Ponies hurried away into their homes as Princess Luna brought the moon up to the sky to start another beautiful night. Even though this was Ponyville, the safest place in Equestria, Ponies still knew better than to stay outdoors after dark. There was a rumor that there was shadow in Ponyville that was destroying everything that bought danger to ponies; an assassin.
Twilight tried to assure everypony that there were no such things as assassins. Nopony would ever be so cruel to take another ponies life, as long as she and the elements of harmony are alive then they would make sure that there but be no such thing. So it would make sense that only Twilight was brave enough to be happily trotting down the street as if she was enjoying Celestia’s golden sun, but no, she we staring at the moon thinking about how beautiful Luna makes it.
Twilight had just finished star gazing and finding out how there were there places and planets out there. She turned into an alley way that directs her straight down to her Library. She felt a small amount of fear tug at her as she entered the dark alleyway. She shook her head at her silliness; nopony has ever killed another pony in Ponyville maybe in some of the big place like Manehattan but not in Ponyville she thought to herself as she continued to trot further down into the alleyway.
If only she could see she dark figure of a pony follow her every move whilst silently moving across the rooftops.
Twilight slowed down to a walk, relaxing as she saw her Library at the end of the alleyway. Silently the pony that was following her every move landed behind her and before Twilight could make another move the pony grabbed her and pinned her against the wall.
The dark figure covered Twilight’s mouth as she was about to scream. Fear was etched into Twilight’s eyes, she could see that the pony was wearing a black hood to hide her face; underneath it Twilight could just see a small grin.
“Wh-who are y-you?” She chocked as her attacker moved her hoof from her mouth to her throat, wanting to know who was the Pony who was about to end her life,
“The future of Equestria,” Said the Pony in black before taking out a blade and quickly slicing Twilight neck.
Twilight felt herself fall to the ground she could see the dark figure quickly jump up the roof of the next building and disappear. Twilight felt the life slowly drain out of her as her blood spilled out onto the cobbled alleyway. All the friends and family that she will never see again, all the memories that will never happen, all the lessons that she could have learnt with her beloved teacher.
Twilight coughed and somehow managed to say her last few words.
“My dearest friends forgive me.”
If only she knew that one of her dearest friends had been standing on the building that towered above her watching the whole event unfold with tears silently streaming down her face. Rainbow Dash jumped off the building and glided down to Twilight. She held the purple unicorn in her arms as her tears dropped on to the purple pony.
“Come on Twilight wake up! Please Twilight don’t die on me! You can make it through this! You need to make it through this! For Pinkie, Fluttershy, Rarity, AJ for Spike! What’s he going to do without you? He needs you! We all need you! Twilight…” Rainbow told her friend, her tears dropping onto the purple unicorn,
Rainbow stopped shouting and continued to cradle one of her best friends in her hooves crying silently. Her heart jumped as she heard hooves and voices coming her way.
“Oh no, they can’t see me, not like this,” She said looking at her white robes which were being held together by her belt which had the Creed’s symbol in silver on top of it.
Rainbow flinched at the sight of Twilight’s blood on her outfit but she would have to worry about that later as a group of ponies were still headed her way. Looking down at Twilight sadly Rainbow took off into the sky just to gracefully land of the same rooftop that overlooked the alleyway.
Suddenly a faint glow was reaching into the alleyway.
“I think I heard shouting from over there! Twilight?! Twilight?! Twilight where are you?! “ Spike shouted his voice cracking as he tried to hold back tears,
Rainbow continued to look down into the alley somehow holding her screams of anger and sadness.
Spike turned into the alley followed by most of the population of Ponyville.
“Twilight? Are you around her-TWILIGHT! OH CELESTIA! EVERYPONY OVER HERE!” Spike shouted at the top if his voice as the baby dragon ran over to Twilight,
Suddenly you could hear the sounds of a large group of ponies galloping into the alley.
Sound of gasps could be heard within the crowd and four ponies ran over to Spike.
“Twi? Twi? Sugarcube? Are you okay? Come on Twi, please…” Applejack begged,
“Twilight darling please don’t be- Applejack she isn't, please oh Celestia tell me she isn't…” Rarity said as she tried to hold tears back,
“Guys?! Guys?! Whats going on we can’t see!” Asked Pinkie Pie frantically,
“It’s Twi…She’s…She’s…” Applejack began to say but couldn't bring herself to finish,
Rainbow couldn't hear anything else after that, only the soft cry from Fluttershy could be heard as Rainbow silently flew away rubbing the tears out of her eyes.
She couldn't be seen like this, she needed to look strong by what she was about to do now.
She was going to find out who killed her Twilight. No more secrets, no more hiding the truth away from her.
‘At the start of the week I was told to watch Twilight, follow her every move and report back any suspicious activity. I laughed it off, just something for my training. Why would Twilight be doing anything ‘suspicious’?! But now I realise it wasn’t against her, it was for her protection. Now it’s time to find out why they didn’t tell me what was really going on and who had just murdered my best friend in front of my eyes.’
