//------------------------------// // Part 18 // Story: Linkin Pony- Recharge // by Kaciekk //------------------------------// BlazingFlair sat alone in the meeting room. He had his head low as he drank some coffee. There wasn't much to do, it was like that all the time. CharmingRhythm wanted to try to go out to the "city" sometime. It really wasn't a city, only a small suburb. But many ponies used the buildings as shelter. Rhythm wished to recharge some of the once, electronics. The room was so quiet, there was no sound at all. Blazing looked around, nothing. It was as if the world was dead, this was a dream. Then there was a small noise, it was unrecognizable, but it was of a pony. BlazingFlair took both hooves and clamped on to the cup, and sipped the coffee. Really, the life now was boring. And most ponies weren't that social like they were before. Blazing turned around, and saw the window. Somehow it was dirty, smudged. How did things get so dirty now? He stood up and went over to the window. Blazing took a towel, and wiped the dust off the glass. He watched the outside. It was like a photograph, it was still, with it's the rocky terrain. Then BlazingFlair placed the towel down. He saw something on the counter. They were glasses, probably HyperBlitz's. Blazing carefully took them with his teeth. He couldn't hold them with hooves, he'd loose balance, unlike a pegasus who could use wings. And he didn't have unicorn magic that could levitate them. The orange pony went through the main room, FeatherTune sat in his usual chair. Feather didn't notice Blazing though. BlazingFlair went into the hallway and entered into the first room on his right. HyperBlitz was sitting down on his bed. "I found your glasses." Blazing muffled. Hyper looked over and then took them from him. He placed them on the nightstand next to his bed. "Thanks." BlazingFlair looked at his bed, CD cases were spread across it. "What are you doing?" He questioned. "I don't know." Then Hyper fell and laid down on his back. He looked up to the ceiling. Blazing studied the CD cases on his bed, they were all albums. The first on was a red pony, with wings, holding a long stick with a flag on it. It's wing weren't normal, they were insect wings. The next was one was brown. A pony sat with a gas mask on, a spray-paint bottle next to him. Then, a black and white cover. Six ponies stood in the front of what to be an ocean. The fourth was hard to describe. It was back, with a white form on it to symbolize the sun. Last, but not least, was a brown pony with tints of red. There was a light gray layer floating off, like an explosion. Hybrid Theory, Meteora, Minutes To Midnight, A Thousand Suns, Living Things. Blazing glanced back at HyperBlitz, then he soon walked away. BlazingFlair kept going down the hall. He went to the room to the right at the end of the hall. The door was opened a little. He peeked inside. CharmingRhythm stood there, his back to the door. He faced the armor that was set up in a row. Rhythm studied his own armor. He was very still, he shuffled his hooves a bit, but that was all. He took a deep breath. He started off with a deep tone. "Skin to bone, steel to rust Ash to ashes dust to dust Let tomorrow have its way With the promises we made Skin to bone, steel to rust" Then CharmingRhythm got to a higher note, a bit easier for him to handle. He lifted his head. "Ash to ashes, dust to dust Your deception, my disgust When your name is finally drawn, I'll be happy that you're gone Ash to ashes, dust to dust" "What's the connection with that song." BlazingFlair asked. Rhythm turned around and blinked. "What?" "Well, most of the songs now have some connection with the world, right?" Blazing told him. CharmingRhythm was blank for a few seconds. "Well, 'skin to bone', that's all ponies are now, skin and bone," He looked at the armor. " And 'Steel to rust', we use a lot of metal, even for body parts." He lifted up his hoof. "Ash to ashes, dust to dust" Rhythm said all at once. "Too many ponies are now dead, and many more will be killed." BlazingFlair came closer as Rhythm lowered his head. "Anything else?" "I want the hybrid's names to be drawn! I do not want them! No of us do, of course!" CharmingRhythm stood up strait. Blazing nodded. "Yes, we will help. All of us. Those Hybrid's ruined it all!" CharmingRhythm's face suddenly got depressed once more. "No..." He murmured very quietly. "It was the ponies. We used all the resources, they are gone now. Hybrid's were supposed to be our salvation, but it turned us into monster." "Not us.... And the pure energy is our salvation!" BlazingFlair exclaimed. Rhythm eyes shot back to him. "Yes.... and it will save us. We need to go out, maybe tomorrow, to charge some of those buildings." He said. Blazing smiled and agreed. "Mm-hm. Maybe if we do that, some ponies would get more hope. Not mentioning you." "What?" Rhythm sneered. "I'm not that hopeless. I know that we can do this.... it's just that all those hybrid's are..." "Asses." Blazing finished his sentence. CharmingRhythm laughed. "Yeah." He put his hooves forward. "And we'll kick their asses!" "Sounds good!" BlazingFlair smirked. He took a quick look behind his shoulder. Nopony was there, but it felt like it. Then CharmingRhythm led out into the hallway, with Blazing behind him.
