//------------------------------// // Chapter 1 // Story: Prank Night // by invaderyor //------------------------------// It was a still, silent, Twilight in Ponyville, the princess had just began to lower the sun to make room for her sister’s moon, but two ponies dared to disturb the subtle silence that covered the sleepy down. I grinned from our hiding spot, tucked under the bushes across from the tree-carve library; home to our egg-head unicorn friend. Oh this was going to be such a great night, like secret agent pranksters on the brawl! The Orange earth-pony next to me looked rather nervous; her hoofs scrapping across the ground and her eyes constantly peering over her shoulder as if she was expecting to jump out and grab us at any moment. Me? hell, I was pumped and ready to go! “I don’t know ‘bout this SugarCube; Seems like we’d get in a mess of trouble.” AppleJack whispered. “Oh come!” I turned back sharply towards her. I still couldn’t believe it took this much convincing to get here out here! “It’s just a little harmless fun. Me and Pinkie do this to her all the time.” “Well ahright if ya insist…” I gave her my best Grin, and turned back towards our target. “Okay, so here’s the plan; I’ll dash over and ring the door-bell, all I need you to do is make a run for the bushes and tap her from behind. Think you can keep up with me?” A smirk suddenly sprouted over Applejack’s face. “Ah have before haven’t ah?” and she readied herself to run; her fear of getting in ‘a mess of trouble’ lost in her blazing competitive spirit. I grin, turning back and readying myself as well. I always loved that competitive nature of hers…. Well, not loved as much as… well I do LOVE it about her, but not her in particular, not that I didn’t like her just well- Ugh! This was too confusing to think about! After shacking the thought form my mind, I raised my hunched back and gave the signal to AJ. I burst form the bushes like a bullet, the wind slashing around my mane as I bulls-eyed towards the doorbell, my trusty Earth-Pony right behind me. My wings broke out at the last moment, slowing my speed enough for me to hit the bell and I span dived into the bushes; perfect awesomeness. A moment later I heard the door open, and stuffed my hoof in my mouth to keep from laughing at twilight confused expression; she was just visible from my hiding spot in the bushes next to her. AJ tapped her shoulder and when she turned to look back, I tapped her other side. She span around and AJ pushed her toward me. the poor egg-head was either panicking or furious! I snickered, popping out of the bushes one last time and tapping her again. She jumped back and I grinned broadly in her face- a split second late, I dashed straight up into the air, fallowing Applejacks running foot-steps. The last I saw of twilight was her shacking her head on her way back inside. I got up with applejack outside of sugar-cube corner, finding her giggling into her hoof. “stop the presses! I’ve actually found Applejack GIGGLING!” I smirked, landing next to her. it’s true…. When Applejack laughed, she roared with laughter; seeing her making a sound as ‘cute’ and ‘demeanor’ (two words I normally despise) was a rare occurrence. “If ya tell anypony ill buck your hind end” she swallowed her giggle and smirked back at me “But that was pretty darn fun” “Told you!” I said with a triumphant punch to her shoulder. “You should listen to me more often; I bet I could even help with your apple bucking.” She shook her head, still smiling. “Listen sugar cube, if we need an expert on showin’ off an takin’ naps, well call ya’. Now hows about ya’ just show me the next house instead?” “oh, you are so on! Next house is Rarity’s, and last one there as to take the heat- Ready-Set-Go!” Zoom! Off I went, the wind rushing in my hair again as the world was quickly dissolved by the blur of my speed. And then the world was brought back to normal speed by a sudden sharp halt, and a tug on my mid section. Applejack’s lasso brought my crashing back to the ground, and she galloped right passed me at full speed. “hey! No fair!” **** We made our way back to Sweet Apple Archers about half an hour later, with a few stubborn bows left in my mane, despite my EXTENSIVE efforts to get them out. “next time you decide to do something like that, I’ll just drag you along behind me.” I really bucking hate ribbons, after spending twenty whole minutes of playing ‘dress up’ as rarity for punishment…. Ugh, I just wanted to take a long rainbow shower, I felt so dirty in a girly way. “well, if ya had just played fair ah wouldn’t have tah tie you up, now would I?” Somehow her word choose made me blush, and I shook my head clear again. “whatever.” I said half-assely, and we snuck back to her room. The rest of her family was out like a light, even granny smith was snoring loudly in that old rocking chair. Applejack quickly lead me upstairs and away from the family into her room. I walked into her little green cow-pony room, frowning at the window when the rain started to fall. “ah man! The weather ponies have already set up the down pour” I grumbled, grumbling as I hunched out the window, looking down at the thunderous down pour. It was waaaaaaay too dangerous to fly home in this weather. “hey AJ, you mind if I crash here tonight?” I turn back to look at applejack, already worming her way under the covers. She didn’t give an answer, just a half hearty wave of her hoof. Good enough for me. I slid into her bed, and a loud yawn escaped me. my head hit the pillow with a soft ‘pmft’ and that was it… I was out like a light. Wouldn’t it be great if it was that easy? But nope…. My stupid brain wouldn’t shut up. Sometimes I think my brain thinks that it’s an Egg Head itself, because it keeps…. Thinking. About stupid stuff like the weather I got to make tomorrow, what the Wonderbolts would do for their next show, how great Applejack smelled. Wait, what? I blinked, looking up at my own forehead wishing very much for it to elaborate on that last thought, but nothing happened. I frowned, and slowly turned over. Applejack lay very still under the covers, her chest moving gently up, and down, eyes closed. She was asleep… “Applejack smells nice?” was the last think I said I was pulled very subtly, into dreams.
