//------------------------------// // Wishing on a star. // Story: Getting Your Wish // by DJ-LUN3RDA5H //------------------------------// The sun was setting and the sky was starting to darken, this was his favorite time of day when the sky was colored with a variety of dark blues but the horizon in the distance still had it's warm orange glow. He was laying down on a blanket out in the middle of a fairly large open area of land covered in lush green grass just to gaze at the sky as stars started to wink into existence right before his very eyes. The reason he was out and so far away from home was simple it was April twenty-second and that night until midnight there was predicted to be a meteor shower with an estimate of a hundred meteors an hour going across the night sky. It was a site he did not want to miss out on and was determined to see. The last of the stars had come out when it started slowly with just a streak across the night sky but it slowly started to pick up and he watched as the lights flew across the sky the site bringing a smile to his lips as an old memory washed over him a saying that every parent told their children as they grew up. "If you wish on a falling star your wish will come true. But don't tell anyone what you wished for until it comes true or it never will." "If only." He sighed as he reached up to the sky watching the meteors fly between his fingers. But he was no fool no he knew that those things flying in the sky weren't stars they were chunks of rocks not stars even if wishing on a falling star worked it would be almost impossible to find one as they were usually huge things that would most of the time only fall into a black holes orbit, that and they also burn for thousands of years so everyone was pretty much out of luck in the wish granting department. Or so he thought, while looking at the space between his index and middle finger he watched as a star grew brighter then disappeared like someone just flipped a light switch on it causing it to go out. He sat up on his blanket and stared in disbelief. "Well I'll be damned I think I just saw a sun supernova. Now if anything counts as a falling star that would be it." So he went into thought thinking about what he would wish for. Money? Eternal youth? Power? To be a ruler of his own land? A glass of Chocolate milk to appear in his hand just so his stupid in ability to chose wouldn't waste a perfectly good wish? No he settled on something. "Ok I wish that I could go to Equestria even if it was for just one day." He spoke confidently. Then he waited and nothing happened. "Knew it was too good to be true at least I saw something cool. Oh shit! What if there was life on a planet orbiting that star? Ohh that would really be a bad day, and here I am wishing on the possible deaths of billions." He lazed back onto his blanket and looked up at the spot where the star used to be, only now a red glint caught his eye and the glint slowly started to grow bigger and bigger heading straight for him he scrambled to his feet as a flaming rock about thirty meters wide broke the atmosphere and started heading right for him. He knew the rock was far too large for him to try to escape the impact zone so the man sighed and accepted his fate. "This is what I get for wishing on a supernova that might have killed billions. Ok show me what you got." He said as he braced himself for death. "One wish down two to go." A mysterious voice spoke. ~{G}~{Y}~{W}~ A loud ringing filled his ears and he could see nothing but white. As his vision started to focus and the ringing in his ears died down he started to notice his surroundings slowly. He sat in a forest surrounded by trees holding his head in his hands when the ringing finally died down he started to hear it. Voices in the distance he couldn't make out what they were saying but he followed them regardless. It was an early morning and sun had just begun to rise the forests thick canopy was blocking most of the light from the sun but every couple of yards a ray of light would break through and pour onto the forest floor lighting it up. When he reached the forest edge the man tripped and stumble down a short way till he landed on a small dirt path. When his gaze fell on the village the dirt path led to his jaw dropped. "Oh hell no." The man said shaking his head and pinching himself, "Nope. Nope. No way not possible. Just a really lucid dream that's all. I'll just sit here and wait till I wake up that's all. Yeah.... Good." The man sat on the ground for a few minutes staring the down the village in the distance as he waited for his dream to end. "Oh screw this I can't just sit here that's Ponyville over there for gods-sake." He promptly stood up and made a mad dash for the town in the distance just as it's residents were starting to wake up. As the human started to stroll through the town he looked in wonder at the houses and buildings that surrounded them it was then that he heard a familiar voice off in the distance as he followed it he came across none other than Pinkie Pie loading sacks of flour and sugar from a cart while humming a tune to herself. The man went to go run towards her to say hello, but an evil grin spread across his face as he came up with an idea. When the pink pony went inside of Sugarcube Corner with her load he set his plan in action. When she came out of the building to grab the next load of flour she happily trotted up to the cart and removed the sack of flour. "Boo" The human shouted when the sack was removed scaring the party pony into jumping and dropping the on her head covering her with flour. Seeing the usually pink party pony covered from head to hoof in flour the human chuckled. "What's wrong Pinkie? You look white as a sheet, did I scare you?" He said as he got off the cart and started to pick up what was left of the sack of flour. Pinkie stared at the human for a while before a huge grin broke out across her face. "OH MY GOSH! You're new around here! Hi my name's Pinkie Pie what's your's? Wait you already knew my name how? Have we met somewhere before? Are you a spy? Do you have cool spy gizmo's? Do you have grappling gun? Can I have one?" "Hello. John. Can't tell you. No. No. Not on me. No. And if I had one to spare I would." He answered coolly, "Mind giving me a tour around town?" "Sure! I just have to finish this first." "Okay then let me help so we can finish faster." After helping Pinkie finish up work she and John stood in the main store area Sugarcube Corner. "Cupcake?" Pinkie asked holding out a tasty treat to her unusual guest. John reached for the pastry but stopped when a thought crossed his mind that made him lose interest. Yeah No way I'm eating a cupcake offered by Pinkie without any witness around I don't want this dream to end up a nightmare and end up like poor Rainbow in that fic.....ugh. "No thanks Pinkie I'm fine." He politely declined. "Oh well.. more for me." Pinkie said as she munched the whole cupcake in one bite. "Let's go, first stop Sweet Apple Acres." John followed the pony down the road with his hands in his pockets. Soon the path started to become void of houses and rows upon rows of apple trees took hold of the scenery. Off in the distance a thunk sounded. "Oh that must be Applejack! Come on lets go say hi." Pinkie said as she bounced off. "Hiya, Pinkie what y'all doin' all the way out here?" Applejack greeted her friend as Pinkie bounced over. "Oh I was giving a new friend of mine a tour around town." Pinkie said as she turned around to show Applejack her new friend, only to be met with an open space. "Huh where'd it go?" "It?" Applejack said as she looked at her friend questionably, "Sugarcube what do you mean by it?" "She means me." Applejack spun around to see the human hanging upside down in the tree next to her holding an apple. "Can I have this?" "There you are! Applejack this is John, John Applejack." "Hello" "Howdy... Uh Pinkie can I talk to you for a minute?" "Sure!" Pinkie said following Applejack just out of earshot. "Uhh.. Pinkie what is that?" she said pointing a hoof over to the human who was happily chewing away on an apple still hanging upside-down in the tree. "Huh? You know what I didn't ask. Just said it's name was John it's seemed pretty nice, it even helped me finish work so we could go on a tour of the town. Wow would you look at the time we better get going I want to show him everything. See you later Applejack." Pinkie said as she began to happily bounce away with the human following close behind the crazy pink mare. Applejack let loose a sigh as she watched the human wave to her as he left, "I better go'n tell Twi about this." Meanwhile John watched in amusement as Pinkie walked through the town pointing a hoof towards random buildings and giving a brief history or telling a story about them. When they left the farm Pinkie mentioned something about seeing Rarity about a collaboration project the two were planning to do together. She said it was a secret but it didn't take a genius to figure out what a candy maker and a fashion designer would work on together. He thought he should feel a little weird about the idea of ponies having editable lingerie but he always had a "fun" sense of humor as some would put it. Before he knew it John was standing in the front of Rarity's home and workplace, without any hesitation Pinkie and her new human friend walked into the building. Once inside a voice echoed from a different room. "Hello and welcome! If you could please give me a second I seem to have my hooves tied up at the moment." "Hiya! Rarity I just came by to pick up that list of things you needed for our project. I thought It might be just super-de-duper if I could introduce you to to my new friend John!" Pinkie exclaimed excitedly. "Well hello John uhh I wish I could come greet you properly but I am a bit busy sorry. Oh and Pinkie the list you need is over on the table." Pinkie quickly snagged the list off of the table and said a quick goodbye to Rarity before bouncing out of the building. "Farewell Lady Rarity I hope we meet again sometime soon." the man said trying to hold back a laugh. Rarity kindly bit the human good-day before he too left the building following after his hyperactive pink friend. It was about two hours later that Pinkie and John approached their last stop none other than The Golden Oaks Library and home to Twilight Sparkle. The two pushed the doors open freely and entered as it was business hours. While Pinkie started rambling off some story about something or other John had taken the liberty to browse the selection of books that were offered. It was only when everything in the library became deathly silent that he turned around to see why. John took in the sight before him and his grin only grew larger with every pony he saw. His eyes slowly passed down the line of them one by one taking in the sight of Twilight Sparkle and her five friends all sitting in front of him looking like they were waiting for the answer to a very important question. His face fell into a visible scowl though when his eyes stopped on a rather small pathetic excuse for what was supposed to be a fearsome creature. A tiny purple dragon wearing a frilly apron. His sudden change in demeanor shocked the ponies causing all of them to shrink back a bit except for two Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash stood resilient the ladder from arrogance and pride the former because she knew the human was no threat. If one listened close enough they could make out the human mumble something along the lines of "Fake dragon." "Well?" Twilight spoke up breaking the humans Dark thoughts about trying to use "The Force" to try and choke the purple dragon to see that color it would become. "I'm sorry I missed that come again?" The human replied kindly his smile returning when he noticed twilight had two wings placed on her back. Cool so at least I'm here after the season three finale. Oh that means everything is new from here on out I wonder if I'll see Discord that would be fun. "I asked you what you are." Twilight said breaking the human from his thoughts once more. "Oh well that is simple Twilight I am a human, scientific name Homo-sapien." In the background John heard Applejack chuckle as Rainbow let out a sigh and said, "Damn looks like I owe Lyra ten bits." Twilight gave a quick cough to bring the bemused human's attention back to her, "What is your name?" she asked. "My name is John though some know me as Galactus Eater of worlds, the man who single-handedly blacked out four suns to date. I am here to consume your world and .... Hahaha no sorry I can't do it I tried but damn those looks on your faces are priceless." He said wiping a single tear from his eye from laughing too hard. "Okay okay sorry about that. No my name Is John I am hardly of any importance back in my world. Twilight's expression along with her friend's changed to one of shock. "Did you say your world? You're from a different world? How did you get here? What's your planet like? OH I have soo many questions." The human put up his hands to keep the pony from jumping him and calmly said, "Most of which will go unanswered Twilight calm down. I'm not here to answer questions all day." "Wait a minute why are you here?" Rainbow questioned from her spot hovering in the air while giving the human a suspicious glare. The human in turn began to shift uncomfortably he knew this might happen, but he had not properly prepared for it and when his nervous glances were picked up by Twilight she slowly begin to back away muttering. "I should tell the Princess." "NO!" The human shouted, "Please don't do that i will answer as many of your questions as I can but please don't tell Celestia I'm here. Look if I'm right I only have one day here before I'm gone anyway, I promise I won't make trouble today. Cross my heart hope to fly stick a cupcake in my eye." He said as he went through the motions of the Pinkie promise. "How did you know how to do a Pinkie promise?" Rainbow asked, "I thought you said you came from a different world." "Somethings travel very very far until they find home somewhere else as an idea, thought, and rarely even objects." The human said after some thought after all he couldn't just say he saw Pinkie do it on the T.V. If he told them they were a work of fiction in his world they might suffer a bit of a reality crisis. So he decided to create crafty lies to keep everyone happy. After some conversation and working through things properly the group came to an agreement Twilight and her friends would make the humans time in Equestria "fun" but if anything were to happen Celestia would be informed immediately and his time would be less than pleasant. The group then spent most of their day hang out playing various games teaching one another about their respective species and the basics of their culture. At one point when they were in the park they came across none other than Lyra who after accepting Rainbow's bits for winning their bet played a song at the humans request. To cheer up his rainbow-maned friend he happily picked her front hooves up and danced with her in a waltz. It only took some trickery and a challenge from the human to get the pegasus to dance and Rainbow proved be as graceful at dancing as she was when she soared through the skies. When the dance came to an end the cheers of all the onlookers that had their attention caught from what they saw made Rainbow blush and John took a bow and happily waved to all the ponies. If you were to ask the human it was the best dance he had ever had and if you asked Rainbow she would change the subject so fast it would give any in earshot whiplash. Now though the sun was starting to set and the day drew to a close, the group of friends found a nice hill in Applejack's orchard that had one of the largest apple trees the human had ever seen on it. Most of the ponies lay under the tree enjoying the sunset but the human and Rainbow sat high on a branch in the tree. John was happily munching away on an apple and watching the horizon and Rainbow was watching the human. Finally she broke the silence between the two, "How did you get here?" The human stopped before his next bite and looked up at the cyan mare before him then he smiled, "I wished on a star." After night fell the ponies started to leave till it was just Twilight, Rainbow, and John walking through the sleeping town. Twilight stopped and stared at John causing him to also stop and raise an eyebrow at her. "You're going to be here all night aren't you?" The human just shrugged, "I guess when I got here it was early morning so I'll probably be here till then." Twilight looked at John as if he just missed something obvious, "You don't have a place to sleep." "Oh... Yeah I guess not." "If you want I have a spare bed at the library you could use tonight." He seemed to take a moment to consider it before a grin broke across his face and he looked up at the two mares. "Well while I appreciate your offer I would love to sleep on a cloud tonight it would be a first for me and if I remember correctly I heard Rainbow over here bragging about how she made her house out of clouds all by herself. So what do you say Rainbow can I be you house guest for the night? I swear when you wake up I won't even be there." "Well sure why not but uhh.. can you even walk on a cloud without falling right through it?" Rainbow asked concerned about her new friends safety. In reply the human warped his arm around the purple alicorn and cleared his throat, "Hello Rainbow Dash this is Twilight Sparkle a good friend of mine who happens to have magical powers including if I'm not wrong the ability to cast a cloud walking spell." he said teasingly. "Oh." "Fine I'll help but it's getting late so I'll see you two later." With those words said Twilight's horn flared and the human was surrounded in her magic aura for a brief moment. When the spell when done she said her goodbyes and trotted home to bed. With Twilight gone the two walked to rainbows house and when they reached it John looked up at the floating cloud home and let out a whistle, "Not bad, not bad at all." "Wait till you see the inside." Rainbow said starting to fly up to her home. "And how exactly do you want me to get up there?" "Oh..." Rainbow floated back to the ground and crouched a bit with her wings spread, "Get on I'll fly you up." The flight was short and before he knew it John was in Rainbow Dash's house walking on clouds and loving every second of the time he was breaking physics as he knew it. Rainbow left to go prepare a room for him or something but John was barely paying attention as he started to explore the home. Rainbow was his favorite character from the show after all and this was a rare opportunity that he was going to take advantage of. His fun however was cut short when he heard Rainbow call for him from the second floor of the house and he quickly ascended the cloud stairs to make his way over to a room where he saw the door ajar just a bit. What he saw in the room shocked him, Rainbow lay on a cloud bed in a very suggestive position wearing four rainbow striped socks and a grin on her face. "I figured out a way you and I can both have some fun tonight I hope you like the cloud bed because you won't be doing much sleeping" Rainbow said in a sultry tone. The man just grinned back as he started to strip off his clothes he mumbled to himself under the grin "So many would kill to be me right now." After they finished their activities for the night Rainbow and John lay in the bed together each with tired smiles. The human kissed the forehead of the pegasus, "I wish I never had to leave." He said as sleep took hold of him. "Two down one to go choose your last wish carefully."
