//------------------------------// // Aevum // Story: All these years // by Blacklaw //------------------------------// 999 After N.M. There where is no air to breathe... ...to carry our voices, to speak our minds, to converse our feelings... Nopony knows what lies behind the moon, even the princess of the sun, amongst the craters created by the never-ending battle between the moon and the infinite army of meteors, between the great hills and slopes born from unending bombing of stone, behind the highest mountain, no-one, except the two lone figures, lying on the throne of stone and dust, resting at the borderline where the dark and light collide, looking over the sight of once again rising blue and green orb. The scene of serenity was unchanging, no movement capable of disturbing it, in this silent scenery a second lasts an eternity, but today it would end, at least for one, the scene ended as the serenity broke, the longer figure opening it's eyes raising them to glance at the rising earth, taking time to savor the scene that was the only joy that this empty place offered, he attempted to sigh, an impossibility to achieve without air to breath or exhale. Moving his eyes to the small creature in his arms, the magnificent blue coat brushing against his jacket, the long mane flowing down his legs, amongst the darker blue strands, a horn, same color as her coat, feathery wings folded to the sides, symbol of crescent moon on her rear, he raised his hand to brush the long mane, moving it through the silky lines, a small smile rising to his lips, the action stirring the equine from it's slumber, the cyan eyes slowly opening, raising her head and connecting their gazes, returning the smile. After a moment that lasted forever, the tall figure raised it's gaze towards the planet now completely covering the horizon, he could tell that the mare shifted it's eyes towards the sight he was admiring, sudden movement made him shift his eyes, the mare was looking at him again, but now her eyes no longer held the happiness they used to glimmer, now filled with despair and sorrow. Not capable of asking what was wrong, neither having the need to, it was time, the last day, the last hour, she moved her mouth, trying to convey the words of anguish, no voice came, but that was not needed he smiled gently at the sad mare, scratching her behind the ear, the gesture did not change the look on her face, eyes trembling but incapable of shedding tears she wrapped her hooves around him, not wanting to go, he closed his eyes, recalling the times passed, the long walks around the endless expanse, the voiceless conversations that lasted days, the taste of adventure when exploring the dark side of the moon, the long nights spend laying next to each other, the times when she cried for the things lost, in other times crying out of regret, despair, sorrow, anger and self-hatred. Slowly opening his eyes to the faint glow surrounding the mare, who was trembling at the sight of her hooves fading, she looked up to him, their eyes meeting, for one last time, he smiled to the slowly fading figure and brushing a strand of hair away from her eyes, giving a small nod, telling everything she had already known, she raised her head to his face, connecting their lips, for a short moment the eternity returned, the serenity was restored and the moment lasted forever. A blink later, she was gone... 1002 After R.L. How long has it been I wonder... It only felt like yesterday when I found fer... But now, it feels like an eternity... ...when she left. I find myself looking at the planet once again, it seems to be the only thing that stays the same, not changing, just moving through the endless sea of stars, glimmering in the void. But now I have noticed it no longer is the planet that I look, but the unseen mare that came from there and after an aeon, returned, she is there, somewhere, one might think it would be impossible to find her amongst everything that exists down there, compared to this lone place, but I don't worry, she knows that I am up here, she doesn't have to search for me anywhere, so she will remain where she is, we don't need to search each other across the world, we each other we are alone, she there and I here. I close my eyes again as I sit to the throne of stone and dust, and recall the feeling of her mane on my hands, and her lips on mine. I open my eyes again to continue watching the beautiful orb, but something steals my eyes, the same glow that surrounded her that day, a glowing well, hovering slightly above the ground right in front of the throne and me, I take few steps forward, I can feel it, her power, her presence, my choice was done before I understood the meaning, I turned to look at the throne crafted from rock, the place where I have rested longer than time can remember, turning back I begin to walk, the portal moving closer with every step that I take, I lift my hand towards the whirlpool, it grabs my hand and pulls me in deeper and deeper, until the sea of stars fades, at the last moment, at the end of my eternity, I finally know peace. I fall upon a plain of green, I can hear voices but they are muffled by the time of never-ending silence, I start to lift myself up from the ground, finding it hard, sudden movement stops me as I notice the dark blue hooves in front of me, I slowly look up already knowing what I will see, it's her. She wraps her hooves around me, like she did long ago, I return the hug as she whispers the words in my ear, with her soft voice that I waited a millennia to hear. "I missed you."
