//------------------------------// // Court in Session. // Story: The Separation of Mother and Daughter. // by SolidFerret //------------------------------// "Order. Order!" The judge yelled as she slammed the mallet down. Rainbow Dash sat at her seat at the front of the rows. She wasn't nervous at all. This pony broke into her home and took her child. There was no need for a lawyer. But that didn't stop her heart from raising at the sight of her daughter stepping out with her father. He was a mess. An uncleaned mane, a dirty coat, he smelled of alcohol that Rainbow could smell from here. Scootaloo looked around and saw Dash sitting there. She couldn't contain herself as she ran to her. "Mommy!" She yelled as she ran. Only to be contained by a guard. Rainbow could tell why she was so excited. Living with a pony like her father is probably a nightmare. This pony wasn't fit to raise Scootaloo. Dash leaned back in her chair. She thought she had this one 'in the bag.' "Court is now in session." The judge called. "We have Rainbow Dash vs.-'' Rainbow dash ignored the rest. She couldn't believe she was dragged into court in the first place. Clearly the guards she called after this colt were stupid. But Dash could see it now. After freeing her daughter from the mess of a colt that was her real father, she would be named a hero. A crowd of ponies waiting for her outside the court room. All of them chanting her name. "Rainbow Dash! Rainbow Dash! Rainbow Dash!" "Rainbow Dash!" The judge snapped. Rainbow Dash shook herself from her day dream and turned towards the judge. "Yes?" "Considering the fact that you don't even have a lawyer, you may not want to drift off." The judge said harshly. Rainbow knew that it wouldn't be good if you were on the bad side of the judge. But Dash thought that maybe the judge was just being a grouch. "So for the first speech, I'll leave it to the jury." The judge turned to the jury stand. "We'd like for Rainbow Dash to present her case." The jury obviously chose her since there was no lawyer. "With pleasure." Rainbow said as she rose to address the audience. "Fillies and gentlecolts of the jury, is it wrong to ask why we are even here. This colt broke into my very home and took my daughter away from me." "Objection. She's actually my daughter." Scootaloos father said. "But the point being is that you gave up your child and I took it into my care." "Objection. The mother gave her up. I never did so I still have the rights to call her my child." "But years of raising, she learned to call me mom. But suddenly, you burst into my own home, hurt one of my friends, and take my 'adoptive' daughter out by force." Dash made a good point with that statement. The crowd began to murmur amongst themselves. "Order. Order." The judge said with the smack of the mallet. The crowd quieted down. "So lets here the defendants side of things." She leaned her head over in Scootaloos fathers' direction. "Thank you your honor." He said as he stood up to the crowd. "Fillies and gentlecolt of the court room, I love my daughter. The hurt I had when I found out that she was taken away from me by my wife was dreadful. I ask you to please-" Rainbow Dash had once again drifted off. If there was one thing he could tell about this colt, is that he was lying through is own teeth. Rainbow snickered at the thought that it was through the large gap in them. "When I heard where my daughter was, I went looking for her. When I got to the house where she was staying at, I was met with force by a pony that wasn't even the mare that claims to be the mother. In fact, she may have had a mental disability." "OBJECTION! That mare has more brains then you ever will!" Dash yelled. The crowd gasped. Whether if it was for Rainbows outburst or the fathers comment was unknown. "Well can you at least tell me where you were?" He asked with a raised eyebrow. "It was my first day as a Wonderbolt." She stated. "Is this true?" The judge asked. "Yes it is." A small voice spoke. Dash thanked her lucky stars for Scootaloo, who had spoken for her. "Well I believe that we have enough evidence. Jury, I'll leave the rest for the jury." She nodded in their direction. Without saying a word, they got up and went through the door to a secluded room. An eternity of waiting had fallen on Rainbow Dash. Time seemed to have stopped just for her as she waited. Scootaloo waited for them to tell her that she can go back home with her real mother. She may not have given birth to her but she raised like she had laid her from an egg. Rainbows ears perked at the sound of the door. The jury had stepped out. "Jury please state your verdict." "We find the defendant innocent of charges for kidnap and assault." They said. "Good, case closed." The sound of the mallet smacking struck more then a nerve in Dash. The crowd began to speak, questioning the verdict. "No. No it can't be. It can't be." Rainbow Dash thought out loud. "MOMMY!" Scootaloo wailed as she bolted from her seat and to her mother. Rainbow Dash jumped to the ground and opened her hooves to welcome her daughter. But was pulled back by a guard. The same happening for Scootaloo. "No! Let me go!" She yelled as they dragged her through the courtroom. "Mommy!" Scootaloo called as she was dragged pass the doors. Rainbow Dash was released and immediately tried to charge back into the court room. She was met with the doors closed on her. "No. Please no." She sobbed as she rested her head on the door. Tears fell down and from her cheeks. Her very daughter was gone. Taken away from her by some mad pony. She was back to being all alone. "Hey Rainbow Dash, how was-" Soarin and two other Wonderbolts, Spitfire, and Fleefoot rounded the corner. Soarin cut himself off at the sight of how miserable she was. His ears flattened to his head at the sight. He ran over and pulled her into a hug. Rainbow Dash hugged him back weakly. She was glad that at least somepony had sympathy for her. [A/N] I don't know much about court so don't blame me.
