many adventure stories.
The poor timid pegasus whimpered at that guess.
Pinkie joined in ''Or maybe, its an egg that contains a dragon that breaths rainbows and eats clouds?''
That made Fluttershy raise an eyebrow.
Twilight deadpanned ''Or maybe, we shouldn't jump to conclusions on what this giant crystal was doing in the lake, and get to studying it.''
Rainbow rolled her eyes ''Do you always have to kill the fun?''
Suddenly, Twilight's eyes shown pink briefly. She blinked, disoriented, then rubbed the side of her head, too busy trying to gather her thoughts, and asked nervously ''What... just happened?''
Before she or any of her friends could answer, the crystal began to glow. Then they heard it, a crack on the surface. The girls stepped back as the giant crystal started to crack open, and burst apart. Twilight cast a barrier around her and her friends for cover, so they wouldn't get hit by any shards. It then emitted a blinding pillar of pink light that pierced the heavens.
Once the action dyed down, the girls looked at what remained of the giant gemstone. It was broken into many pieces, and they heard a splash, as something fell into the water.
After a few seconds, they saw something moving in the water that was heading towards them. The girls braised themselves for the worst, but what they saw rise out of the lake was the last thing they could ever imagine. Never before in their lives have they ever seen anything like this. Rainbow instinctively stood between it and her friends, wings flared, and hooves scraping the ground.
Twilight asked ''What are you doing, Rainbow?''
''Just looking out for my friends, besides, when has something breaking out of some rock not lead to trouble?''
Applejack spoke ''She has a point, Sugercube.''
''Girls!'' demanded Fluttershy, who pointed a hoof forward. The rest looked to where she was pointing, and found themselves looking at the second strangest thing they've ever seen.
A bipedal creature crawled out of the water. Twilight didn't know what it was, so she made sure to take in, process, and analyze every feature she could see. It possessed no fur except for a red patch of hair in a similar style to Rainbows, but all red with blue dye at the tips, with the back stylized into a pony-tail. It also had tan skin which was full of bruises and some scars, with a bloody noise being the most obvious. It wore a crimson-red cloak with a popped collar, with electric-blue fire-like designs decorating it. But the most distinguishing features were what looked like pink crystalline shackles and chains that were attached to its wrists, and the burn scar that ran across its grey misty eyes. The creature looked tired and shocked as it sat there hands down on the sand, wet, and panting for breath, with a look of sheer despair and misery. Then the creature fell to the ground, unconscious.
After taking time to process what happened and gather their thoughts, Twilight looked to her friends ''Everypony, stay back! I'm going to check on it," and approached the creature with caution.
Rainbow zipped over to her with a grin ''Hey, Twi! No need to go solo on this. We've got your back!''
Twilight smiled in thanks.
Fluttershy checked the creature and gasped when she saw the section of his robe was stained with what was unmistakably fresh blood ''Oh dear! He's severely injured!'' Or at least she assume it was a 'he'.
Everyponys caution and worry for themselves turned into pity and worry for the creature. They gathered around the poor thing and took him back to Ponyville immediately.
