The Funny Brain

On the last episode of Wimpie Pie Z, our young mare finally drew the strength to battle the evil forces of Friend and Zone, as she slowly wak...

"Good morning to you too, Brain". An annoyed tone filled Pinkie's pillow. After the groan, she stuffed her face on the pillow again and hugged it, retrying to gather her sleep. There was a momentary pause on her body.

Get up! You need to go to Rarity's! Pinkie's Brain took control of her hind legs. Like a robot, her lower limbs pointed outwards of the bed and stood on their own. The lifeless upper body of the mare got dragged around the room. First the bed, then the nightstand and finally the door. It was then when Pinkie had enough of being slammed around and held control of her body's functions.Instead of fighting, she sat on the floor and yawned. Suddenly, the bedroom door opened and with it Mr. and Mrs. Cake. Their eyes frantically searching for something out of place.

"Good MORNING!" Pinkie shouted, completely unfazed.

Both ponies blankly stared at the smiling mare sitting in the middle of the room. They quietly stepped back and closed the door behind them. A simple "Good morning" escaped Mrs. Cake's lips. The old couple didn't bother to question what had happened.

The room grew unpleasantly silent, once more. A sigh as her eyes closed, was the only relief available. Slowly opening them, the central view her eyes found was the window.

Must be around six in the morning, if that's what you are wondering

She smirked at the thought.

"Thanks. By the way, do you think you could tone it down a bit? I can get up just fine and do it without crashing into everything"

Yeah, yeah. Come on! Let's go! You need to talk to Rarity!

"I can't yet! I need to work, first" Pinkie gave her brain a reminder, which was kind of ironic.

But the mission!

"I'll ask Mrs. Cake if I can work until lunch," she assured.

After winning the argument, a quick freshening up was in order. Trotting over to the bathroom, Pinkie was greeted by Gummy, who proceeded on biting Pinkie's face. She giggled and settled him down on the floor. She entered the bathroom, brushed her teeth and took a shower. After drying herself up, Pinkie raced downstairs to the kitchen, where she initiated her baking ritual. A smile, continuously forged in her face, was the mask used as the busy day of Sugarcube Corner commenced. Several hours passed, but Pinkie didn't stop thinking about her objective. Every so often she would eye the clock on the wall, while excitingly baking the orders that were given out. Time seemed like a blur.

The clock placed itself at twelve. Pinkie instantly approached Mrs. Cake, with her request.

"Mrs. Cake, I was wondering if I could have the evening off, because I have this potato, but I don't know how to peel it. So I must ask my friends if they know how to peel it and yes, it is very important to peel this potato. Because this potato will determine.." she was cut off by Mrs. Cake's nod. The old mare was already accustomed to all of Pinkie's petitions, and she saw how much Pinkie worked for the last few hours.

"Go, Pinkie. We can take care of the rest." she said softly with a smile towards her "almost daughter".

This was all that Pinkie needed to hear. Like a flash, she disappeared through the front door. and made her way to the Carousel Boutique. Bouncing half of the way, she greeted everypony she found. This was a habit she needed to do. Her joy needed to be shared, and this couldn't be stopped, not even by her most pressing matters. After crossing the bridge, Pinkie saw Rarity's home and this fueled her energetic self. Her trot increased and so did her determination. As Pinkie neared the entrance she saw somepony open the front door of the Carousel Boutique. It was Twilight Sparkle.

Great squiggly wiggly, Pinkie! Distraction art number seventeen! her brain shouted at her. In a blink of an eye, Pinkie took out from her mane several pink balloons. She filled them up and crafted a life size duplicate of herself, while immediately lunging herself at the nearest tree, next to the Carousel. The lifeless balloon creation stood in the middle of the road. Twilight turned around after saying goodbye to Rarity, to only see a pink figure near the middle of the road.

"...Pinkie?" she asked as she approached the balloon figure. Twilight stared at it dumbfounded, when it became clear it was only a life size balloon animal of her friend. As she tried to poke it, one of the balloons popped loudly. A jolt cued her body. The whole thing flew away in a frantic, circular matter. Only to deflate completely several steps away from her. Pinkie paid close attention to her crush, from the tree she was in. Twilight searched around for Pinkie but it was to no avail. Brushing the events off, Twilight walked casually back to town.

As soon as Twilight left her eyesight, Pinkie slowly climbed down the tree and knocked on Rarity's door.

"Come in!" a voice encouraged.

Pinkie slammed the door open and dashed towards Rarity. The moment Rarity turned around Pinkie was already staring at her eyes. Rarity couldn't help but fall back.

"Pinkie!" she shouted.

"That's me!" Pinkie shouted back.

Rarity composed herself and approached her pink haired friend.

"Darling, how many times I have told you, not to barge in like that?!"

"Well counting today it has been one hundred and thirty-two" her iedetic memory served a good purpose.

Rarity ignored her friend's precise number and asked what was it, she wanted. Though Rarity was completely busy with orders, she always took time to answer to her friend's needs.

"Well long story short i'm trying to peel this potato, and I think you can help me. See this potato has been cooking for a while, and though I promised I wasn't going to eat it, I thin-" Rarity placed a hoof on her mouth.

"Pinkie, please use coherent sentences, I am very busy and I have no time to try to translate what you are saying".

Pinkie nodded and took a deep breath. "I have a crush on somepony".

"Ohhh, so this is what's all about," she cooed as her curiosity increased. "Who's the stal-" Rarity stopped and corrected herself. She was so used to talking about stallions, she frequently forgot Pinkie didn't go that way. "Who's the lucky mare?"

"I can't say, it's a secret. But I can tell you she is cute and smart and amazing an-" Again interrupted by a hoof.

"Okay, okay, I get it. So you are obviously here for advice, am I correct?" she aired herself as being experienced in relationships. Pinkie simply nodded.

"Well darling, presentation is everything. If you want anypony to notice you, you have to look your best. Wear your best dress, use your finest accessories, and fix your hair. Once you look your best, approach said pony and talk casually with them. Be very interested in what they are talking about, make sure you make some kind of physical contact. Maybe a little touch to their hoof now and then. These cues are very important, they will tell the pony, that you are looking for something more. If the pony asks you on a date, or wants to spend an evening, then you are in! There's no necessity on telling them how you feel because the cues will do that for you. " Rarity couldn't hold back a smile at her advice.

A puzzled look crawled upon Pinkie. "...really? Is that it?"

"Yes, that's all there's to it. I would love to keep chatting with you Pinkie but I am very busy." Rarity started pushing Pinkie outside. "Call me to let me know, how'd it go. Okay? Byeeee". She closed the door behind Pinkie, who was now blankly staring at the dirt road in front of her. Still skeptical about her friend's advice Pinkie started walking down the road.

Well it seems like we have a game plan! Let's go back to the Sugarcube, and invite Twilight somewhere! That way we can follow Rarity's plan. Oh gosh, I don't have my hair curler with me! That's ok, I'll just go get it. In the meanwhile i'm just going to leave the dress in the oven so it can get ready. a door seemed to open and close, inside Pinkie's head.

The pink mare was too focused on the matter to notice her brain "mentally leaving".

"I just don't know...although some of the things Rarity said made sense, I can't see myself wearing a dress. They are very constrictive, and my hair is fine the way it is...right?" Pinkie whispered to herself.

Without noticing, she trailed off from the road whilst debating with herself, and slowly approaching the entrance of the Everfree Forest.

"I mean...I DO wanna look good and I want to spend time with Twilight. But... I don't know what she meant about the "cues". All of this just feels...odd." her head moved in disapproval. "Rarity has more experience about this sort of thing. I'm just going to follow her advice!". The idea didn't settle well in her head, but she had no other option.

Suddenly a door opened and closed again.

I'm back. I don't what you said Pinkie, but by judging the tone of your voice you don't agree one hundred percent. Rarity just didn't give you the answer you were looking for. It was vague, like Big Mac's face. Which was struck with a mace, in the shape of a vase. her brain sang a bit. Just ask somepony else!

An actual good advice from her brain stopped Pinkie in her tracks.

"But who can help me?" she moved her pupils upwards.

The answer will be given to you if you roll on the floor right now!!!! a shout in her head.

As expected Pinkie didn't think twice about throwing herself on the floor and commenced the rolling. She kept rolling around in bushes and twigs, she was now having fun. If there was something Pinkie was glad, it was that she had her brain to always randomize her actions. After a few minutes, of pure twisting and turning around in the grass and also falling in some bushes as well, Pinkie came to a stop. She stood on all fours and gazed forward.

Fluttershy's House.
