Prologue

A Dying World 700AF

It has been two hundred years since the Crystal Pillar holding Cloudsdale in the sky buckled and the Pegasi Metropolis fell, and since that day the world hasn't been the same, not that I would know, I can only tell you what I know from history books.

Since the fall, the world has crumbled to ruin, a white, sandy barren wasteland, plants no longer grow in the open air. The sun and moon no longer rotate since the deaths of the Royal Princesses who controlled them instead ponies are forced to bear the scolding heat of the sun all day. All the clouds dissipated, and since Cloudsdale was the home of the weather factory, we couldn't produce more to protect us from the heat.

Everypony I've ever known, my friends and family have died out, due to heatstroke, disease or monster attacks, I am the last of my kind, the End of Ponies.

I have to find a way to be able to save ponykind.

But how?

Valhalla ???AF

That time was lost; yet time continued onward. Divine Serena. Go peacefully to your rest. I will stand guard over your legacy.

The throne of the divine goddess sat in the center of an island surrounded by stone structures of varying heights. In front of the throne was a pink pegasus pony with a blue mane and tail, on her flank was a mark of two blue lightning bolts, she bowed her head briefly to the throne, then got back up and turned around, leaving the throne.

This endless realm is awash with sadness. Life and death lose all meaning under the rolling waves of chaos. Valhalla. The currents of time do not touch its shores.

The pink mare stands on a balcony overlooking the shore as meanwhile, in a strange golden metallic pipe, a red pegasus pony with an amulet around her neck branding cyan and red is falling, or perhaps flying through.

In this world of lost moments, I begin my life anew.

On the beach front, a centaur creature of blue and red, is wading through the waters carrying a grey coated pegasus pony with a blonde mane to rest peacefully for eternity.

With a deep voice, the centaur speaks, “This eternity – it was never your desire. Is that not so, Derpy?”

The centaur gets a vision of a city comprised entirely of clouds crashing to the ground as a pillar of crystals collapse. Flashing back to himself, he makes a grunting sound and as if by magic, the waves in the ocean reform into a tsunami. “Hmph” he spouts, turning around to face the city of Valhalla, it's shining throne structure looming in the distance as multiple mechanised creatures approach him. “Warrior Goddess. Now we cross swords!” he yells as he grabs a sword that was draped over his back.

On the balcony, the pink pegasus pony grabs her own sword in her teeth and as she does so a few pink feathers fly around it.

The centaur creature swings his sword into the ground with a forward motion and uses the momentum to swing himself extremely high into the air. “Lose yourself in battle, and rejoice!” he yells, slamming his sword into the ground creating a shockwave along the ground which hits many of the creatures that are charging at him, including two unicorn ponies that feature a mix of light purple and pink for their mane and coat respectfully, “Embrace the terror” he says as he grabs one, then slams her into the other, and hurling them across the battlefield.

Turning around he notices the pink pegasus charging at him. “Husk of the wandering comet, I summon thee!” a purple aura appears on the ground and the centaur throws his sword into the air, causing the pegasus to stop in her tracks.

For little apparent reason the sky above forms a massive cloud as a large meteor appears out of it, smaller meteors then bombard the landscape sending multiple creatures that are defending either warrior flying.

The pink pegasus easily manages to avoid the meteors and ascend to a higher mount, though the centaur is higher still with a wicked grin on his face, as she makes her way to the centaur jumping from platform to platform avoiding meteors she gets struck by one sending her sword flying. She quickly recovers her bearings then flies at a lightning fast speed to recover her blade. Clasping it in her teeth, she uses it to swing herself around and dislodge it at the same time. Transferring the blade into the grip of one of her wings, she yells, “Tirek!”

The centaur, Tirek, swings his blade horizontally sending a purple beam at the pegasus pony, the pony braces her sword in her teeth for impact, absorbing the blow easily, landing directly behind the centaur, “Impressive” he replies.

“Save it” the pony responds before both swing their swords at each other colliding blade onto their opponents blade.

THE LAST TRAVEL

Rocks crumble around them as the two combatants cross blades with one another, as she makes a strike with her blade, Tirek grabs the pegasi's blade with his hands, with an annoyed frown, she comments “Damn you.”

Lowering the blade of his opponent to his own chest, he says “Enough. Lets end this.” as a red glow starts to appear.

“Wha-? That glow...!?” the pegasus says, reclaiming movement of her blade and taking a step back.

“Cast your shadow over all!” Tirek says jumping into the air as his eyes turn red. “Wings of night!” From his sword, a huge purple mist appears by magic surrounding the pink pegasus and sending her platform to the earth in a pile of rubble, reacting quickly, she flies herself back to another platform with a pair of powerful well-trained wings.

The pegasus can do nothing else, but to watch in horror as Tirek transforms into a large dragon-like creature with dark black armour and wings. She tries to attack the new beast, but is easily repelled, and sent flying backwards.

Regaining her bearings, she turns around and flaps her wings to land safely on the ground, and starts to chase after the dragon-like Tirek.

“Forgotten time, be reborn!” she shouts.

Tirek flies ahead of her, then fires a huge light beam at her which she dodges by jumping into the air, taking wing and flying to safety. Running up the side of a tall skyscraper, using her wings for support, she prepares her sword for battle, “Come on then.” she says, ready.

Tirek fires multiple fireballs out of his mouth which cause the walls of the skyscraper to collapse, the pegasus jumps backwards, and swipes her sword at the monster, landing on the wall of a second skyscraper, and continuing to run up it. “What's he up to?” she asks, knowing that her opponent is up to something suspicious.

At the top of the building on the roof, the dragon flies from out of nowhere to fire a massive light beam at the pegasus. Shock appears on her face as she knows that there's nothing she can do to dodge such a large attack from point-blank range. Though dodging is out of the question, she's quick enough to attempt a blocking stance to mitigate the damage she'll bear.

The light beam is powerful enough to sunder many of the buildings within the blast radius, sending them to the earth in a heap. Miraculously the pegasus manages to land on her hooves to see that Tirek has returned to normal as well, but still at full power. “Right.” she says.

“Lets not waste time” he says sending a dark ball at the pegasus, instead of bracing for impact however, she instead strikes the ball with her blade, to which after a few slashes is send flying backwards at it's creator, unable to block his own attack he is sent flying through multiple pillars landing in a heap on the roof of a building.

Unfortunately, the pillars that Tirek smashed through crippled the support structures for several of the glass decorated roofs, that collapsed, though Tirek looked unphased by what was about to fall on top of him. “The Goddess made a wise choice. Powers of chaos, bend to my will!” again, his eyes glow red, and a distortion appears around him, which causes the falling debris to somehow slow down in descent which enables him to jump from piece to piece.

Tirek wasn't the only entity capable of using this to their advantage, the pink pegasus was doing just the same amount of jumping from rubble to rubble as Tirek was, even if she was fully capable of just flying if the situation called for it.

“Keeping up?” he asks.
“So, you want to destroy everything?”
“Oblivion is the fate of all things.”

The two jump at each other with the blades colliding in full force. Swiftly getting the upper hand, the pink pegasus takes her chance swiftly striking multiple times with quick succession her final blow in the combo sending Tirek flying into a piece of the floating rubble, but quickly regains himself.

“Now it's my turn” he says.

Tirek charges at the Pegasus as she tries to continue her assault with more sword slashes, but he's able to prepare and block them from coming.

“PATHETIC!” he yells as he's about strike with full force causing the pony to dive out of the way to dodge. Tirek misses, though rebounds off a piece of rubble to attack with sword slashes as he, and the pegasus fly through the air attacking each other in mid-air.

“Lets end this, you're done!” the pegasus says as she's able to somehow draw some magical power into a ball of light that she fires at Tirek.
“Not today!” he says throwing a ball of his own to which the pegasus got lucky in that her magic was able to just barely beat out Tireks sending him flying once more.

“I must thank you. In these final moments, I have met my finest opponent.” Tirek says as he gets up from his landing.

Jumping off of her rubble piece, she flies at Tirek this time letting her tail catch her sword after tossing it behind her. “You're finished Tirek!” she shouts about to attack. This time she uses more than just her sword, she throws in some powerful bucks from her fore and hind legs, all of which cause major damage to his chest, sending him flying into the ground at a very high speed.

The flow of time surrounding the falling rubble of glass catches up and it finally falls to the ground.

Peering down at the smoke from the debris falling on top of Tirek, the pegasus spots a bright light from above in the corner of her eye, “Serena's gate?” she questions. The same pegasus pony that was travelling through the metallic realm appears falling through the sky.

Of course. The one from the vision. I know your name. Limit Break.

Spreading her wings the pink mare jumps off the side of the building she is standing on and takes to the sky in chase to catch up to the red mare. Just as the same black winged and armoured dragon that Tirek transformed into flies after her again.

Unable to react properly the red mare doesn't spread her own wings to fly, instead continues to fall. “Quickly” shouts the pink mare.

“What in the?” the red pony says as she's finally aware that she's falling and spreads her own wings to fly, the pink mare catches up and the two are flying side-by-side.

“Where am I?” the red mare asks.
“Valhalla. You prayed for a miracle, and that brought you here. Or am I wrong?”
The red mare was puzzled, “How did you know?” it was a valid question, how did she know?
“From Valhalla, I can see everything.”
“But... who are you?”
“Firefly.” she replies just as the Dragon-Tirek catches up to them. “Time for a real fight”

Thanks to their natural pegasus speed, both Firefly and the red mare, Limit Break are able to dodge most of Dragon-Tirek's attacks, and make use of sword swipes and in-air bucking to send him crashing down, to the ground once more to land their hooves on the roof of one of the many buildings in their vicinity.

“How do we fight him?” Limit Break asks.
“This is not your battle. There's something else I need you to do.”
“What?” Limit Break asks, curiously.
“Bring my daughter to me. Her name is Rainbow Dash.” Firefly responds.
“Okay.”
“You'll need to use the portal. Your time-gazing friend should have told you how it works.” informs Firefly as the two mares look upon a crystalline structure consisting of many rods and swirling colours.
“That's a gate...?” Limit Break says, “But, why me?”
“Because you're the only one who can. You crossed the Void and made it to Valhalla. You can find Rainbow Dash, and together you can change the future.”
“Wait. I can change the future?” Limit Break questions.
“Yes.” Firefly materialises a small crossbow into thin air and hoofs it to Limit Break who catches it in her tail. “A good luck charm. Give it to Rainbow Dash.”
“Right. You got it. I'll track her down.”

In a puff of smoke on a balcony higher up, Tirek appears to the pair of mares.

“Enjoying your little chat?” he asks.
“TIREK?!” Limit Break responds surprised.
Firefly stands in Limit Break's way. “Get to the gate. I'm counting on you!”
“Okay!”

Tirek transforms into his dragon form again while Limit Break jumps off the balcony and dives for the portal.

“Not this again” Firefly says as she jumps after Tirek.

Landing on the ground, Limit Break takes a quick look around to spot the entire glass structure fall in a white fireball onto Firefly, who's bracing for impact.

“...Rainbow...”

Limit Break spots that she has very limited time and jumps once more towards the portal.

“Gotta go!”

As she approaches the portal, he disappears as Valhalla itself crumbles.

My hopes go with you, Limit Break. Become an arrow through time, and speed your way to Rainbow Dash. Be there for her... because I no longer can.
