I was standing on a high cliff overlooking the ocean with the sun setting, I looked over the edge, after that i looked back at the forest behind me, started to walk towards the forest, then turned and ran off the edge of the cliff.
As i start to fall towards the vast ocean, time seems to slow, as silence and air whooshing passed my ears. closer and closer i come to the surface of water, My wings open just in time for me to glide over and touch the water...
as I glide just above the salty sea, i have an idea. I start to fly up to the clouds to look for a good point to start. i find a very high clouds a a little ways out from the cliff. It's definitely higher than the cliff, but harder to get speed from. I sit there,,, on this cloud and just lose my self in thought
I don't know how much time has past as I've sat here, lost in deep thoughts, but I remembered my idea and why i came up here in the first place. I stand up and getting ready to jump, but i see something off in the distance."that's strange..." I say to my self as I just ignore it for now, I resume and jump into the air and test how high i can fly. as I fly up, I start to get tired. my wings are starting to slow down slightly, but i just ignore them, and fly higher. I notice how cold it actually is up here, i stop for a second and just hover.
I look around to check out if anything new has come to this isolated island, but as usual nothing has, in fact nothing is around but water and trees, so I resume my ascent, going higher, as i go up i look down to see how much time i will have to react if i black out, or my wings give out.
It's a long ways down the water and the sun is all most fully down. An eagle, that i didn't notice, screeched, scaring the crap out of me, making me and my wing skip a beat, falling a couple of feet. Catching myself i scowl at it as the eagle made a sound that almost mimicked laughing. I ignore and keep going. My wings are slowly started to give out, but I wanted to keep going to beat my previous record. I just needed little more height, but it was freezing up here, no wonder I don't have much more energy. I push my self, but my wings went just gave up and retracted and i started to plummet down to the ground.
As i fall i try to put my self in to a more controlled dive. It takes a couple of tries, but I get myself into a nose dive position, going though a couple clouds on the way down, and drop faster toward the water. I open my wings, a massive amount of pain shoots through my back as my wings struggle to not fold back behind me. I retract my wings and reposition myself, for a softer curve, just barely touching the water. While flying over the water I leave a down-wash of water behind me from the amount of speed and sheer closeness, but It take almost no effort to fly this close the water. I'll try again later... i thought to my self.
As I land on the same Cliff I jumped from, I can feel an strong electric field, which is unusual because we lost power couple years back. I walk toward the pathway back to our home, funny enough is that in this jungle is a high-tech lab/house that was abandoned not long after it started to over produce chemically-grown food. Me and my sister, Rose, both live here. The eerie silence of the forest is weird because I can usually hear birds singing their songs. *snap*
"Rose?" i said wearily. not sure because there is only me, my sister and a lot of birds on this island.
