//------------------------------// // I love you // Story: I Miss You // by DaringDo-Productions //------------------------------// Princess Celestia, Princess of the Sun. The great ruler of Equestria, always so strong, so brave and wise. To anypony, anypony in Equestria, Princess Celestia was the definition of a perfect ruler and pony. But all of us make mistakes, and the Princess—however great—was no exception. Perhaps one of her weakest moments was one which her subjects saw as her greatest. The moment when she alone harnessed the powers of the elements of Harmony to banish her sister to the moon. And now, centuries later, she still regrets it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (Years after Luna's banishment) Princess Celestia sighed as she leafed through various letters from her subjects. There were letters of all kinds, letters on the Weather, letters on the Wonderbolt's new performance schedule, and most importantly, letters from her beloved student—Twilight Sparkle. Many ponies believed that the only reason why Celestia chose Twilight as her student was because Twilight was exceptionally talented in magic, and had a bright future ahead of her. However, another reason was because of Luna. Celestia saw something in Twilight on that day she chose Twilight as her student. Luna. The little purple filly had something special inside of her, something so rare, that Celestia had only seen inside of Luna. Even the Princess didn't know what it was, but it was just too special to let go. Princess Celestia felt like she needed Twilight in her life, just like she needed Luna. For one thousand years, the one thousand years of Luna's punishment, Celestia had never felt so...alone or so... sad. Ever since she banished Luna to the moon, Princess Celestia....changed. Subtle changes, but changes nevertheless. Like during ceremonies—the ones which used to be celebrated with Luna—her eyes, usually sparkling and full of life and joy upon seeing her subjects, was now filled with a strange emptiness. The reason was simple, it was because of Luna. It always was. In every subject, all she could see was how they were so happy, with full, complete families. And it hurt her. Not to see her subjects happy, but to see herself so alone, so depressed. Why? Why me? she constantly questioned herself. Why do I have to go through this pain and loneliness. Sure, her subjects respected her so much more, for protecting them from 'the evil known as Nightmare Moon', but maybe....maybe it was all a mistake? Princess Celestia almost snapped at the loss of Luna too, and the only thing that kept her sane was Twilight. Her sweet, cheerful, student Twilight. All Princess Celestia could hope for was that Twilight Sparkle would learn never to make the same mistakes that she did. She snapped out of her thoughts and glanced through the letter sent by Twilight. "Dear Princess Celestia," it read, "Today I read a book recommended by the author of The Great Adventures of Daring Do and the Harry Trotter book series, and I thought that I might share the lesson I learnt from it, with you. It's a book on friendship, love and...family. Mainly family. The book tells us how important family is to us, and how we should always keep our loved ones close. Because in the end, they're all that matters. No matter how bad times may seem, they will be there. For you, always. Supporting you. Because they love you. And that's all that counts. Your faithful student, Twilight Sparkle." Princess Celestia stared at the message by her student, as tears prickled her eyes, her mind thinking of Luna immediately. I'm so, so, sorry, Luna she thought. In the spur of the moment, she rushed to grab a quill, ink and some paper, and began to write a letter, scribbling furiously. "Dear sister, I'm so, so, sorry. For everything I did. For what I did to you, especially. I don't know if what I did was right or wrong, I was just thinking about what was best for my subjects. That's what a 'prim, proper, and regal princess' is supposed to do, right? Always have subjects as your top priority. But tonight, one of my students taught me something. That family is the true one that counts. No matter what happens, we're still family. The past centuries have been hard, Luna. I've never felt so alone. The years... Years of loneliness, Years of sadness, Years of torture, Every second spent missing you, Yearning for you, And wishing that you were here. With me. Then maybe this loneliness and depression could all end. All I have now is Twilight Sparkle, and the need to protect Equestria. Twilight Sparkle. She's so much like you, Luna. The same personality, the same silliness I loved so much about you. Every time I look at her, I'm just reminded of you, and it hurts me. I miss you, my little sister. Please, come back to me. Because I love you. No matter what happens, I will always love you. Always have, always will. Because that's what family is about. Love, Celestia." Princess Celestia sighed once more as she placed down the quill, looking at both letters. She felt tears trickle down, never feeling this weak and vulnerable before, but she didn't care. What she wanted—needed—the most, was out of her reach. I love you, Luna. I'm....sorry. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ However, Princess Celestia never sent that letter, because as it seems, that night was going to be the one where a certain Mare on the Moon returned to a small town in the middle of Equestria —a town by the name of Ponyville. And maybe, somehow, by the fates, the two sisters could return together, to what they used to be. Two sisters, ruling with the powers of the sun and the moon, to bring harmony to Equestria. Two sisters, who put their differences behind them, to love each other as sisters do. To face any troubles they might encounter, together. Together as a duo; together working harmoniously. Because they loved each other. And that was what family is all about.
