//------------------------------// // Part 2 // Story: Love Pies // by Dawn Honeycrisp //------------------------------// It was a fine Saturday morning for a blue filly that we know, Rainbow Dash, to show-off her tricks to her friends, Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie. How did she met Pinkie Pie? Simple. When she first stepped on the ground the other day, and suddenly a pink pony with cotton candy-like mane that appeared out of nowhere tackled her. Back to our story... “And I call this one, the ‘Fantastic Filly Flash’!” Rainbow said as she dived towards the earth. When she was about to hit the ground, she changed her direction quickly into another direction. “Rainbow, Rainbow!! Watch out!” Pinkie warned, but it was too late. She hit an apple tree so hard that the apples fall without even bucking it. Fluttershy and Pinkie rushed towards her. “Ow... Oh no, m-my wings! Are they okay?” the filly asked, worried that she might can’t fly anymore. Not being able to fly for a pegasus - that would be the worst possible thing! Fluttershy shooked her head. Oh no, nonononono, it can’t be... “Um, I think we’d better bring you to the hospital, it looked really serious!” Pinkie said, tilting her head. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ The doctor walked into the room with the x-ray results. “Doc, are my wings ok?” the worried blue filly asked. The doctor corrected his glasses and replied, “Well, only some broken bones. She’ll be fine after a week resting here.” “A WEEK?!” Rainbow shrieked. “And no flying.” “But-!” she tried to reason with him. A week without flying?! That’s not fair! She felt a hoof tapped on her shoulder. “Young mare,” a lady-like voice said. Uh oh. Rainbow turned around to see her mom and dad, looking a bit mad at her. She grinned sheepishly. “Thank you, Fluttershy and... To think about it, you haven’t introduced this pink pony to me yet, who is she?” “Oooh, HI Dashie’s mom and Dashie’s dad! I’m Pinkie Pie! I LOOOOOOVE parties!” Pinkie said with a big grin, shaking both of Rainbow’s parents’ hooves. “Glad meeting you,” Rainbow’s dad just smiled. “Fluttershy, would you care telling us what happened?” her mom asked. “Well, um... She was showing us some-” “At first, Rainbow asked us if we want to see some of her cool NEW flying tricks! And then we said, well, at least I did, we would LOVE to see them because Rainbow Dash is so cool, and her stunts SO gonna be cool too! So then, we went to a really really REALLY big field! It was THIS big!” Pinkie interrupted, telling the story enthusiastically. “And then... Rainbow crashed into a tree during one of her stunts.” Fluttershy continued. “Rainbow, I thought I told you, no stunts before finishing your homework!” Dash’s mom scolded. Rainbow Dash slid into her bed sheet to hide from her mom’s deathly stare. Then Dash’s dad noogied her. “Dad! I thought we agreed to not touch my hair...” Rainbow grumbled as she grooms her messy mane. “Fine, fine. Glad you’re safe, kid.” her dad gave a caring smile. The doctor cleared his throat. “Well, we’d better be going. You heard what the doctor said, no flying.” her mom said before trotting out of the room. Her dad just smiled, then followed her wife out of the room. Pinkie Pie followed them. “Well uhm, b-bye Rainbow. Take care,” Fluttershy said, before following Pinkie Pie. Then the doctor went out as well. Rainbow sighed on her bed. --------------------------------------------------------------- The sun was raised from behind the hills, as the moon made way for the sun to shine as it sets, and another beautiful day was born. But another boring day for Rainbow Dash. The nurse knocked on the door before entering with breakfast. “Miss Rainbow Dash, breakfast. I’ll be back in 30 minutes.” the nurse said with a sweet smile as she gave Rainbow her food tray. But the smile didn’t affect the blue filly’s day. She sat up and stared at her food tray before looking the nurse walking out. She sighed. “At least it’s pineapple flavour,” she said as she ate her breakfast. As she ate her breakfast, she looked out of the window, pigeons and crows flying about, mail ponies, weather ponies, Ponyville’s residents with their daily lives and etc. Then she looked at her roommate, a young aquamarine-coloured unicorn - estimated to be at her age, who broke her hind legs because of a certain accident that involved an attempt on walking on only her two hind legs - reading a book about something called “Anthropology”. (She was in this room a week before Rainbow’s accident.) “Um, hi! What are you reading?” she whispered. The unicorn didn’t answer, as she kept on reading. Rainbow tried to call her again. “H-hey, green unicorn! Hey! Are you listening? I want to know what you’re reading!” she asked again but with a bit louder tone. The unicorn was a bit startled and started to look around the whole room, making Rainbow a bit guilty, disturbing her reading. But she just can’t help it. “Me?” the unicorn asked Rainbow back once she was sure that Rainbow was the one who called her just now. “Yes! The book you’re reading, what is it about?” “Oh! Let me tell you something...” the unicorn somehow felt happy and started to tell Rainbow Dash everything about these so-called bipedal creatures - humans. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ “And on that day forth, I believe that humans exist. Maybe they’re in another dimension? Who knows, right? Maybe... Just maybe, they even like ponies, like us!” “You’re weird... But I like your spirit!” Dash said as she hugged her new unicorn friend, Lyra Heartstrings’ shoulder. The unicorn hugged her sholder back. “Hey, you like flying right? Have you ever heard of a flying team called, the ‘Wonderbolts’? They’re famous you know.” “Never. Are they awesome? Are they super fast?” the blue pegasus said with a skeptical look. “Duh, of course they are! I can’t believe you never heard of them! Hey, I got two Wonderbolts tickets for their performance this Sunday - Bonbon doesn’t really like pegasus ponies, so of course she won’t come - wanna come with me?” “Sure! I’ll have to tell my mom though.” Rainbow said she she looks down. Rainbow noticed that Lyra’s cutiemark was a lyre. “So, your talent is strumming the lyre? Can you play songs for me?” Lyra looked down, her tail covering her rump. “Y-yeah... It’s not that special though, ponies nowadays don’t usually play the lyre anymore, they play the piano, cello, trombone, and other fancy instruments. I do know some songs, but my lyre’s at home.” “Aw, I always wanted to hear how a lyre sounds like. Not my luck maybe. Hey, you’re gonna eat your porridge?” “Oh? No, I don’t like pineapple. You can have some if you want. I ate my apple already.” she said, giving her bowl of porridge to Rainbow. “Great! I’m starving, thanks!” she said as she ate the porridge greedily.
