//------------------------------// // Chapter 5: Scootaloo's New Parent // Story: Rainbow's New Life // by Rarityfan87 //------------------------------// “Hi Rarity…” Sweetie Belle said, realizing her sister was angry. “LOOK AT THE MESS YOU MADE SWEETIE!” “Oh sorry sis, but I had a good reason.” “And that reason would be?” “Because the one and only Rainbow Dash was playing with us!” Scootaloo interrupted. “Well that is no excuse to ruin my beautiful backyard. Now you two clean this up immediately!” “You can’t do that! I’m too adorable!” Sweetie argued. “Nice try, you’re still cleaning this up.” Rarity turned towards Spike. “Now let’s continue where we left off.” Rarity said sensually. Spike and Rarity made their way back into the Carousel Boutique. “Well let’s get this cleaned up, I just want to go home.” “Scootaloo can I ask you something?” “Sure Sweetie, what’s up?” “Where do you live? You’ve never talked about it or brought us over.” “Well Sweetie there’s a reason I didn’t…” A tear left Scootaloo’s eye. “What’s wrong Scootaloo?” “I live in an orphanage. That’s why I also never talk about my parents.” “Aw, that’s sad. But you know Apple Bloom and I will always be your friends no matter what!” Sweetie gave Scootaloo a friendly hug. “Thanks Sweetie, but let’s clean up quickly… before your sister yells at us again.” “I’d rather take my time, I’m sure she’s doing something gross with Spike, like kissing.” Sweetie stuck her tong out in disgust of the thought. “Ewwwwwwwwww.” Scootaloo replied. The two cleaned up. It took them about two hours, seeing as they made sure everything was one hundred and ten percent perfect. This was Rarity after all. “Finally we're done... up to Rarity's standards that is.” “Yes, now just to go back to those two… yeah…” “I’ll see you tomorrow Sweetie, in the clubhouse. Hopefully Rainbow will be there.” “Bye Scootaloo, see you then.” *The next day* Scootaloo made her way to the clubhouse. She walked in and saw Sweetie and Rainbow chatting. “I think this would be a better place to try this out Sweetie.” “You really think so Rainbow?” “Rainbow Dash you came!” Scootaloo interrupted. “Hey kiddo. Well I did have fun yesterday, and I did say I'd be here, and I am loyal after all, just ask my element of harmony.” “Well, what do you want to do today?” “I have the perfect plan!” Rainbow announced. “Great what is it?” “Follow me and I’ll show you.” The two followed Rainbow Dash to the back of Sugar Cube Corner, she made sure Pinkie’s window was closed. “Sugar Cube Corner? Why did you lead us here?” Scootaloo asked confused. “To prank Pinkie. Now I need you two to help me.” “That sounds like so much fun!” Sweetie squeaked. “Here’s the plan. Scootaloo, you and I will hold the hose and aim it at Pinkie’s window and make it look like it’s raining. Sweetie, I need you to go inside and ask if you can go talk to Pinkie in her room, and I want you tell her it’s raining outside and she has to cancel all her outside plans. Any questions?” “Alright, let’s do this!” Sweetie said, excited. “Alright let's get set up, and when it starts, go and tell Pinkie what I told you to.” “Alright.” Rainbow and Scootaloo stood on the ground and aimed the hose at the window. Sweetie turned on the water and made her way to Pinkie’s room, after asking the Cakes if it was okay. *Knock knock* “Who’s there? Oh is it a cake!” “Hey Pinkie, it’s Sweetie Belle, can I come in?” “Of course you silly billy!” Sweetie walked in. She saw Pinkie sitting on her bed, writing down some more ideas for what to put in her future cupcakes. “Hey Pinkie I have some bad news.” “I knew it! Someone stole all the sugar and we won’t be able to make any more cupcakes! Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy????????????” “No, that would be a tragedy. No, I walked by and noticed some rain clouds, I think it’s going to rain, and you’ll have to cancel your plans.” “Don’t be silly, it was sunny outside earlier.” “Well go check outside.” Pinkie walked up to her window, and saw it was indeed raining (or so she thought). “No! This can’t be! Wait! That means I could work on my cupcakes! YAY!” The two were interrupted by Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo entering the room, laughing. “We got you good Pinkie.” “That was you Dash?” “Yeah, all three of us planned this prank.” “Oh you got me good Dash! How about you stay for cupcakes? I’m about to make a new batch of experimental cupcakes!” “No thanks Pinkie, we’ve got to get going. We have more plans for today.” “Okie dokie lokie! See you guys another time.” “Bye Pinkie.” The three responded. The three made their way back to the treehouse. When they arrived, it was almost supper time. “That was great!” Scootaloo said excited. “It was wasn’t it?” Rainbow said proudly. “I wish I could hang out longer, but I need to get home.” Scootaloo said, a hint of sadness in her voice. “Hey kid, how about I walk you home tonight?” “Really!” Scootaloo couldn’t believe what she just heard. “Yeah, take it as a thank you for the fun you’ve given me.” “Alright!” Rainbow started to follow Scootaloo. “Bye Sweetie, I’ll see you tomorrow.” “Bye you two!” Sweetie squeaked. The two started to make their way to Scootaloo’s house. “So kid where do you live?” “I… I…” “What’s wrong kid?” “Well, I’m an orphan, I live at an orphanage.” “Oh… I’m sorry to hear that kid.” “Yeah. My parents abandoned me there, I was told they were young and they decided they couldn’t take care of me properly, and so they ended up giving me to this orphanage. Well that’s what the owner tells me. I’ve asked them if I could meet my parents, but they don’t have any way of contacting them.” “That’s too bad kid. Well, you’ll always me, Sweetie and Apple Bloom here to hang out with you.” “Thanks Rainbow, that means a lot.” They arrived at the orphanage. They both entered. “Well I better get to my room, and get ready for supper, thanks for walking me home Rainbow.” “No problem kid. I’ll see you tomorrow.” Scootaloo walked off towards her room, Rainbow on the other hand had plans of her own. She made her way to the receptionist. “Hello, could I please speak to the person in charge of this place?” “Well… he’s very busy lately.” “Please, it’s really important.” “Alright let me ask him.” The receptionist walked into an office behind the desk. A few minutes passed by, and she finally came back out. “Alright, he’s got ten minutes. You may go in.” “Thank you.” “My pleasure.” Rainbow made her way into the office. There was the owner of the orphanage. “Hello there how can I help you…?” “My name is Rainbow Dash. Pleased to meet you sir.” “Please call me David. Now how can I help you?” “I wanted to ask you a few questions about how Scootaloo ended up here.” “Ah yes Scootaloo. She’s a great kid, always excited, but can be a little trouble maker sometimes. What did you want to know?” “Well, I was hoping you could tell me how she got here, and tell me the name of her parents.” “Ah yes. It was late one night, years ago. I heard a knock at the door, as I was locking the doors for the night. We do that so no one accidentally wonders off outside. I opened the door and there were two Pegasi waiting at the door, with a baby in their hooves. *That night years ago* “Hello sir, we need your help. We can’t take care of this child, could you please give her a good home here?” “Well, I don’t know, there’s a lot of paper work, and she needs to be accepted…” “Please sir, we can’t just leave her out on the streets and we honestly can’t take care of her. We just don’t have the money.” “Well…” “Please sir, you can’t just let her suffer her on the streets. She needs a good home.” “Alright, but I need you to come in and answer a few questions.” “Thank you sir. This is great isn’t it John?” “Yes it is Caroline!” “Please follow me you two.” They entered and followed David. As they reached David’s office a caretaker walked by. “Excuse me.” “Yes sir?” “Could you please take this baby to a room? She’s going to be a new guest here.” “Of course sir.” The caretaker took the baby and continued down the hallway. “Alright, let’s get the questions done, and we’ll be on our way.” “Sounds good.” They entered the office. David took a seat behind the desk and the two took their respective seats. “Alright so I’m going to ask you these questions just so we have better knowledge of the baby and a way to contact you in case of an emergency.” “Alright, but keep our contact information private please. We don’t want our child to know about us.” “Alright. Now, what is the name of the child?” “Scootaloo.” “Do you have her birth documents?” “Yes, right here.” They handed the documents. “Alright, we’ll hold on to those. Now, how old is she?” “She’s four months.” “She’s a Pegasus. Now I need you to fill out your contact information.” He handed them the papers, and they started to fill out the info. *Back to the present* “After that they left and Scootaloo stayed with us.” “Wait. Did you say Caroline and John? Did one have a red mane and a white coat, and the other have a blue mane and a yellow coat?” “Why yes, how did you know?” “I know them from work, and I know how to contact them. But before I leave I have one more question…” *The next day* Rainbow Dash entered the treehouse, Sweetie Belle, Scootaloo and Apple Bloom were there, planning on what they should do next to get their cutie marks. “Hey guys.” “Hey Rainbow.” “Scootaloo I have a surprise for you.” “What is it!?” Scootaloo jumped from excitement. “Read this!” Rainbow wore a huge smile. “I, Rainbow Dash have accepted the responsibility and duty of adopting Scootaloo and promise to take care of her.” Scootaloo ran up to Rainbow Dash and hugged her, squeezing her. Tears were flowing down her cheeks. She was unable to speak. “You’re now my child kiddo. Surprise!” “Rainbow Dash, this is the best thing I could have! I love you ‘mom’!” “I’m not gonna lie, that felt kind of awkward.” “Congratulations Scootaloo!” The other two ran up and hugged her. “I’ve got more news as well.” “What can be better than this?” “I’ve set up a meeting with your parents. We’re going to meet them at Sugar Cube Corner in a few minutes, so we better make our way there.” Scootaloo stood there speechless. “I knew this would happen.” Rainbow placed Scootaloo on her back. “I’ll see you two later.” “Goodbye, and good luck talking to her parents.” “Thanks bye.” Rainbow made her way to Sugar Cube Corner. Scootaloo, came back from the shock of the news. “Rainbow?” “Yeah kid?” “Thank you! This is… the best thing that could happen. I can’t thank you enough Rainbow!” She hugged her back. “You’re welcome kid. I couldn’t just let you continue to live there. It seemed depressing. So I thought I should adopt you. You’ve grown on me kid, and I like you. I’ve never had the experience of what being a mom is, but I’m sure we’ll be fine.” “I don’t care about that. You’re my hero, just the fact we’ll be living together will be awesome!” “It will be kid. Well kid we’re here. Are you ready?” “Yes.” “I’ll be coming in with you, just to introduce you, then I’ll wait outside so you can have a private conversation with them.” “Thanks again Rainbow.” “You’re welcome kid.” They made their way inside. Scootaloo jumped off Rainbow’s back. She saw two Pegasi, waiting there. “Hey Scootaloo.” “Mom… Dad?” “Yes it’s us sweetheart.” Scootaloo ran up to them and hugged them as hard as possible. Tears flowing down her cheeks. “I’ve been wanting to meet you guys forever.” “You’re not mad at us?” “Of course not, all I care about is wanting to meet you guys.” “Well, I’m Caroline and this is John.” “Is it alright if I call you mom and dad?” “Of course.” “Well we have a lot to catch up on…” Scootaloo started from as early as she could remember. She was the happiest she’d ever been in her life. Her hero (Rainbow Dash) adopted her and she got to meet her parents. This was the perfect day! After what seemed like an eternity, it was time for her parents to leave. “I hate to say this Scootaloo, but we need to get back home.” “Oh… alright.” Scootaloo started to cry. “What’s wrong?” “I guess this is the only time I’ll see you guys.” “Don’t be silly kid. Rainbow Dash told us where you two will be living and she insisted we come over for visits.” “You promise to visit?” “We promise Scootaloo!” The two hugged her. “Well we’ll be seeing you soon. Goodbye for now.” “Goodbye mom… dad…” The three walked outside. Scootaloo walked up to Rainbow Dash, her parents flew towards Cloudsdale. “Rainbow Dash…” “Yes kiddo?” “You’re the best friend and parent somepony could ask for!” “Thanks kid, now let’s go home. We have a lot to prepare so you can move in.” “I’m right behind you mom!” “It still sounds strange.” Rainbow chuckled. The End.
