Chapter 45: A bumpy ride back

I sat there in shock with my mouth hanging wide open. I blinked a few times and ran those words through my head trying to figure out if she really just said that.

'....She really just said that.....' I thought as I blinked once.

I looked to my left and saw Fluttershy whose face was completely red and was not even blinking. I slowly turned back to my mother and looked at her. She smiled at me... I gave her the "Are you fucking kidding me" Stare.

She just shrugged and smiled more.

"Jeez it was just a question...." She said looking away. "Anyways... I know you need to be leaving soon... but i want you to bring something with you." She said smiling more.

She brought her fingers to her mouth and whistled. After a few seconds I heard nails clicking on the ground. I looked to the left just in time to see most loved thing I have ever had close to me other than Fluttershy and Scoots.

My dog tank. Yes... his name is tank.

He was a young black lab. I would tell you more about him but by that time he had jumped onto the couch and licking my face excitedly. I began chuckling a bit trying to get him off. When I finally managed to get him off I spent a minute to two wiping my face clean of all the drool.

'Blah!' I thought as I finished wiping my face.

I then looked to my left and noticed Shy petting Tank. She seemed happy again.

'Heh.... I bet RD will think I took the name or something...' I thought as my mind began to wander.

But before it could wander too much....

*Beep*

I looked down at my watch. Saw how much time I had left and saddened. I looked back up to my parents. My dad had gotten off his chair and was standing near the couch resting his hand on my mothers shoulder while she continued to sit. She was no longer smiling. Or crying. But she has that sad smile on you wear when something great happens and you know it means the end of something...

My mother stood up and placed her hand on my shoulder.

"Chris." She began.

I listened.

"No matter what happens. No matter what you decide to do... know that we will be proud of you no matter what. And just because you may not see us anymore. Doesn't mean we won't still be with each other." She said as a tear rolled down her cheek.

I stood up and hugged her. A moment later my dad and Fluttershy joined in. I felt a tug on my leg. I knelt down and picked up Scoots and we all gave one big hug. We sat there for who knows how long. Unti-

*Beep*

I looked at my watch.

'2 minutes...' I pulled away from my parents.

"Thanks guys.... it means a lot...." I said looking between my parents.

*Beep*

'1 minute 30 seconds'

"I know I will miss you both so much...." I paused....

They both smiled. Shy began flying beside me. Scoots ran beside me. I motioned for them to stay near. I looked back at my parents.

*Beep*

'45 Seconds'

I knelt down with Shy landing beside me. I looked up to my parents.

*Beep*

'35 Seconds'

My mother and father both smiled one last time.

"We will miss you too...." Said my mother. "We will lose one of our greatest treasures yes...."

*Beep*

'15 Seconds'

She sniffed a bit. "We will yes.... but at the same time....."

*Beep*

'8 Seconds'

"We have gained something in return of your short return...."

*Beeep......Beeeeeep.......Beeeeeeeeeep......*

'1 Second'

As a big flash of white light engulfed me and my one dog and two pony companions.... my mother's last word lingered in my mind.... it Echoed through my entire being. Like that very word means the difference between what I may become...
