Sad Eyes

Belle clung to the moonlight saddlebag, shivering in the high winds. Her tears were blown away before they could so much as form along her golden complexion.

Shivering, she glanced up from where she sat between two burly enforcers atop a large transport glider. The morning sun had long risen, casting deceitfully bright rays upon the landscape as her lonely breaths filtered from her mouth.

She struggled against the thought at first, but nevertheless she looked to her left.

Phoenix was already sharing her gaze. A similarly woesome breath left him, and he hid his mustached face in a pair of bound forelimbs as his craft and several other gliders veered to the left, heading northwest.

Belle blinked and glanced melancholically forward. Beyond rolling forests and grass plains, the gray haze of an emormous city—Blue Nova—lingered to the northeast. The squadron of Ledomaritan gliders were carrying her away from it, though, and onwards into the wilderness.

Into empty oblivion.

She was too tired to sob anymore. She leaned against the back of the captor ahead of her, closed her eyes, and dreamed of somepony's ghostly face. She filled the spaces in between the stripes with lonesome memories, the first of a lifetime's worth.

Like phantoms, the gliders carried the two fugitives into the north, disappearing amidst the broad lengths of the world.
