Chapter 4-6 In The Mountains

That first day into the Pegasus and dragon run away was pretty good you gotta admit. The feeling of love is slowly engulfing them. They both ignore it and pretend it’s not there, but the strong emotion can alter their actions and decisions. The two friends now have a big challenge ahead: The cold of the night.

Chapter 4: Bumps in the Road
The two friends picked on each other until the sun went down. That’s when the cold hits them, and mosquitoes. ‘Ha! The pesky bugs won’t get me!’ Rainbow Dash said swiping them away faster than they can land. ‘I don’t mind them, they can’t penetrate my scales. ‘We should go in the cave for shelter and a little block from the bugs.’ Dash said as she and Spike went into the small cave.

‘I wish we had a fire!’ Spike said shivering. Rainbow could take the cold slightly better since her fur held heat better than Spike’s scales. ‘Maybe if you go to sleep you won’t feel the cold.’ Rainbow said.

‘Alright, it’s worth a shot, good night.’ Spike said going to one side of the cave. ‘Good night.’ She replied going to the other side. The two of them sat there unable to sleep for what seemed like hours, but was actually an hour.

Rainbow could hear the little dragon’s teeth clattering. Dragon’s are warm blooded so he would be freezing at this point, literally. Rainbow Dash knew she couldn’t leave him freezing to death. ‘Alright Spike this isn’t working.’ She said worried about him. ‘Why you cold?’ He asked. She actually was.

‘Yes, and I can tell you are, too.’ She replied. ‘What are we suppose to do any ways?’ He asked. The two thought for a moment. ‘We could, um, conserve our body heat?’ He said nervously knowing it was weird. ‘You mean snuggling?’ She asked. ‘No…’ He said but then realizing that’s practically what he meant.

‘Snuggling.’ She said. He sighed. ‘Never mind, I’ll be fine.’ He said. ‘No, no. Um, I think we should ‘conserve body heat’. It’s better than freezing our tails off.’ She said with a hint of blush. ‘Are you sure?’ He asked feeling hot in the face.

The two sat awkwardly for a while freezing. ‘Yes I’m sure. I guess I’d rather be pressed up against your scales and be warm than freeze like this.’ She said. ‘Alright. Never tell anypony right.’ He said lying down.

‘Agreed.’ She replied lying beside him. Slowly the two of them embraced each other. ‘You know what let’s get this over with.’ Rainbow said. She wrapped her arms around him and snuggled her head into his chest. Spike was fluttery inside, his heart was pounding and she could hear it. Rainbow was feeling the same way.

Spike put his arms around her. After a while drowsiness played an effect on them. They got comfortable. Dash actually lifted her leg over his and pulled him close. Spike crunched in his legs to her body. The two of them were now warm and cozy, and definitely felt different.

When the two of them awoke in the morning, they didn’t want to separate. They felt safe and very comfy. Dash drooled a bit on Spike, her body was acting strange and she didn’t know why. Spike began playing with her hair and rubbing her back which she liked, she had no idea why.

It seemed like they could sit there forever, but you know, that can’t happen. Eventually Rainbow’s stomach growled. She quickly kicked away from Spike and blushed. ‘Good morning.’ Spike said stretching. He just acted normal, not showing how much he enjoyed the night before. ‘Good morning.’ She replied and her stomach growled again. ‘You hungry?’ He asked pointing out what he thought was obvious.

‘A little.’ She said as her belly gave another upset growl. ‘You okay?’ He asked as she held her stomach and showed discomfort. ‘My stomach is not feeling the best. Is it something I ate-‘She said thinking. ‘The berries, they must have been bad.’ She said. Spike felt very guilty. ‘I didn’t know I swear.’ The purple dragon said. She did believe him.

Rainbow Dash groaned and fell to the cave floor. ‘You have to get the berries out of you.’ Spike said, he knew a lot from Twilight’s lectures. ‘Huh?’ She said confused. ‘You have to-‘He put his hands to his mouth and then extended his figures and made a gagging face. She hated vomiting but if that’s how to stop the pain then she’ll do it.

‘Alright, I really don’t like throwing up.’ She said stepping outside the cave and to the edge. ‘I got your back remember.’ Spike reminded. He went beside her. ‘Right, Here I go.’ She said leaning over the edge. She opened her mouth and tried to push out the berries. Spike was rubbing her back, she enjoyed that, but the thought of the vomit made her not notice it that much. ‘Come on Dash.’ He said.

She tried as hard as she could but it didn’t work, but she didn’t quit. Not even a burp escaped her lips. Then she farted by accident. Spike was surprised and jumped back. ‘Wrong end.’ The dragon said laughing. ‘I meant to do that.’ She said going along with it but still with a hint of blush. The dragon rolled on the ground laughing. ‘Come on, it wasn’t that funny.’ She said getting annoyed. ‘It’s hilarious.’ The dragon continued laughing.

She was getting pretty mad now. ‘Rainbow toot, that’s where the rainbows come from.’ He joked and continued laughing his head off on the ground. Dash was really annoyed. ‘If you like them so much, why don’t you have more!’ She said putting her flank near his head threatening to fart on him. ‘Wow hey, there’s enough gas to fuel a plane here already.’ He said as he stopped laughing. Then he thought of what he said and how funny it was and began laughing again. She was getting pissed off now. ‘I’m serious stop it!’ She said shaking her flank near him reminding him of what she claimed she was to do.

‘Try not to give away our position to them, unless you did that already.’ He continued his laughter. ‘Stop or I will tell everypony that you snuggled with me!’ She yelled. Then her gut growled once more, but the growl went down. ‘You won’t, it would go bad for you, too.’ He said standing up. He was done with his laughing fit.

‘Oh no.’ She said as her stomach growled lower again. ‘What?’ Spike asked. ‘No, shoo! I’m locked and loaded.’ She said pointing her bum in his direction. ‘I’m sorry okay, it was just so funny.’ He said giggling as he remembered it. She was about to talk when her bum vibrated. Spike was alarmed and he knew she was locked and loaded so he stepped back.

‘Oh no no no, um, Spike?’ She asked holding her flank to the ground. ‘What?’ He replied. ‘Could the berries come out the other end?’ She asked as her bum vibrated again. ‘Yes.’ He said realizing what she was referring to. ‘Okay-‘She couldn’t continue, she couldn’t hold it. She got up. Without warning her butt practically exploded towards the edge luckily. Spike ran into the cave to give her privacy.

Spike just sat in the cave for awhile waiting for her to be done. ‘Rainbow, you okay.’ He said holding his nose, just in case. He saw her on the ground in pain and spew on the ground in front of her and on her mouth. ‘Dash!’ He said seeing her situation. ‘You okay, you gotta be.’ He said, she was they’re only way out, plus she is a friend.

‘Spike, help.’ She said groaning in pain. A loud grumble came from her rear. Spike backed away. ‘There’s nothing there. It’s trying to push out nothing, and it hurts.’ She said spitting up on herself a bit. She didn’t want Spike to see her like that, or anypony for that matter. She was a mess and felt horrible.

‘Oh Rainbow Dash, what have I done, I’m the worst friend ever.’ He said looking away in shame, he blamed himself for it. ‘No, it’s not you’re fault, you didn’t know.’ She said trying to get him to help. He kept his eyes away and his face out of her view. ‘I’ll be fine; I’m way to gross right now to even touch.’ She said with a little toot. She blushed. ‘No, I owe you big, it’s the least I could do.’ He said going to her.

She gagged a bit. ‘Really, oh thank you Spike.’ She said. Spike felt the feeling again, the one that let him save her, the feeling was strong and he had to embrace it. ‘Put your arms around me.’ He ordered. ‘I’m not all snuggly like last night, even if I wanted to be.’ She said. ‘Just do it, keeping you out here isn’t helping.’ He said putting out his arms.

She hesitated but did put her arms around him. He lifted her up, with surprising ease. He was a dragon after all. She felt a wave of gas hit her rear, but she held it, for Spike. He put her down in the cave. ‘Now I guess you need to be cleaned up.’ He said, he did like helping, it was who he was. She was about to say something but then her touched her lips. At first she thought he was making a move, but instead he wiped the spit up off her snout.

He began using his claws to comb her hair. He fixed her fur. He went and got a big leaf and put it on her. He even went out and found an apple tree and water for her. ‘Spike, wow, thanks.’ She had no idea what to say. ‘You’re welcome; you saved my life, its one step to repayment.’ He replied.

That moment was when it happened. Love hit her, it was there already, but it needed to be activated. Spike’s kindness over the last day was the key to her heart. Her heart raced, her wings beeted quickly (the injured one went quite slow but still) he looked so nice to her. Her face flushed, her body went stiff, her tongue twisted and brain fuzzed, and it was love at its beginning. She didn’t know what the feelings meant, but she liked them.

If you’re wondering about Spike, they weren’t active, they just urked him at times.

‘S-spike. I-‘She could barely speak. No pony she thought would ever help her in the state of, well grossness. ‘Yes?’ He asked. He noticed the reactions and didn’t know how to respond. Rainbow was lost in his eyes, her mouth peckish for his lips.

‘I-I-uh…Thanks you.’ She said clumsily. She started finding the feeling annoying, why did this have to happen! Why can’t I talk or move. Tears of joy and confusion entered her eyes. ‘No problem.’ He replied. ‘Huh, what, right yeah. You have half the apple.’ She said hiding her face behind her wing.

Spike caught on to what she was showing and his own feelings and urks. ‘Dash, what’s happening?’ He asked, wondering if the stress was getting them. ‘What do you mean?’ She asked. Spike got up, the feelings came to fast and strong they overwhelmed him, and now he saw the same things on Rainbow Dash. He couldn’t take it, he was too inexperienced.

‘This isn’t love; we aren’t ever going to love, never!’ He said trying to get rid of the feelings. Rainbow was hurt. But she had to agree, so he didn’t know. ‘Spike, you derp. Love would never work, wait you love me?!’ She said surprised. ‘No we’re just friends, that’s all we’ll ever be. I love Rarity and never you; we’re just stuck in this mess because of my stupid plan.’ He said getting mad, love can do that.

‘Maybe being stuck is good…’ She closed her mouth. ‘No it’s horrible, Gah!’ He said as he ran off out of the cave. The baby dragon couldn’t take the overpower emotion, it messed him up. ‘Spike!? Buddy?’ She said trying to get up but pain stopped her.

She felt weird. She was sad, mad, happy and confused. She didn’t know what to do so she started crying. Out of the all the bumps on the road of love, the first ones are the hardest.

Chapter 5: Maturity
Spike later came to his senses. He knew saying that was mean and uncalled for, he knew he had feelings for her now, small but sill. Who couldn’t in this kind of situation? He also figured she had feelings for him, too. He knew he should apologize, he had to confront it, and the feeling couldn’t hide anymore. So he took some flowers, no, that’ll help the feeling. But in the end he ended up with flowers in his claws as he stepped to the cave.

‘Rainbow Dash?’ He asked. She lifted her head, she was sobbing lightly. She now embraced the fact that she loved the dragon. Not that strong, but it wasn’t weak. ‘Yeah?’ She asked wiping the tears from her face.

Spike stepped into the cave. ‘I’m sorry for the outburst before, I don’t know what got over me. I have to admit I developed a small amount of feelings for you, and think you might have, too.’ He started. She was shocked, she was so happy, but Spike’s face didn’t show the same. She stood up ignoring the pain in her gut.

‘It’s nothing though. It’s just how dependent we are of each other out here and what are age is, are body is testing and I know I love Rarity and you…I don’t know.’ He said. Rainbow Dash knew the answer; she was lost in his eyes. ‘I love you.’ She said to herself but meant it for Spike to also hear. ‘That’s what I’m getting at; it’s not real, just an illusion.’ He said blushing deeply.

Without thought or warning the craziest thing happened. Rainbow Dash dove to him. She sank her lips into his and held the dragon in her arms. Spike didn’t know what to think. It happened way too fast and out of the blue. He rethought his previous statement. Maybe this isn’t an illusion and it’s real.

They held the kiss for five seconds. Spike resisted and went back. He was astonished and felt fluttery that is almost when it happened but not yet. ‘Oh my gosh!’ Dash said in shock of her uncontrolled action. ‘Rainbow?’ Spike said not believing what happened. The brave and mighty Rainbow Dash just kissed the baby dragon Spike.

‘I love you? No, no it can’t be. Impossible.’ She said backing away and lifting her wings. ‘Rainbow, it’s alright, it’s just maturity.’ He said trying to calm her he was stepping to her. ‘I-I-*’ She stuttered. She flapped her wings and dove backwards off the edge and hovered. ‘Dash! Your wing!’ Spike yelled to remind her.

Before she could react pain pierced her body from the wing. She grasped it and yelled in agony. Then she fell, plummeting to the ground below.

Chapter 6: To the Ground
‘Help!’ Rainbow Dash yelled as she fell. Spike didn’t know what to do, he ran and jumped to a ledge below, and then another and another. He was wall jumping downwards. Dash attempted to use her wings as a parachute but the wing hurt too much. Spike was speeding down using any ledge or cliff, He was in a fast momentum, any miss or turn and he was a goner.

Rainbow Dash banged off some rocks and she was out. Spike looked over and saw that. ‘Rainbow!’ He yelled not paying attention. Then his foot slipped and twisted and he fell and banged off the same rock and was now in Dash’s stage.

They both lost their main travel and were both blacked out with gashed on their heads.

Days past, it was like they were left to die. They finally woke up. Spike tried to get up but his whole body ached and wouldn’t cooperate. Same for Dash. They were both starving, since they didn’t eat for days. Their mouths dry as a desert begging for a liquid. ‘D-dash.’ Spike managed to sputter. She slowly turned her head. ‘S-pike. Not you, too.’ She replied barley.

She reached for him but fell short. Spike meat her half way and grabbed her hoof. ‘We’ll…be...f-fine.’ He said. She gave him a soft smile. ‘You bet your tail we will be.’ She said. She could talk better due to she had water more recent than Spike.

Dash then threw up a little. They couldn’t move, their body was too damaged. Another day passed and they were still sitting there, their stomachs growling like a pack of angry dogs. Spike had to go to the washroom there considering there was no other option. Then Spike spewed out flames and a note appeared. Spike managed to grab it with one good arm and read:

Dear Spike. Where are you and Rainbow Dash? I haven’t seen you since the incident. Are you okay? I’m so worried. Please answer. Sincerely Twilight Sparkle.

Spike used his claws and cut SOS in the paper and sent it back to Twilight. ‘T-told goo we are foing to be *ahem* fine.’ He said his mouth parched. She smiled back. Hours passed and they were stuck there, with nothing to company them but their own thoughts. They couldn’t communicate their mouths were to dry and couldn’t talk. They just sat there, waiting for a something. Well of course something saved them; it wasn’t the end, at least not yet.

Another day passed, it had been six days since they ran away. Spike knew they probably couldn’t live through the night. His eyes couldn’t portray anything. Just blurs, he could barely hear, his body was stopping. Then, in his foggy state, he saw moving blurs in the distance. He could just make out that they were ponies; one of them had to be Twilight. Using the last bit of his strength, he picked up a rock and threw it.

It caught their attention and before he knew it the two blurs hovered over him. That’s when it went black.
