Damage Control

The heist that was pulled at Filthy Rich's mansion was all the populace of Ponyville could talk about the next day. Newspapers and even a couple of TV crews reported on the aftermath of the robbery, all of them having the body count just past a hundred dead, yet none of them were civilians. Filthy Rich himself came back to Ponyville as soon as he could, where he did his best to comfort his daughter. Despite the massive loss to his wealth, he was still fairly rich, so that didn't concern him too much. However, he vowed revenge on those who pulled the heist, which he performed by giving the local police force a lot of funding.

Of course, he wasn't the only victim; the various colts and fillies who attended were scared out of their minds, and a few of them, Diamond Tiara included, needed to go to therapy for a while. The adults didn't fare much better, though none of them needed professional help. Instead, they spoke with friends about it and voiced their fears, which was why Applejack was at the library, talking to Twilight about it late at night.

"And one o' them no good crooks kicked me! Even if they didn't scar Apple Bloom, Ah'd tear 'em a new one!" the orange mare said.

"I'm just glad neither of you were seriously hurt," her bookworm friend replied. "I never thought that random crime could happen here in Ponyville." Nearby, Kevin sat in a chair, reading the newspaper yet again. There were a few pictures of the assailants, but none of them were very clear, and they wore masks, anyway, so a clear view of their face wasn't possible.

"With how they seemed to pull it off," he began, "I don't think this was any kind of random crime. They knew exactly what they were doing."

"Really?" Twilight was intrigued. "What makes you say that?"

"Well, for one, Filthy's mansion seems pretty ambitious for the target of a simple random crime. And they obviously were well armed. In fact..." Kevin looked closely at the picture in the newspaper. "I think... I think these might be the same guys that pulled all kinds of robberies back home."

"You mean t' tell me that this wasn't their first time?" Applejack asked.

"Far from it. Before the portals opened, I remembered hearing about when they robbed a bank, and with only one civilian getting killed, but hundreds of law enforcement. They can't be in it for the money, though; they'd have well over enough to live happily."

Unbeknownst to any of the three, a camera on the wall turned towards them and focused in.

"Well, regardless of why they do it, if they really are those same criminals," Twilight said, "then I should write a letter to Princess Celestia about it." She looked upstairs before yelling, "Spike!"

"Didn't Spike go stay at Rarity's tonight, to help the Crusaders with something?" Kevin asked.

Twilight sighed impatiently. "Of course, the one time I need to send a letter... Oh well, I'll just use e-mail." She walked over to her own computer, and loaded up the e-mail program. After typing it out, she hit send.

"Come on, come oooon... Yes!"

Grinning at his success, Bain opened the intercepted e-mail and read through it quickly. He deleted it before typing out a short response, telling Twilight to not worry, that they'll probably not strike again.

Walking up behind him, Dallas asked, "What are you doing, Bain?"

"Someone tried to report us to the princess, requesting a stronger police force and even military support!" he said, laughing. "But I intercepted, and sent her a fake reply."

"Nice job, Bain. What would we do without you?"

"You'd probably do just fine, but not before killing the entire police force of the state," Bain joked.

"Hey, if they want to keep flooding in, that's their problem. Anyway, anything new?"

"Yeah. I was contacted by a new client not too long ago, requesting our services."

"What time?"

"They didn't give a deadline, just said to do it 'soon.' All I know is that it involves the local hospital."

Chains walked into the computer room. "What's this talk I hear about hospitals?"

"We probably have a job at one, soon," Dallas explained.

"It better not go like that Mercy hospital job went. I can't have the army going after us again."

"Don't worry, this one should be much lower scale," Bain said. "The four of you will check it out tomorrow, then we'll hit the place."

"Sounds good." Chains laughed. "Not even two days after our first heist, and we already have at least two more scoped out."

"Well, you know how we are," Dallas said, "Action is our juice."

"Damn straight."
