Chapter 8
The Wedding of Derpy Hooves
The town of Ponyville was quiet, there was laughter, cheers, foals on the jump rope, ponies in their shops, and citizens enjoying their day. In the middle of town, there was nopony but they walked around the middle, a small tornado started to cycle in the middle as leaves swirled and a picture appeared. There laid a blue box, ponies everywhere pointed in confusion as a tan brown pony appeared from the box as you appeared after him with the sword strapped on your back. Ponies started to cheer as if it was a magic trick.
"Yes yes that's right, all magic and no unicorns involved." The Doctor announced as he pulled out a fez hat from within his jacket. "Money is accepted, bits, dollars, pounds, yen, anything. Yes I'll take anything." He said as he walked around collecting bits as you tap him on the shoulder.
"Doctor, about Derpy?" You ask in a stern tone.
"Oh yes," He paused as he placed the fez on top of a filly's head who smiled with glee at the souvenir. The Doctor grabbed you as you followed him in a familiar direction. "Now about the sword, we need to do something drastic. We have to stab her with it."
That caused your brain to snap inside like a twig at those words. "ARE YOU KIDDING ME DOCTOR!?!?" You yell at the top of your lungs as The Doctor places his hands in front of him in defense.
"Now Now just hold on, it won't kill her." The Doctor announces as your face turns only a little back. "The Sword of Mystery is an alien weapon built by one of my enemies, the sontarons. They built these swords for medics during the first years of the santarons. But when they discovered cloning, they had no use for them and sent them else where so they could create more wars. This sword does not kill, but heal, and if I combine my sonic with it, it can restore." The Doctor explains as you pull the sword out of it's scabbard. You gazed at it's golden blade as it shines like Celestia's sun on our face, you could feel scars beginning to disappear as you quickly retract the sword back into it's scabbard.
"Let's just get this to Derpy quick." You rushed in a flat tone as you and The Doctor start to walk towards Derpy's house. "You sure her mind won't burn when she see's you?"
"Actually, I have a safer plan. The powers of the TARDIS hold's all memories, even Derpy's. Hold onto the sword until the wedding, I will tell you later."
"Are you sure Doctor? Do I still have to stab her with it?"
"Yes, if Derpy find's the sword, make up a fake family tradition and go with it. I will be waiting until the reception, I love to dance anyways." The Doctor said with a smile as he smiled at you. You nod as you take the sword and walk towards Derpy's house, as for The Doctor, he walks back inside his blue box. Only time will tell the future.
Two months had passed as you sat comfortably on Derpy's couch. The sword laid hidden inside the basement of the house, inside a chest as it awaits it's proper user. You read through the books from the hollowed tree as a knocking came from your door, you look through the peep hole as you found Karat standing outside with a package. You open to find him smiling upon you with good news. "Karat, it's good to see you." You greet. "So it's done?"
"Yea the *whistles* is done." He averts as he hands you the box. "So, when are you going to uhh.... *whistles*?"
"Tonight, Pinkie has Sugar Cube Corner ready with everypony tonight so I can do it. I will ask Derpy as if it was a regular date, but when I 'do the thing' I will have everypony there to support her."
"Well, have fun with that life dude." He said as he shook your hand. "I hope you make a great dad."
"I'm sure I will." You said as Karat walked away into the sunset. Luckily he's not retired. You take the small box as you place it in your pocket, you head upstairs as you found Derpy's room, you tip open the door to find her gazing upon a picture of you, Derpy, and Dinky. You slowly creak open the door as you tip-toed your way towards the grey pegasus. You slowly crawl your arms over her shoulders as she places your hands on your arms like a scarf.
"Hello sweet muffin, how was your day." She said in a soft tone as she nuzzles your arms.
"It was great, and I'm going to make it greater."
"Oh? How?"
"By taking you out on a date tonight."
"But what about Dinky? I can't let her be alone tonight." Derpy concerns as she looks at the picture.
"We can take her, I want her to be there." So pronounce as you grab Derpy and press your lips against hers. Her wings pop up as she pulls you in for a more blissful kiss. You could taste the kinds of muffins she's loved as you rolled your tongue around hers. Your passionate kiss ends as she gazes into your eyes like Luna's stars and constellations. "C'mon, why don't we pick up Dinky and tell her about this night out? I'm sure she would love it." You said as you give a quick peck on Derpy's cheek as she springs up from the bed. The two of you walk out as you made your way towards the school house. As you walked down the roads of Ponyville, you notice a tall tan earth pony as he was entertaining local children with tricks and gadgets unknown to you. You squint your eyes as you notice it's The Doctor, he gives a wave at you at you wave back behind Derpy's back as you and Derpy continue walking towards the school.
Minutes pass as you and Derpy arrive shortly at the school house. As the two of you are mere yards from the school, a cream colored pegasus with a turquoise blue mane and a mail uniform came down flying at vast speed as she crashed near the two you. She pulled her head from the hard earth as she quickly grabs Derpy and stares at her with panic and relief. "DERPY! Thank Celestia it's you. The post office need's your help, there's an 'overload'." The cream pegasus said with a dramatic tone as Derpy gasps up a air bubble of panic.
"Oh no! Too much mail!? Let's go!" Derpy and other pegasus soon zoom out into the sky as Derpy pauses mid air and looks at you. "Can you please take Dinky home and watch her? I promise I will be home as soon as I can." Derpy said as she quickly zoomed into the direction of Ponyville. You shrug off the question as you followed as you are told, you walk up the small steps as you knock on the door. A dark magenta earth pony appeared as she gave a smirk at you.
"Oh hey it's you. Are you ready for the-"
"Don't mention it, not in front of Dinky, it's suppose to be a surprise." You wink as the teacher giggles. "But anyways I'm here to pick up Dinky."
"Oh yes, Dinky!" The teacher calls as the small grey unicorns gallops towards you and gives you a hug. You return the hug as you rub your fist against the filly's hair as she giggles for mercy.
"Hey kiddo, ready to go home?" The filly nods as you pick her up and place her legs around your neck. "Alright, let's go home, you hungry?"
"Yep, can I have Mc. Trotnolds please?"
"Yea sure." You answer as the grey unicorn claps in joy as you carry her all the way to the fast food restaurant. The two of you shortly arrive at the fast food restaurant as you ordered your food, You have a small Mc. daisy sandwich mini meal as Dinky orders another kid's meal. You take both meals in paper bags as you bring them outside and walk towards the fountain. "Let's eat outside, get some fresh air ya'know?"
"YES! I always wanted to eat Mc. Trotnolds outside." The unicorn said in a gleeful tone as the two of you sit on the fountain facing away from the water. The two of you sat, chat, and ate meals, as you finished your lunch you crumple the rest of your garbage inside the takeout bag. You struggle to crumple up the cardboard inside the bag as you made a medium sized ball. You throw it like a basket ball to the nearest local garbage can as it swishes right into the pile of garbage.
"Cooooool." You heard another filly admire as you look to find Dinky's friends standing nearby you. You could see the orange filly pegasus form an O shape on her mouth as she was fascinated by your swish. "That was AWESOME, how'd you do that?" She asks as she zooms up towards your face with admiration.
"Ehhhhhhhh... I don't know, luck I guess." You shrug as the filly's face frowned with disappointment.
"Well that's boring." The orange pegasus groans in annoyance as she crossed her arms. The three fillies looked at Dinky who had a timid look as if she was facing the princess herself.
"Hey Dinky, you ready for tonight?" The cream earth pony asked.
"Tonight? What do you mean?" The grey unicorn asked with a raised eyebrow.
"I mean at Sugar Cube Corner," That caused your brain to pause in emergency as you remember Pinkie inviting EVERYPONY except Dinky and Derpy. "Pinkie invited everypony to cooo-" The earth pony stops as you start crossing your neck indicating 'stop!' causing the filly to look around for a distraction. "toooo not come to Sugar Cube Corner because of a special event being taken there." The filly averted as Dinky had nothing but a blank expression on her face.
"Welll we should probably head home Dinky, Derpy could be back in any minute." You avert as Dinky nods and stands next to you.
"Okay let's go home, I need to work on the homework."
"Okay see you later Dinky." The white unicorn filly said as the three fillies started to run off into the distance.
"So, how was school today Dinky?" You ask curiously.
"Well, I heard rumors of Silver Spoon having a crush on Snails."
"Really? Okay I find that funny and strange, but love is unbreakable so...... I got nothing." You joke as Dinky continues on with her day. "So what else did you do?"
"Well, Mr. Kyle named me his number one student."
"That's amazing Dinky, HIGH FIVE!" You announce as you held up your palm as the grey unicorn filly slams your hand with massive force as you could feel your hand burn with adrenaline. The two of you shortly arrive at Derpy's house as you pull out a house key from your pocket and open the door. "Now when your napping, I'm gonna wake you up at 7 pm, we are going to Sugar Cube Corner for dinner tonight." The filly pauses as she looks at you with confusion.
"Sugar Cube Corner? Applebloom said that it was closed for a special event." The filly repeats as you look around for an excuse.
"Weeellllll she probably heard from rumors, c'mon get some sleep. We are going out tonight and you and your mom will love tonight, trust me." The filly nods as she slowly walks upstairs with legs like bags as she closes her door and all you could hear, was a soft snoring coming from her room. You calmly slump yourself on the couch as you pick up the newspaper, you quickly look at the clock which read 4 o'clock pm. "Only two of hours of the news, better get cracking." You claim to yourself as you start reading the latest news.
You place the news paper down on the coffee table after a few hours of new news. You glance at the clock reading that it is 5 pm. You still had time to plan the 'special night'. You needed to go to Sugar Cube Corner to check on the 'special night' in case anything goes wrong, you open the door realizing you forgot something. Dinky was still home, and she would be alone. You pinched your forehead as your mind was plagued with different ideas and solutions but was blocked with complications of different roads. "Hey mister." A young sweet voice spoke.
Your mind continued with different solutions but complcations, What to do... what to do....?
"Hey mister?" A southern voice spoke up.
ARRRGGHH I can't leave Dinky, but I really need to check up on the restaurant!!!
"Hey troll bait!" You heard a rude tone as you look to find Dinky's friend's with a confused look on their faces. "You okay? You seem like your in a pickle." The orange pegasus stated as you give a sigh of relief.
"Oh great Dinky's friends. Can you help me with something?" You ask desperately as you knelt down on the ground.
"With what?" Asked the little cow filly.
"Can you take Dinky out to hang out with you girls for a little bit, please?" You ask desperately as liquid bullets started to river down your head.
"What's in it for us?" Asked the orange pegasus.
"Uh.....free ice cream?" You shrugged as the three fillies beamed with joy as they ran inside your house. They shortly arrived with Dinky as she stops and faces you.
"Um, I'm going to go play with my friends, is that okay?" The grey unicorn asks in a nervous tone.
"Yea sure, go on ahead, just be back by 7." You state as the filly nods and runs into the distance with her friends. You blow out a heavy sigh of relief as a heavy weight was lifted from your shoulder. You get to your feet as you start walking towards Sugar Cube Corner. After a short walking distance, you arrive at the sugar covered diner as you enter to find multiple ponies setting up party supplies. You found Pinkie Pie behind the counter as she was talking to a few of her friends, especially the purple unicorn. "Pinkie." The party mare turns around as she gives you an excited smile.
"Hey it's you again! It's almost ready, we just need the cake."
"Okay, I'm going to get Derpy and Dinky, just make this look like a regular date. After I *whistles*, you pop out and start the party." You instruct as the six mares in front of you salute with dependability. You nod at them as you walk out of the party house towards home, as you walked home you noticed a creamy peachy furred mare with a blond curly mane sitting on a nearby bench reading a blue book that was shaped in a familiar form. The book mare takes her eye off her book as she gives a quick wink towards you as she stands up and walks away and gives you one last wink. "Who the moon was that? And why did she look so familiar?" You ask yourself as you shrug and head off home.
Upon reaching home, you enter the living to find Dinky sitting on the couch reading Daring Do. "Dinky have you seen your mom?"
"No, but I think that's her in the distance." The filly said as she points out the window. You look out the window as you could see a crashing pegasus heading towards the house, you quickly run outside as you stand in the area of the crash prediction with your eyes closed awaiting the pain. You await hell as a cloud of puff, smoke, and dusk shroud over your directions as you were blinded by dust. You slowly creak open your eyes as you found Derpy simply flying in front of you with a bright smile on her face.
"Sorry I'm late, it was a lot of mail." The malemare informed as you pulled her in. "So we going to Sugar Cube Corner tonight?" Derpy asked excitingly.
"Yea, just get dressed because I'm going to make this night memorable." You proclaim as Derpy goes upstairs. You patiently await downstairs as you felt the hardness of a rock hurl into the side of your face. You fall the to floor in pain as Dinky runs to your side holding your head in aid. "Owwwwwwwwwwww." You wince in pain as your eyes closed to try and endure the pain.
"Are you okay?" Dinky asked as you rubbed your head.
"Yea... I think so. What hit me?" You ask through pain.
"This blue box." Dinky states as your eyes widen and you quickly spring up. You turn to find a small pocket version of The Doctor's TARDIS, it was light and had a slight opening like a pod. You open the TARDIS pod as you find a single velvet black clip on bow tie. You also find a small card inside the mini TARDIS signed from 'The Doctor'.
Bow ties are cool :D
You became confused as to why The Doctor sent you a bow tie. You shrug as you clip on the bow tie as you look at yourself in the mirror. "Cool." You say to yourself as you heard footsteps coming from downstairs. Her dress was simple long and stylish with a base of light brown and a bottom stripe of light gray. "How do I look?" She asks with a slight blush.
"Like the ultimate muffin." You joke as Derpy nudges you in laughter.
"Alight enough joke, let's go."
"Right."
You both arrive at the exterior of the sweet house, you look around to find Pinkie waving at you on the roof top. You give a small nod as the pink mare gives a thumbs up and sinks back into the restaurant. You enter as the disguise played perfectly, actors as eating food, Pinkie was chatting with costumers and the owners were in the back. You pull out a chair for both Derpy and Dinky as they kindly accepted your gesture as you sit down yourself. "Thank you." Derpy said as Pinkie Pie walked up towards your table.
"Hey guys, welcome to SCC, any drinks?" The pink mare asks as you and the two other mares pick up their menus.
"I'll have your 'finest wine for two please'." You said in a wink as the waitress pony winks at you. "And a child's cider for Dinky please." You ordered as the waitress mare wrote down your orders and walked towards the back. "So Derpy, how was the so call 'overload'? You ask to bring up the mood.
"Oh where should I start? There were so many letters, I thought it was as endless as space." Derpy said as the whole table laughs at the minor torture. "What about you Dinky? What happened with you?"
"Well, I am Mr. Kyle's number one student." The grey filly unicorn said in a proud tone as her mother gave you a bear hug as the unicorn could feel her eyes acting like soda bottles.
"EEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so proud of you my little muffin, I can't believe your number 1!!!" The pegasus mother said in a gleeful tone as her child pulled her away.
"Thanks mom but you're kind of crushing me." The filly pleaded as her mother quickly let go and scratched the back of her head in embarrassment.
"Sorry." The mailmare gives a quick look at you. "So, how are you going to make this night so special? One that we wouldn't forget?" The grey pegasus asks in a curious tone.
You give a small chuckle as you stood from your seat, the mother and child give a confused look as you walk next to Derpy. "Well, I know it's the right 'time'." You exclaim the last word as everypony started to stand up and walk towards your table, more ponies appeared from no where as you were surrounded with almost everypony in Ponyville. Derpy could feel something beat in her chest, it felt like a muffin that was freshly baked, poked with a tooth pick for stability, and eaten with dignity. Her legs felt like jelly as you knelt down on one knee and pulled out a small black box from your pocket.
"Derpy Thunder Hooves, will you make me the happiest stallion in the world by marrying me?"
Inside, Derpy could feel her heart explode with a flavor of love and joy as tears of joy started to river down her cheeks. Her jaw dropped open as nothing escaped from her mouth as there was no wheres to explain how happy she was. She slowly moves her arm with quivers as you holds your hand and the box and says in soft and lovely tone.
"Yes...a thousand times...yes." She leaned in as she pressed her lips against yours, you could feel that this one felt...different. It was a lot more passionate as you could taste something new, a flavor that no chef, scientist, nor princess would ever explain, but the one name that you would give it...was love. Dinky had the biggest smile on her face as everypony cheered for the newly committed couple as you slowly and softly break the kiss. You both stood up as you pulled in Derpy close and embraced her with love and compassion as fake snows of white and gold began to rain down in the room as music only the two of you could here. It was a song that only you two could hear, a song that was different for every couple, the song of love. There was no sounds, no tunes, no taps, just the music in your head.
"I love you Derpy." You confess as the grey pegasus looks you deeply in the eyes as she could see a sparkle in your eyes.
"And I love you too." She confesses back as the two of you shared one final kiss for the night as the party commenced and the love bud bloomed releasing pollen shaped of hearts.
