(Luna's P.O.V.)
I watch my son as he sleeps. He is so tiny, but yet he is strong like his father. For now, he needs me more then ever, and I will do my very best to take care of him. I can't help but smile with pride every time I look at him. He had the same black coat as his father and the same white mane as well, but his eyes were the only difference that set them apart, aside from the fact he had both wings and a horn, and of course immortality. Word would soon be sent throughout Equestria of his birth, and I knew everypony would want to catch a glimpse of the little prince. I didn't want my son to be frightened on his first day of life here, but I knew my big sister would have that covered. Aside from the crowd control, the only thing that was getting on my nerves was the politics.
They were trying their best to get my sister and I to transfer political power to themselves when they were coming up with the best way of how to shift the balance of power between the royal alicorn bloodline, but every time we saw right through it. Prince Blue Blood especially annoyed me at first. When the news that I was with foal came, he had what I like to call a 'snobby royal' melt down, wanting nothing more then to strip me of my crown and birthright to ensure my foal would not out rank him in the political area. My sister did her best to set him straight though, for he was foolish to question Alicorns and their choices in relationships. It hadn't been the first time he had this kind of melt down though.
When news came of Twilight's ascension to an alicorn princess, he was all over it trying to prove she did not have what it takes. Twilight herself had put a stop to that nonsense when at her first political meeting, she showed she did have what it takes, for my sister had taught her well, and no pony had realized it until that day. I would have stepped in if she had been in trouble, but it seems all that time in Ponyville had prepared her in ways she didn't even realize.
Getting back to the present, I know Blue Blood will have a sore spot for my son whenever they meet, but I feel my son will more than likely get on his better side in the foreseeable future. Right now, Moon Dust looks so cute as he sleeps, sucking on his little hoof, without a worry in the world, long after the doctors had placed him in his first diaper and wrapped him up again. I gently stroke his cheek with my hoof as he sleeps and he reacts with a slight shudder as he feels it. I know motherhood will be a challenge for me, but I will face it with a smile. Moon Dust is now the world to me and I will do everything I can to make sure he is loved and protected. I soon see him stir in the hospital crib they had set next to my hospital bed, and I knew nap time was coming to an end for my little child of the night.
(Moon Dust's P.O.V.)
I finally awake and open my eyes slowly to see myself laying on a soft surface with my mom laying next to me on the soft surface I was on earlier. My mother looks at me with that smile that made me feel warm inside and says, "Hello there my little one, did you sleep well?"
I finally extend my hooves out to her, wanting her to hold me again. She reaches out her hooves and gently picks me up bringing me close to her again. I nuzzle her body and she smiles down at me and says, "Mommy loves you too honey. It's almost time for us to go dear."
'Go? Go where? We don't live in this place? Looks like I have a lot to learn. I wonder where mommy is going to take me? What will it look like?' I ask myself in my little mind.
I hear the door open where I had seen my aunts and uncle come through before and saw a pony walk in, a doctor or a nurse, I think is what my mom called them. "Princess Luna, we have checked you and the baby over, and you both show that you are ready to go. Princess Celestia has already finished most of the paperwork and we just need you to sign one last thing and the two of you are free to go your majesty. Now, if you would just follow me this way with the young prince your highness," the nurse says.
All of the sudden I felt as if I was weightless as I hovered next to my mom and then landed softly on her back. For some reason, it felt as if I could not move an inch once she set me on her back and mommy says as she turns her head back and nuzzles me, "Don't worry honey, mommy's got you."
I feel safe, knowing mommy wouldn't let me fall and I gently lay my head down on her back as we walk out of the room we were in. Where ever we were going I feel amazed at how long the next room is, it seems to never end. I soon felt my mom stop moving forward and focus my attention on some ponies who look like the doctors and nurses I had seen earlier. They all had different colored fur, but wore something of the same color. Soon my mom was off again an I was greeted by a blinding brightness that makes me close my eyes immediately. I did not want to open them for a little while and wish my mommy had put her wing over me to make it darker. As my eyes adjust, I see a whole lot more and everything around me seems to really never end and was a whole lot bigger. I also see Aunt Celestia and Aunt Twilight along with some ponies who looked powerful like Uncle Shining Armor, and were wearing something shiny.
Where there wasn't brightness I could see blue above me and around me I saw green mixed in with other colors from things standing firmly above the ground. "Looks like you're amazed my little one. Those things above the ground are called buildings, and some are called houses and that blue stuff above us is called the sky. And you see that building over there honey?" Mommy asks me.
I look to where she is pointing and see a big building, or house, or what ever mommy calls it and it amazed me even more at how huge it was. "That is our home. It's a castle and that's where we're going. Now it's time to put you in the stroller honey," my mom says as she lifts me again somehow without even touching me, and sets me in what she called a stroller.
The stroller feels a lot more comfy then the soft surface I felt earlier and I lay there not wanting to move in it as the stroller is moving itself. My mom looks at me with the smile that she always does and I smile back. I was content for a while until I see Aunt Twilight come into my view. She says as she walks alongside my stroller, "Hello there Moon Dust, looks like you had a good nap. Your Aunt Pinkie Pie is already getting started on your party for tomorrow, and your other aunts are helping her. You are going to have a great time tomorrow little one."
I make some noises as I try to communicate, but can not get out a single word like she can. She then says out of nowhere as she moves away from my view, "Where's Moon Dust?"
I look around for her and can't see her until she pops her head back into my view and says, "There he is."
I couldn't help it and giggled uncontrollably and clap my hooves as she continues to do this and even Aunt Celestia started doing it too and both my aunt's even made funny faces as they continue to say the same thing again and again, making me giggle more and more. I can't tell how far we are from our house, but all of the sudden I feel as if everything below my belly, except my legs was wet, even my back side. I feel uncomfortable from this and begin to cry, hoping my mommy or my aunts would do something to make it go away, like my mommy did with my hunger. "Oh, what's wrong little one? Are the covers too tight?" Mommy asks.
She feels around and knows that wasn't it. She then pulls away the covers and notices my diaper, I think is what the nurses called it, has become wet. "Oh, My goodness, somepony needs a diaper change," Mommy says.
Soon, I feel the stroller moving faster as we soon move through our home. From what I could see, the castle was huge and we we going to live here, but my main focus was getting the uncomfortable wetness to go away as I continue to cry. "It's alright honey, we're almost there, calm down, calm down," my mommy says.
I calmed down a bit, but continued to whimper and soon I hear a door open like back in the hospital. Soon after I see my mom lift me out of the stroller and trot with me upwards. Soon we move forward more without going up, as my mom has me securely on her back now galloping. Not too long after, I see mom open another door and soon she lays me down on something hard, but not too uncomfortable. I then feel my mom remove my diaper and wipe my bottom with something wet as I stop crying, making me squeal in surprise at the cold touch.
My mother giggles a bit as she places another diaper on me. I feel comfortable after that and Mom picks me up and nuzzles me, giving me a kiss on the cheek before carrying me out again down the way we had come up. "Sorry about that sister, but I couldn't let my little one stay uncomfortable like that," My mom says.
"No worries little sister. My nephew is your top priority right now, and I know you'll be a terrific mother for him. I sometimes feel envious, you found a special somepony, settled down and had a foal before I did. Guess you had enough time of being alone after the moon I suppose. Still, you beat me at this one little sister," Aunt Celestia said.
"Well you can't always be first at everything big sister, I'm sure you will find a special somepony as well as Twilight Sparkle. I heard Cadence and Shining Armor are actually thinking about having their own foal," mom says.
"Our youngest sister is thinking about it too? Looks like I need to look into getting into a relationship more. I've had my head buried in politics for too long," Aunt Celestia replies.
"That you have sister, but don't worry he's out there. Now why don't we enjoy the rest of the day before I have to take my little prince back to our room for his dinner," Mommy says.
Soon, mommy sets me back in the stroller and we walk outside again. Mommy, Aunt Celestia and Aunt Twilight show me everything with mommy feeding me whenever I got the hungry feeling again and changing my diapers. The royal gardens, the labyrinth, and the overview of what all the ponies call the city of Canterlot was some of the many things they showed me outside. Many ponies pass by us and say how cute I look. I was then shown what was inside the castle, from what my mom and aunt call the kitchen to what they call their private studies. there were some doors that were not opened though, making me wonder what would be behind them. My mom and aunt's head down to what they called the dining hall and my mother sat beside me as she started eating what the other ponies set in front of her. After my mother finishes eating, she says to my aunts, "I am going to head back up to my room so my little one can have his dinner, then it's off to bed for him, and then time for me to take on my duties of the night once I raise the moon. Goodnight sister, Goodnight Twilight."
"Good night Luna, we'll see you in the morning," my aunts say in unison.
Soon mommy takes me back up to our room and sets me down next to her, and like all the other times, I began suckling and drinking as my mother spread her wing over me, in case any pony unexpectedly came in while I was fed. After I was full, my mom burped me again and soon was rocking me gently in her arms. As my eyes shut to sleep, I could feel my mom lay me down on something almost as soft and comfortable as her embrace and I finally let sleep come over me. Little did I know what would await me tomorrow.
