//------------------------------// // Chapter 20 Footie // Story: The Slow Mo Stallions // by gamershot //------------------------------// Rarity was trotting down the street, quite frustrated. She needed to get those measurements, the Gala was tomorrow and she couldn't afford to have any more set backs. "Alright Rarity. Keep it together." she said to herself to stop her from panicking. She was heading to get Dan first, then Gavin. She still hadn't even made a start on her own dress and time was running out. When she reached the library she pushed open the door to find the library empty. "Twilight? Anyone?" she shouted. "Rarity is that you?" asked a croaky voice from upstairs. Rarity trotted up the stairs and followed the voice into the bedroom. "Oh, my poor Spikey Wikey!" she yelled, seeing the tiny dragon tucked up in bed with an ice pack on his head. "Hey Rarity." he croaked with a weak smile. "What's wrong?" she asked sympathetically. "I'm just sick that's all." he sighed. "Oh, you poor thing." "What did you come here for anyways?" he asked quietly. "Oh yes, do you know where Twilight and Dan are?" she asked softly. "Yeah, they went to see Gavin and Rainbow about a minute ago." he replied. "Thank you!" she yelled whilst running down the stairs, remembering her deadline. She went at a fast trot over to Rainbow's house hoping to catch Twilight and Dan up before they arrived. Eventually she did catch sight of them and sped up a bit to reach them. "Twilight! Dan!" she yelled from not far behind them, making them turn around. "A'right Rarity?" asked Dan with a smile. "Yes I'm fine, I just need your measurements to make your suit for the gala." she replied. "Oh." he muttered quietly. "Will you come to my boutique after we get Gavin?" she asked, becoming slightly worried and annoyed. "That sounds good." he replied happily. "Yeah, we could do with something to do anyway." added Twilight. When they made it to the cloud house they saw Rainbow Dash and Gavin flying around up above the house. Dan was a little disappointed; he didn't expect Gavin to ever learn how to fly. Then again Gavin never expected Dan to learn how to use his magic. "Yo Gav!" shouted Dan. "Wait a sec B!" Gavin yelled in response slowly flying down, he hadn’t really mastered landing yet. "Hey, so you can fly," said Dan, "that's pretty cool" "Yeah, how'd your magic thing go?" asked Gavin. "Awesome, I'm good." replied Dan. "Really?" Gavin directed towards Twilight. "Yeah, he's mastered three spells already." she replied happily. Rainbow Dash then did a large front flip and landed directly in front of Gavin in a striking pose. "Yeah, I'm awesome, I know already." boasted Rainbow Dash, rearing up. "Not as awesome as this!" yelled Gavin as he flew several feet into the air. "FRONT FL-" he began shouting before Rainbow Dash flew up and stopped him. "No." she asserted, making him pout. "You can practice that when nopony else is around." she added. "Fine." sighed the stallion before landing gently. Rarity then stepped forward. "Hello Gavin, will you please come with me and Dan to be measured for your suits?" she requested politely. "No problem." answered Gavin. Rarity then set off towards her boutique, followed by Dan and Gavin as she'd told the mares not to come. "Why didn't you want the others to come?" asked Dan. "Oh that would ruin the surprise!" She exclaimed, "They can't see their dresses before they're finished." "Seems legit." responded Gavin with a shrug. Not too long after they reached the building. Rarity held the door open and let the stallions in. Once inside, she instructed them to stand on a low platform each so it was easier for her to measure. She used a spell to hold them in place and set to work. She put the measuring tape up to their different body parts and used her magic to write the numbers down on her notepad. She worked quite quickly but she had lots of work to do. "Are you done yet?" moaned Dan, his hooves hurting. "Almost dear." she replied. She lied. Almost an hour and a half later she finally let them go from her spell and as soon as she did they collapsed on the floor. "My, it is quite late" she mumbled. She gently helped them up and looked out of the window to see Apple Jack walking up to the door. The farm pony reached the door and walked in, gasping when she saw the two ponies on the floor. "Good grief, what in tarnation happened here?!" she asked loudly. "I was measuring them from their suits and they may have collapsed when I broke the spell keeping them in place." Rarity replied sheepishly. "I didn't know they'd been asleep, I did wonder why they were so quiet though..." she added. Apple Jack crouched down in between the two stallions and shook them gently, one with either hoof. Gavin was first to open his eyes and sit up, shortly followed by Dan. "Argggghhh" mumbled Dan as he rubbed his eyes. "What happened" yawned Gavin. "Ya'll fell asleep while Rarity was measurin' ya" chuckled the orange earth pony. "Ah came to pick ya’ll up fer dinner." she added. "Good I'm hungry." muttered Dan, standing up. "Me too, cheers Rarity." added Dan. "Cheers?" she replied, confused "G'night Rarity." said AJ as she walked oh of the door, following the two tired stallions. They were all friendlier with each other now, making everything much less awkward. "So, how'd yer trainin' go?" asked Apple Jack. "Amazing." they both replied together. "Oh really?" she questioned, expecting it to be a disaster. "Yeah I can fly with a run up!" answered Gavin excitedly. "And I can do three spells!" added Dan. "Ah don't believe ya." teased Apple Jack playfully. "Oh yeah?" yelled Gavin as he galloped ahead and took off into the sky. "Ah guess that's pretty good." "Check this out" said Dan. AJ turned to look at him as he levitated a small rock in front if him. Apple Jack was surprised. She thought that it would've been harder to learn things like magic or flying. "Hey Gav, catch!" shouted the chestnut unicorn, using his magic to lob the rock at Gavin and hit him on the back. "Bastard!" screamed the pegasus as he lost control and fell. He managed to land safely at the last possible minute though. Gavin and Dan laughed it off, but that confused Apple Jack, how could your best friend throw a rock at you? It didn't seem right. She figured it was something that humans did, dismissed the thought and galloped ahead. She stopped in front of a group of apple trees and turned to look at the stallions. "Ya think what you can do is impressive? Take a look at this" she urged. The mare then bucked an apple tree gently so just two apples fell. She caught the apples on her hind hooves and kicked them up. She then caught them on her hat and tossed her head so they became airborne once more. Gavin and Dan watched on, they were impressed to say the least. She jumped up onto her hind legs and kicked the apples in a very precise angle. The angle of Gavin and Dan to be exact. They didn't have a chance to move before the apples hit them square in the face and splattered everywhere. The apples were soft because she'd bruised them so it didn't hurt. She expected then to be a little but mad but just laugh it off like they did with the rock but their reaction was quite different: The two stallions whooped and cheered loudly, clapping their hooves. "Awesome!" yelled Dan. "That was mental!" added Gavin. "What?" muttered Apple Jack, not knowing why they were cheering. "God you'd be great at footie!" replied Dan excitedly, fond memories filling his head. "Yeah, you could score a goal a mile off with that accuracy and power." added Dan. Apple Jack chuckled and headed towards the barn. "Can ya'll explain what ‘footie’ is over dinner, Ah'm mighty hungry." she laughed, and with that they all headed inside.
