//------------------------------// // Tidal Waves // Story: The return of Sea Blaze and the Secret Tide // by Sea Blaze //------------------------------// Sea Blaze returns - Part 1 Tidal waves as narrated by: Sea Blaze as written by : Valentine Green It was a sunny, cloudless sky on the late afternoon of this warm summer day. In the quiet village of Ponyville hoofsteps were as far from expected as possible, given the searing heat that fell hard, the ponies now entering the third summer month, August, notorious for it's waves of heat. On the seemingly deserted streets of Ponyville one, rather... peculiar, figure showed up in the distance. A long, emerald-green and turquoise mane, a pair of wings on the sea-blue coat, and a pretty... weird, to be said the least, cutie mark, adorned the body of the seemingly mad colt, taken as mad for his presence outdoors in the heat of summer, with the sun beaming right on his forehead. Walking by Sugarcube Corner, a pink, hyperactive pony took notice of the visitor, and synchronized her moves perfectly as when the strange colt passed by the entrance of the sweets shop a pair of hooves would shoot out then right back in with the speed of lightning, leaving the streets barren again, the presence of the peculiar colt moved inside Sucarcube Corner. Looking straight into the bright grey eyes of the one now over her, Pinkie closed her eyes only to burst up in the air with the maniacal laughter of a mad scientist finding a new subject for his tests. - You're here! You're here! You're here, you're here, you're heeeery weeny! Wooohooo! But omygod it took you SOOOO long! Did anything happen? Did somepony attack you?! Were they bandits?! Or worse... SKY BANDITS?! HIIIIAAAAA! I gotta tell everypony there are Sky Bandits on the loose. And what a better place to do that than on a "Take care, incoming bandits!" costume party! Ohmygosh, ohmygosh, ohmygooooosh. *BONK* And so, with a swift swing from the colts hoof, Pinkie now laid motionless on the ground. Seizing the opportunity, the sea-blue pony moved Pinkie on the closest couch and started trotting over the house, looking for a place to settle his package. Finding the house pretty crammed with mostly useless things, lots of baking material and the only storage rooms in the house filled with party supplies, he decided on emptying his saddlebags on Pinkie's bed, upstairs, and with a sorrowful glance back at the comfy bed, the pegasus opened the window and took off at incredible speed, one which would give even Rainbow Dash a slight trace of envy. Flying in the unfamiliar sky of Ponyville wasn't that horrible thing Sea Blaze imagined, as the sky was cloudless except for the huge cloud formation that was Cloudsdale, in the distance. He found himself soaring in the sky, slaloming by small houses, and rushing through the empty streets pretty fast, taking himself by surprise, not knowing of this abillity of his to take in and assimilate the environment so fast. Now close to evening time, doors of many of the houses in Ponyville now laid open, as a variety of ponies were making a run for it for the freshness of the lake in the park, or the nearby caffes, built specially as to preserve coolness in summer, and keep themselves warm in the freezing cold of winter. Still soaring in the sky, Sea Blaze found himself staring at the activities of his soon-to-be neighbours, and who knows, maybe his next best friend is somewhere in that crowd! Still, as they teach in the very first elementary lessons at flight school, taking your eyes of the sky while flying at speeds like the one currently Sea Blaze was abusing was the first cause for most aerial incidents, as the young pegasus remembered now, whilst spyraling down with a severe headache after bumping in the gray mail pegasus, falling down by his side. Different from his situation, the pegasus mare lost conciounsnes, and was now violently shaking and twisting in the blazing wind that went by them in their dreadful fall. Bored of the fall, Sea Blaze flew himself in a barrel roll, rolling over to the other side of the falling grey pegasus. His teeth now made contact with the mare's neck, his hooves stretched around her neck. Getting a sure grip on her, Blaze spread his wings with incredible speed, and broke the fall momentum right before the ornament of a tall house made a cooling hole in Ditzy's stomach. His wings trying to make the most of the stationary warm air, Blaze settled Derpy's inert body on top of the house that just tried to kill her, and sat down next to her, trying to wake her up, but to no avail. Getting bored, but not having the heart to leave the poor being alone, the sea-blue pegasus started singing one of his favorite songs. His voice seemed to echo through the numb ears of the sleeping mare, and she started, involuntarily, soflty swinging her head to the tune. "Somepony to hear your prayers, somepony who cares... your own, personal, Celestia..." Finally unsealing her eyelids, the mare looked up and found the peaceful and caring glare of the pegasus that saved her life. Instantly blushing, Derpy remembered at the same time that because of him she was about to miss on one of her biggest deliveries. Stuttering back to her feet, she turned her back on the sea-bluea pegasus, that seemed rather intrigued by the mare. Feeling a bit ashamed not to, Derpy turned and asked, with a timid voice - And your name be... - Sea Blaze. Sugarcube Corner, if you wish to come by and say thanks. Such a melodious voice, and something in the way he spoke, took the mare aback, but only for a second, as her wings now blasted the hot air away below her apart, giving her the requiered speed to reach her delivery spot just in time. *** - Well, hi there Derpy! What's the matter. Hope you didn't got a cupcake in your eye, for that would mean you broke a Pinkie Promise. You do know that I don't take lightly the breaking of a Pinkie Promise... Pinkie Pie... greeted, to be said, the grey pegasus. - Rest assured Pinkie, I'm not the type to break promises, any kind of promises. I'm here to visit... Here her voice gained a lower volume, and her cheeks began rose-red, as she started scratching the dirt with her hoof. Intrigued, Pinkie replayed the last part of her sentence - To visit... - Well... never mind, I'll just be on my way. Good evening, Pinkie! And with those words Derpy turned her back and started running opposite to Sugarcube Corner, just to gain momentum for her take off. Puzzled, Pinkie decided to leave it be, and soon became totally oblivious to the events before, now heading up to her bed, no, not to get some good sleep, but to gather her supplies for the "Incoming bandit raid" costume party. *Such a brilliant ideea!* she thought to herself. The night sky was fired ablaze with the flames of millions of stars, as Sea Blaze sat, eyes almost closed, on one of the rooftops of the houses in Ponyville. To be exact, the same rooftop where he landed with Derpy a few hours ago. *Why am I here? Why haven't I left already? It's been 5 hours straight since she took of... yeah, she...* With his mind drifting off to Derpy, he soon found himself in the company of the memory that brought to him the heavenly scent of Derpy's mane, as he was clutching onto her, desperately trying to save her from the fate he could've bring down on her. *I still can't believe why in Celestia's name I've stumbled into her. Small, careless pegasus. I get it, I wasn't watching the sky, but she was flying right there, in front of me... on the same height line as mine... on a perfect line with me... Oh, dear Celestia, how couldn't I see it coming?! It wasn't an accident. She was trying to get to me! But why? Do I know her? There's been 15 years since I left Ponyville... it's impossible for anypony, except my cousin Pinkie, to remember me... so, how?...* - I wasn't able to forget you... Jumping to his feet, Sea Blaze now found himself face-to-face with the grey pegasus. She was standing there, seaming to take great interest in the texture of the red rooftop, scratching her hoof to see if it broke off. It did. - But... who... why... when... please, I can't stand it anymore! Who are you?" - You don't remember me, do you?... Ditzy said, with the voice of a pony that had just been stabbed in the back. It's me... Ditzy... Ditzy Doo. she said, with a faint trace of hope. - Ditzy... Ditzy Doo... He was desperately trying to remember what memories he had linked to this name, but his head was now as blank as a cloudless sky on an August day. Until... - Di... Ditzy?... It can't... it can't be! You... you shouldn't be here! Ditzy, you shouldn't... but you are... DERPY! he finally shouted, and threw himself, forelegs wrapped around Derpy's neck. He remembered now. His only friend, the only pony who ever stayed by his side in ponygarten. And she was here! After all this years, she was here, and she was hugging him as tightly as her forelegs allowed. 15 years of pain and sorrow prepared her for this moment, for the moment she would slap his muzzle and scream at him, with tears in her eyes, demanding the reason for his departure. But all those preparations were gone in the second she felt tears coming down her spine. Sea Blaze was crying, he was crying like a little filly, and he couldn't help it. The way he missed her... the way he couldn't bare to take in her sorrowfull glare, that dreadful day he had to leave Ponyville... and here they were, 15 years later, under the stary sky of his childhood village. They were embracing each other, and after 10 full minutes of sobbing, Blaze finally parted from the warm body of his long-forgotten friend. They were now staring into each others teary eyes, and from their lips a simultaneous phrase took off - I missed you, my love...
