//------------------------------// // Chapter 7 The race to walk // Story: The Slow Mo Stallions // by gamershot //------------------------------// The mane 6 sat at the side of Gavin and Dan's for what seemed like forever. They'd talked at first and that was okay, but a patient complained about the noise. They were just sitting there. Doing nothing. Bored out of their minds. Spike had joined them not long after they got there, prepared to send the letter to Celestia. Eventually Gavin's head moved slightly. The girls sat up straight and stared at him, hoping this was the end of their boredom. After a while the chances of him moving again were pretty slim and one by one they slumped back down in their seats. A few hours later, the mane 6 was asleep in their chairs. It was late now, but they knew they couldn't leave until Gavin and Dan had come to terms with being ponies. Dan's eyes flickered open and he slowly sat up. His vision was blurry and it was dark so he could hardly see a thing. "This is odd" he though to him self, "I don't remember going to bed. In fact, this doesn't even feel like my bed. He lifted up his foreleg to scratch his head and became very shocked and surprised when it wasn't fingers that he felt touch him, but one, solid, hard thing. His eyes widened as he looked at his hoof and leg. There was no skin, no fingers, and no hand; just light chestnut brown fur. He looked around in panic and saw the six sleeping mares in a semi circle around him and another bed. His vision began to clear up, allowing him to recognize the mane six as the ponies he'd seen before. Who was is the other bed though? “GAVIN!” He leapt from his bed and onto Gavin's causing the stallion to jump up and shout. "CHRIST!" he shouted causing the other ponies to wake up suddenly. "Gavin, Gavin?" yelled Dan. "What Dan?" he replied before he realized that Dan was a stallion. Gavin tried to rub his eyes, resulting in him seeing the caramel colour fur coating his foreleg. He looked up to Dan and then he pieced it all together. He remembered Celestia lifting them in the air with magic just before they blacked out. Their eyes saddened as they looked at each other. Why did this have to happen to them? "WHERE ARE MY FINGERS?" screamed Gavin as load as he could. Suddenly, the lights flickered on as Pinkie pushed the switch. They kept their eyes locked on each other. "Gavin is that really you?" asked Dan. Gavin nodded slowly. "How will we get home?" he added. "I don't know Dan. But we need to figure it out as soon as possible." Gavin replied. They both turned to face the mane six, a mix of desperation and panic on their faces. "Good morning sleepy heads!" exclaimed Pinkie happily as she jumped onto the bed and pulled them into a warm hug. "Pinkie! Get yer flank down 'ere before Ah get it 'ere fer ya!" shouted AJ. Pinkie smiled sheepishly and backed down, back into line with the others. "Sorry" she said quietly. AJ shot her a smile to perk her up and then looked back to the stallions. Gav and Dan just sat there next to each other, only wanting to get back to England. "We need to get back. Now." said Gavin sternly. He then tried to stand up and fell on his face, not being used to his new body. Dan instinctively stood up and held out his hoof to help his friend, but he just fell on top of him. "Bloody hell Dan, you're really heavy!" yelled Gavin as Dan plopped on top of him. "Sorry Gav" said Dan sheepishly whilst hoisting himself onto his hind legs using the bed for support. Gavin soon did the same so they had some way of standing up. "If yer gonna stand like that, yer gonna have some problems." chuckled AJ. Gavin sighed and slowly lowered one of his forelegs onto the ground. Once he was stable he put his other hoof down and just stood up for a while. "I don't know if I can walk guys." he said with a frown. The mane 6 started laughing wildly at the sight of a grown stallion, who couldn't move. "At lease this isn't as bad as headlight fluid..." he added. Dan had also managed to lower himself onto all four hooves and stood next to Gavin with a blank look on his face. "Please can you help us?" he asked. This seemed snapped the girls out of their laughing fit, bringing them back down to the problem: How to get them back to their world. Twilight trotted up to them and took a hoof from each of them. "What are you doing?" asked Gav. "Teaching you to walk. You'll probably need to, if we're going to find a way to get you out of here and then back home." Twilight replied confidently. She was ok; now she had a plan. First they'd teach Gavin and Dan how to walk, and then find them a place to stay, next get everyone together to think of a way to get them out, and then do it. Simple as pie. She smiled warmly and stepped backwards, pulling the two stallions forward. "Stop! I'm gonna fall!" yelled Dan, leaning back and putting his free hoof forward. "There you go! Just keep stepping, put some pressure on me if you need to steady yourselves." Gavin and Dan looked at each other briefly before shrugging and deciding to do as Twilight suggested. They went very slowly, and wobbled around for the first few steps but eventually got the hang of walking. "Now try for yourselves." said Twilight with a smile as she slowly placed Dan and Gavin's hooves on the ground. Dan was first to take a shaky step towards the girls, shortly followed by Dan. "I did it!" yelled Dan. "Me too!" added Gavin. Soon enough everypony had joined in. They were cheering Gavin and Dan on, treating it as a race. The pair just let go and had some fun with the girls. They allowed themselves to forget where they were and who they were with. As they continued the race, Twilight trotted over to Spike, "Spike, take a letter" "No problem Twilight" he replied. "Dear Princess Celestia, Dan and Gavin have woken up. They seemed shocked at first, but are now calm and are learning how to walk. We'll come and see you up in Canterlot tomorrow to discuss what to do with them and how to get them home. Being the elements of harmony we must help them, and they seem pretty nice anyway. Your faithful student, Twilight Sparkle." Spike then rolled up the letter, blew his magical green flame over it and watched as it disappeared. Twilight looked back over to her friends laughing and having fun with the new stallions and smiled to herself. Maybe this wasn't such a bad thing after all...
