Chapter 1: The death and the new home

It was early in the morning when the cries of a newborn filly rang clear without the town. “Momma? What was that?” a young filly with a rainbow mane called out into the empty room. When no answer came she slowly climbed out of bed, her tired legs giving out from underneath her causing the tiny filly to face plant in the fluffy, soft cumulus cloud that made the bottom of her 3 story house. Quickly she got up and looked around to make sure no one had seen her be so un-awesome. As quickly and as quietly as she could she rushed the few feet from the door and slowly opened, the light wood gliding over the cloud-home.

She winced as the light from the sun pierced her eyes. Groggily, she walked out into the living room. It was finely furnished with several Cirro-cumulus chairs and Stratus desks. The Cyan filly walked into the room, her eyes still half closed. “Momma?” She called again in her tom-boyish voice, still squeaky from her youth. The filly walked past the several Alto-stratus rooms, their fluffy appearance was quite deceiving, as they were quite rough and uncomfortable, which was why they made great walls for a cloud home.

The filly finally stopped in front of a large room, the door was open a crack and she peaked in, the sight she saw made her gasp. “HUH! Momma? Is that her?!” She asked, her tiny voice full of excitement, but it quickly drained of that particular feeling and was filled with confusion when she saw her father crying. Her mother’s light orange body and her red, orange, and yellow mane lay around her, still, unnatural still. “Daddy, why is mom laying like that? Is she asleep?” she asked her voice full of curiosity and a bit of fear. “SHUT UP! Y-You stupid filly! It’s you and your sister’s fault she’s gone! J-just GO!” he said clearly drunk and upset “Gone, What do you mean by gone?!” She asked her terror quickly rising “SHE’S DEAD!” he yelled, the filly stood dumbstruck for a moment then quickly her eyes welled up with tears

She held no more regard for if she was awesome or not, she merely cried, running to the bed and grabbing the small filly that was less than half her size, she did what her father wanted, she left. Running out the door she took one last look upon her dark blue father and his green, blue, and purple mane. Then ran out of the house altogether, and into the early morning roads of Clouds-dale they lived on the outskirts of town and were far away from the next houses on the street. The young Pegasus filly rand down the street, her tiny sister bouncing on her back.

“Rainbow Dash!” she heard her father yell from behind her, but she kept running, blinded by her tears she ran until she could run no more, somehow managing to dodge the occasional pony on the road. When she stopped, she found herself in front of the Clouds-dale Orphanage. She stood there for a moment, then walked to one of the windows, as she peered inside her sister started to laugh at the other ponies running and jumping inside, this made Rainbow Dash smile, at least she liked their new home.
