//------------------------------// // The Scholar's Journal // Story: Vision // by Enkmaster //------------------------------// The following is an excerpt from the journal of Evening Star, a female researcher working at the aptly named Forgotten City, located east of Manehatten. Page 38 Work is progressing well. We have begun searching through the west wing, an area as of yet left alone. Just like all the other areas, this one is strangely absent of flooding or damage of any kind. One must wonder if this is due to the initial design of the complex, or if there is still some old inhabitant of this long-forgotten relic moving along in the shadows, maintaining it's home. Perhaps even watching us. No, I shouldn't think of things like that. There is nothing in this ruin that would seek to harm us. I must focus on my work. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Page 42 Most of the west wing has been mapped. There we found something astonishing. Pictures, diagrams for some ancient machine. We cannot comprehend it's design or the method of it's construction. More research into this wing is needed. Page 47 This is incredible. We have found what we believed to be non existent in this ancient city. Artifacts. Small pieces of metal of some unknown origin. There are also tablets, engraved with some diagrams to various areas of the facility, showing doors and entrances to passages we did not even know existed. There is some talk that, perhaps, these "maps" could lead us to the secret of this place. We are closer than ever to finding what the Makers had hidden here. One can only hope that it was not hidden for a terrible reason. Page 48 Work will begin on finding and exploring the new passages, using the "Maker's Maps" as they have come to be known, withing the month. A new member of the team has been called from excavation of Gryphic artifacts from the North. Hopefully, he will fare better than our last new arrival. Page 49 The new member of our research team is set to arrive within the week. We will postpone further exploration until he arrives. Page 50 Princess Celestia herself has finally shown interest in our work. Perhaps she will visit the site. More importantly, perhaps we will finally get more funding.
