//------------------------------// // Part 32 // Story: Linkin Pony- Recharge // by Kaciekk //------------------------------// Buzzing came from the computer. EchoBeat opened some programs, and SpinningNote plugged in many cords. He watched the screen as it changed. Echo glanced at him and nodded. He took off his glasses, and took goggles off the table and slipped them over his head. SpinningNote passed over towards a generator, where the cords were connected. CharmingRhythm stood uncomfortably. How would this work? Did he really need to be charged up? That seemed preposterous. “Sit down.” Spinning said. “Um…uh” Rhythm stuttered. “Sit down dude!” SpinningNote snapped. Rhythm sat down in the corner, and placed his metal leg out. The orb seemed glowed normally. Rhythm guessed the glow was lower. It was probably from doing so much work. HeartFelt watched them all, uncertainty was in her eyes. She did not know how thing worked around here. But she knew that they had to be skilled with what they were doing. Indigo magic hovered a wire. SpinningNote studied Rhythm's leg. The wire snapped in under it. Another wire clamped onto the edge of the hoof. CharmingRhythm wondered about them. "This won't hurt... right?" He said slowly. "Let's hope not." Spinning exclaimed. Rhythm's worried eyes followed the purple unicorn. He placed the wire from the generator to the computer. How would the computer do any affect? A blue glow light up onto the walls. EchoBeat tapped on the keys. "I got connection with the mill, and I am transferring energy." He announced. "I didn't know you could do that." BlazingFlair said out of nowhere. "Well, duh." SpinningNote mocked. "As long as there is no interruption to the transfer, we will be fine." Echo said. "And If there is a interruption...?" CharmingRhythm spoke. Spinning flipped his head around. "Then we're fucked." "What-?!" Rhythm gagged. "He's joking." Blazing said. "Don't you know he jokes a lot." "Yeah..... heh.." Rhythm looked at the ground. "Hit that button, Blaze." EchoBeat pointed over to the left. BlazingFlair went over and saw a blue button on the edge of the desk. He clapped his gold hoof on it. "It's gonna take a while for the transfer to be complete." Echo said. The energy flowed through all the wires, Rhythm could feel a surge going through his metal leg. Then the blue orb grew brighter. "Can you feel that?" HeartFelt asked, and Rhythm nodded. "You never told me how you lost your leg." "It's...it's complicated." "I know how Hyper lost his wing, I saw a hybrid rip it off his back." She looked over to Hyper who stood to the side. He looked over at his wing and opened it. "You saw that?" HeartFelt nodded with sorrow. "Hmm...Rhythm, you can tell me. Was it hybrids also?" CharmingRhythm sighed. "I guess it was half fault of hybrids. It was when we first found the base. It was just an abandoned building, and we put our supplies in it. We found under the ground, a cave, and energy spots were everywhere. We decided that was where we could put a mill. But of course, hybrids found us. We got into a fight. The hybrids were pushing me, and I should of been more careful. I fell into a energy spot, and since there was nothing built around it, it was dangerous. The energy pretty much designated my leg." HeartFelt was horrified by his story. Now nopony spoke, the buzzing of the technology filled every ear. "That's why you have to gather it right." SpinningNote finally said. "You have to contain energy, If it is exposed to the open, you can get hurt." "But Hybrids die from it no matter what." BlazingFlair added. Time past with no speaking again. HyperBlitz brought himself up off the wall. He looked at the computer where EchoBeat managed the transfer. All the numbers and symbols on the screen were confusing. HeartFelt still gazed at Rhythm's leg, and watch the blue orb flicker with the sound of the buzzing. He looked up at her, their eyes met. SpinningNote turned around, impatiently. "Echo, do you think you can make it go any faster?" EchoBeat mumbled. "I...I don't know.... It might not be that safe." He twisted his head slowly. "But this is taking forever! And I'm sure you can make it safe!" Spinning snapped. "Erm..." Echo placed his head down low by the desk. His eyes looked through the goggles, his red hoof started to tap again. Suddenly, EchoBeat jumped up as his hoof slipped. A sound shot through the air, like screeching. Echo flipped around without saying anything. They all looked at CharmingRhythm. A sudden flash came from the wires and his leg. All the lights in the room flickered, Rhythm's eyes shrunk as a surge was shot through his whole body. Then it all went back to normal, by Rhythm laid on the ground weak, it was hard for him to get up. EchoBeat quickly jumped over to him, and the other circled around. "Fuck.... that hurt like hell." Rhythm said. "I am so sorry Rhythm, I didn't mean to." EchoBeat told him with guilt, and took off his goggles. "No.." The unicorn got up, and shook his head. "I think that's what I needed." His eyes shot up, with a bright face. He rubbed his hoof on his face, then looked at the wires. He unplugged them with his teeth. "I actually feel a lot better!" HyperBltiz smirked. "Maybe you should fix your mane." He looked at his mane, that stood up in spikes. Rhythm looked up at his hair, and laughed.
