//------------------------------// // Chapter 1: The Meet-up // Story: The Great Mishap // by aer307 //------------------------------// I'm used to how it seems like nobody understands me. I am not the same as anyone else at my school. At times, it seems like I do fit in, but in my heart, I know that they do not understand me or my outlook on life. Though, my whole world was rocked by some strange feat that brought them here, to my universe and into my life. "Come on Andrew! You're going to be late for school!" my mom yelled at me. "Your breakfast is getting cold." Well...time to get up I guess... I thought to myself. I pushed the covers of and got up. Breakfast was the usual waffles and a glass of milk. I got dressed in my green cargo pants and a tan t-shirt. Went to the bathroom to comb my short dirty blonde hair. I kinda wish I still had my long hair... but no time for that now, I'm late! I think as I look at my watch. I quickly put on my shoes and ran out the door, almost forgetting my backpack in the rush. I quickly start my car and rocket down my driveway. I look down at my watch again, and seeing what time it is, I pressed on the gas pedal harder. Crap, only have 15 minutes to drive across town, find a parking spot, and make it to my class. I think to myself. And just as I thought, I am late for my class as I slip into my seat next to my fiends, David and Bowen. "Over slept again?" Bowen whispered to me. "Yeah... one of these days, I will get over this." I remarked. "Don't count on it dude." David said, looking at me, smiling. Hitting him a little I say, "Thanks for the encouragement David." Now, having being settled, I pull out my AP Chemistry notebook and pull out my "homework" from last night. David, looking over my shoulder, asked, "Is that really all you did last night Andrew? You should really be trying to bring that grade up." "I know I should but I was busy reading some of my favorite fan fictions." I replied back. "And you're still reading those? I thought you said that you were giving them up!" Bowen asked, nudging me. "I did, but at the same time I didn't.... does that make any sense at all?" I asked, first looking at David and then Bowen. "Will you guys be quiet about that stuff please? Some of us are trying to do well." Abs, another one of my friends, asked from in front of me. "Sorry about that Abs. I forgot that you don't like us talking about that stuff near you." I apologized, a little smirk crossing my face. Once we were quiet, the teacher started her lecture on what we were learning, just to be stopped by the principle walking in. "Mrs. Krosby, we have a new student joining your class today. Her name is Rachel Dalke." As the new student walked in, I could not help but notice that her hair looked rainbow colored. She looks like she could be a fan of Rainbow Dash with that hair color and style. I think to myself before being pulled back into reality as the teacher called my name. "OK, Mr. Weathers, we were just starting a new chapter today, so she hasn't missed anything so far." Mrs. Krosby said. "There is a seat behind Andrew." I indicate who that is by waving my hand. "I hope he doesn't bother you too much." the teacher told Rachel. As she made her way over to the desk behind me, I turn to Bowen and said, "She looks like she could be a fan of Rainbow Dash from the TV show, My Little Pony." "You really need to get that out of your head man, its not healthy." Bowen said as Rachel made her way over to them. She looked at me and asked, "You're Andrew correct?" "Yes, that is my name." I replied back. "So where did you move from, Rachel?" I asked as she took her seat behind me. "Out of country," she replied briskly. "Oh, OK," I said turning back around in my seat.
