A crowd of ponies filled up an entire school gymnasium as they gathered around for one thing and one thing only. A matter of school. In the gymnasium entrance stood a proud light blue pegasus with a stunning rainbow mane staring around in awe. Her dream was to apply to this school ever since she was a filly and now she was living it.The school only accepted the top 40% yet her grades weren't the best of the 40%.In fact she barely was accepted because her scores were tied with this retarded unicorn who couldn't control her magic so the school board held her back another year in middle school and accepted this pegasus, Rainbow Dash.
A yellow pegasus with a pink mane had stopped behind Rainbow Dash who was blocking the entrance. "Uh... excuse me miss?"she shyly whispered. Rainbow Dash turned around and noticed she was blocking the way for that pegasus and a few other ponies who just walked behind.
"My bad, sorry" Rainbow Dash apologized and took her first steps into the huge room. It was a large gymnasium with a brick wall, stunt loops were tied to the ceiling for Pegasus agility physics, a few hurdles were set out to the side all around the gymnasium for the Earth Ponies, and about several practice dummy for Unicorns to practice their magic on.
Everypony had quit talking as a green Pegasus Mare with a blue curly mane and a whistle around her neck had rocketed through the entrance and above the crowd. A ton of cheers of excitement had roared in the crowd. Rainbow Dash was among them, surely this mare was excellent but Rainbow Dash could easily zoom by her so fast she could take her wallet without notice. "Attention Mares and Gentlecolts, welcome to Equestria High. Her we teach our academics equally for all pony races; Unicorn, Pegasi, and Earth. I am your principle, Mrs. Minty" the grown mare had introduced. Whispers went throughout the crowd as a few of them were how Mrs. Minty was very nice and others were about how she shouldn't have her mane so curly like a filly.
Rainbow Dash listened to the continuing speech the principle was giving to the students but heard something out of the topic of the speech, the word 'gun' buzzed in her ears. "At the Bar Alley tonight, bring the gun" a whisper was slightly made out. Gun? What student needs a gun at the Apple Cider Bar Alley? she thought nervously. A plot perhaps? she tried listening more to the unknown pony but cheers had shouted too loud for her to listen to the conversation.
"Alright Freshmen and new ponies you will follow me for a tour of the school while returning students will follow Mr. Hydra" Mrs. Minty said. Rainbow Dash looked around for anything suspicous but nothing was wrong as far as she could tell, A purple Unicorn was standing by the entrance as a crowd of ponies walked toward him. That must be Mr. Hydra Rainbow thought to herself. His coat was light purple, his mane was black as night, and his eyes were as red as a rose. Mrs. Minty had walked her group towards the side entrance, leaving a lost in mind Rainbow Dash.
"Hey,You're gonna be left if you just keep staring at them"a deep brawny voice said over her shoulder. As Rainbow Dash turned around, a large muscular blue Pegasus with a dark blue mane and green eyes had stood there watching her.
"Oh thanks for the heads up" She said and rushed over to the leaving group with the stallion following behind. As they caught up with the moving ponies she looked at the stallion "Name's Rainbow Dash, I'm new here" She greeted.
"Aren't we all? Name's Soarin, Soarin Hydra"The stallion introduced.
"Ah,so you're Mr. Hydra's son?"The mare asked.
"Nope, he's my uncle and the School Counseler"
"He's the counseler?"
"Yup"
"For how long?"
Soarin stopped in his tracks and thought for a moment "About, two to three years now" he answered.
Rainbow Dash nodded, her attention now back on Mrs. Minty as she stopped the group. They were stopped inside of a large room with desks and the wall was painted blue with white clouds. "This is Pegasus Studies,every Pegasus in the school will have this class everyday. Pegasi courses will be in taught in here such as Health, History, and Home Ed."Mrs. Minty said. A few pegasi had gasped in amazement at the sight of how they made it so comfortable for Pegasi to study their natural Niche in a semi-environment. They had exited the first room and entered the next door one. This room was a bit smaller with some desks and a few hurdles just like the ones in the gymnasium. "This is Earth Studies,every Earth ponies in the school will have this class everyday. Earth courses will be taught in here such as Health, History, and Home Ed. just like the Pegasus courses only...for Earth Pony ways" Mrs. Minty introduced the next classroom. Finally they had reached the last classroom at the end of the hall. "This is Unicorn Studies, every Unicorn in the school will have this class everyday and same course classes apply to this one as well". This room was smaller than the other two, it was black and purple with potions hanging off the wall and every desk had a spell book on it.
"Well damn, I've never seen a room with so many books before"Soarin gasped looking around the room. There were books on only magic but there sure was alot of them.
"Haven't you been to a library?" Rainbow Dash asked the amazed stallion. Surely he has been to one once in his life or just barely got in accepted into the school like her.
"Nope, got all my information for homework on my IPony"He said pulling out a black slender phone from his pocket.
"You have a IPony!? My mom won't let me have one of those. I don't even have a phone at all!"She complained. Soarin began laughing "Well Rainbow Dash that's moms for ya, always the downfalls. Maybe you could ask your dad?" Soarin suggested. Rainbow Dash went into space for a minute then came back to reality.
"My dad...left me and my mom when I was only a filly. He said the magic of their relationship had just left that day and so did he" Rainbow Dash sighed trying to remember how the story went. "They had this big argument on the day before about how my dad is never home to spend time with us and my mom thought he was seeing another mare. The next day my dad said he was going to divorce my mom before he left and a couple of months after, they went to court and got divorced. I can still remember my mom's tears from that day as my dad left the courtroom without a single tear of regret, he was smiling. Smiling like if he wanted to do that for a long time, the last words he told my mom were 'go to Hell'. The bigger downfall is that it was the day before my birthday and I was still a filly so I didn't know my dad wouldn't be coming back for my party like he always did" remembering the moments had started to build up tears in Rainbow Dash's eyes. "He always came for my other parties, never missed a single one. And my 5th birthday party, He wasn't there. My heart was broken when I learned what a divorce was, me and my mom wished he was going to show up for my party but he never came back" The blue mare tried holding in her tears of pain as she tried telling the story further. A hoof had set onto her shoulder stopping her from saying more. It was Soarin's.
"You don't have to say anymore, I understand" he told Rainbow Dash. Soarin wiped a tear coming out of Rainbow Dash's pink eyes. A small sniffle came from the pegasus as she felt the stallion wipe her tear away.
"Alright guys enough of the sob story before you make us cry"Mrs. Minty said from behind them. Rainbow Dash quickly looked around to find behind her the entire group watching Soarin and her, Was everypony listening? she thought to herself. Rainbow Dash had rubbed her eyes then walked back into the group with the blue stallion. Eyes of ponies staring at her and Soarin started to stare back at the green pegasus. "We just have a few more rooms and activities to tour and then you guys can prepare for tomorrow's asses..I mean classes!"The grown mare quickly corrected her speech as everyone started laughing at what the principle said. It cheered Rainbow Dash up a bit but retelling the story of her father still lingered in her mind, every memory she tried to remember, every word she told Soarin, that one tear he wiped away for her. Deep into the mare's heart she knew she had made a new friend.
Mrs. Minty led the students outside towards a courtyard. Walls of the school had surrounded it, it was in the middle of the building. Picnic tables were set up here and a few seniors were talking to each other as they waited for the lunch bell to ring. "This is the courtyard where students are only allowed to wait for next classes and have lunch"Mrs. Minty said. Rainbow Dash had spread out her wings under the warming glow of the sun,standing in a pose as if she were about to take off.
"Is it just a shame a nice day like this is wasted on a school tour ?" A mare pegasus said from behind Rainbow Dash. Her coat was yellow and her mane was a mix of orange and yellow, almost like a fire.
Soarin walked up beside the mare smiling at the two pegasi. "Hey Dash meet my middle school classmates! they attend here too!" Rainbow Dash turned around towards Soarin, the new pegasus, and other pegasi behind them. Among them was the shy pegasus she met in the morning. "These are Spitfire, Fluttershy, Derpy, Lightning Dust, Blaze, Fire Streak, Fleetfoot, High Winds, Lightning Streak, Misty Fly, Rapidfire, Silver Lining, Surprise, Wave Chill, Crescent Moon, Cloud Kicker, Cloudchaser, and Thunderlane".
Surprised at all the ponies were pegasi she could already guess what kind of school Soarin attended from, "Were you from a Pegasi Middle School?" Rainbow Dash asked.
Soarin shook his head "Cloudsdale Middle School.. well I guess it was a Pegasus school then, where did you go?"
"I went to Ponyville Public"She said
After a few minutes of letting the students enjoy the warm sun in the afternoon Mrs. Minty blew the whistle around her neck"Okay Students we're headed to our last place and then you will pick your courses for classes tomorrow, alright?" Mrs. Minty shouted, everypony started getting back into the group. When Rainbow Dash noticed, most of the group was made up of Soarin's friends. About eight other ponies in the group she didn't know the names of but soon she would.
The group made their way to the final stop,the gymnasium where the tour had started. Only this time a few tables were set out with piles of papers on them. "This of course is the gymnasium where of course gym will be taken place and here on these tables we have the course papers. Everypony must mark 8 classes they wish to take everyday. Do I make myself clear?" everypony nodded and a few of them added in a "yes" or "okay" response.
Rainbow Dash grabbed one sheet and checked off the classes she wanted to take.
