My Princess

Together

Eternity. Exactly how long is it? Is it truly forever or is it something else entirely? Eternity seems like a long time but truthfully it's as short as a day if you don't enjoy it. How long are you suppose to enjoy eternity? It isn't be forever because that's how long it lasts. All of these questions were so frustrating, especially if you actually do have all of eternity to think about them.

All of these thoughts were swirling around Princess Celestia's head as she sat on her throne and stared into her sister's beautiful night. Always these thoughts had been resting in Celestia's head, but they brought themselves to the surface when heavy events occurred. What had transpired today had clearly counted as a heavy event, for the thoughts seemed to be here to stay...at least for now.

Today had been a heavy day indeed for everypony. Surely Twilight Sparkle could agree with that more than anypony else, she never even saw it coming. Celestia allowed herself a little smirk as she continued in her thoughts. More than anything, today was a very memorable one, and the most exciting princess coronation she had ever seen...or perhaps it was just because of nostalgia that she felt that way. Either way, Princess Twilight truly deserved today's events, no matter how intense they may have been.

Right now, her most faithful little princess was probably enjoying her test flight around Canterlot. Celestia had requested that she spent the night here instead of home in Ponyville so they could discuss...things in the morning. A conversation that Celestia surely wasn't looking forward to, but felt it must be done. It was times like this when she wished there was a book on how to be a princess, then again, it wouldn't sell very well.

Celestia rose from her throne and began trotting to the castle balcony, she was going to need a better view of the night for her thoughts.

"Your Highness!" The two balcony guards bowed.

"At ease, you may retire for the night." Celestia announced.

The guards looked at each other with confusion. "But Your Highness..."

"I said you may retire." Celestia reinforced.

The guards bowed once more before hesitantly leaving the balcony.

Celestia stood to the edge and searched the sky for any sign of her Alicorn apprentice, but found nothing but stars. She sighed and returned to her thoughts. She was so wrapped up in her thoughts that she didn't even notice the dark blue Alicorn trot up next to her, also staring into the stars.

"Admiring my hoofiwork?" Princess Luna teased.

Having been over a thousand years old, one would assume that nothing surprises Celestia anymore and they would be correct...with the exception of her dear sister. Celestia let out a soft sound of surprise and looked to her side to see her sister smirking at her.

"Hello Luna, what are you doing here?" Celestia tried to sound calm and collected but it came out in a nervous burst.

"I'm always here during the night 'Tia, it's you who's intruding." Luna replied.

"Not true, I accompany you through the night sometimes."

"As I with you through the day, but never either time have you been the one with the cloudy mind."

Celestia lost what little composure she had left for a moment before she regained it quickly. How did Luna know she had something on her mind? As soon as she thought it, she realized it was a foalish question, When didn't Luna know exactly what she was thinking?

"It is true, I have some...heavy thoughts to process." The sun goddess lowered her head.

"You're thinking about Twilight Sparkle, are you not?" Luna asked knowingly.

"Yes." Celestia confessed quietly.

Luna stared at her sister. "That's all? Just yes? Surely you have something more to say?"

"I do, too much actually. I just wouldn't know where to begin."

"For starters, we should discuss where she's gone, I do not see her in my night sky."

"That is what I was thinking and she's staying here overnight, so she couldn't have already retired."

"Hmm, she may just be resting on the outskirts of Canterlot."

"Well wherever she may be, I just hope she's safe."

"First off 'Tia, you know as much as I do that Twilight Sparkle is more than capable of taking care of herself, and second, she's a princess...well now."

Celestia sighed. "I know that, but I just can't stop thinking about everything that must be discussed."

Luna rubbed her muzzle with her hoof. "Why not speak with her now instead of when your bright sun rises? Both of us can see that you need to have this conversation as soon as possible."

"And what makes you say that?" Asked Celestia, confident that she had finally regained her calm nature.

"Your aching heart told me." Replied Luna.

And she lost it again. Celestia's eyes seemed to bulge out of her head as she tried to laugh off Luna's comment, resulting in her taking on a very insane look.

"Sister? Are you alright?" Luna asked with a worried expression.

Celestia immediately stopped laughing and cleared her throat. "No, not really. And it doesn't make any sense. I even held my cool when the Gala turned into chaos! But it seems I can't even handle the pressure of discussing eternity with my most faithful student."

Luna turned her attention back to the sky. "Speaking of chaos, where's Discord?"

"He's off somewhere, sulking about not being invited to the coronation and the other excuses he uses for visiting his incarceration site."

"What is it about that spot that intrigues him so much?"

Celestia craned her neck around. "Because it helps him think about his mistakes and how he'll try anything to make sure it doesn't happen again."

Luna let out a mighty laugh. "You make it sound as though he's suddenly pure of heart."

"Maybe not now, but give it time." Said Celestia as she counted the stars.

"True to my previous statement, time is something you currently do not have." Luna frowned.

Celestia let out a sigh and stared down at her own hooves, then her sister's beautiful moon. It was true that there were many things to discuss with Twilight, but she didn't want to talk about them at night. What if she had nightmares? The same nightmares that she had when she first became a princess? The sun goddess just couldn't risk that...however, it was very important. No! If she could live to be over a thousand years old, then she could wait at least one night.

"I do time, I've always had time." Celestia replied confidently.

"Ah, cryptic statements," Luna smirked. "It seems you've returned to the world of the calm, 'Tia."

Celestia chuckled a little. "Perhaps I have...Luna?"

"Yes sister?"

"How do we deal with this?" Celestia started with a quivering voice. "How do we put up with living for all eternity with no one but each other?"

Luna stared dumbfounded at her sister. "We've had this conversation how many times? And it's always the same answer, if no one else at least we each other - which is what you just said!"

Luna summoned magic into her horn and looked around for a target until she decided on firing it into the night sky. Turning around with a shaky voice, Luna whispered "At least we have each other..."

Celestia looked at the spot in the sky where Luna's magic had fired and gently fired off a magic bolt of her own.

"This is the reason I'm scared Luna, what if she reacts the same way? I can't handle upsetting her, it would just be too much to..." Celestia could say no more before she lowered her head and allowed her tears to fall.

Centuries of tears allowed themselves to escape in rivers down Celestia's muzzle as she made small choking sounds that broke Luna's heart. Sure, they were already insane within the first century of this eternal madness, but they had stay strong for Equestria and each other, until now that had worked out pretty well, but it seems the pressure of introducing a newbie to the horrifying life of an Alicorn had once again gotten to Celestia.

Over the past few months, Luna had endured Celestia's constant comments on how amazing it would be to recruit her most faithful student into a princess. Luna had always just assumed it was because of how close Twilight Sparkle had been to her and now they would be closer than ever. However, recently Luna had noticed something...odd about the way Celestia was talking about the young soon-to-be Alicorn, so Luna ignored common sense and went into Celestia's dreams for the answer. What she discovered was...unexpected.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The dream was a happy one, Luna sensed this as soon as she arrived, but it wasn't just sunny day happy, this was I-just-found-the-love-of-my-life happy. She quickly looked around her surroundings, it was just an endless, incredibly sunny, grassy field. Luna took to the dream sky to locate her sister and see what this dream was all about. Once in the sky, she realized that this dream was really sunny. When she got over being temporarily blind, she noticed the sunlight seemed to be aiming at something. Luna put two and two together and raced over to finally understand the situation. Again what she saw was not to be expected.

She feared she may have let a gasp escape her muzzle when she spotted Celestia affectionately covering another Alicorn with her large wing. It took all of two seconds before Luna noticed that the part of the Alicorn that she could see was purple. Luna could have sworn she just imagined it when Celestia removed her wing from the pony's body and leaned over to stare into her eyes. A million entirely different thoughts thrust themselves into her head as she took in the familiar purple Alicorn.

At first glance, anypony could guess that it was a...slightly older Twilight Sparkle...with wings, but what Luna couldn't understand was what she was seeing, was Celestia dream-snuggling her favorite student? That alone was extremely strange, but what her beloved sister did next could have knocked her out of the sky with shock. Celestia leaned in even closer and kissed Twilight Sparkle on the lips, and she didn't push her away!

It wasn't even a friendly mother-daughter peck on the check, this was a full on passionate kiss on the lips and they both seemed to be enjoying it very much. Luna had theories about this in the past and she had joked to Celestia that she had to find herself a special somepony, but she knew both those things were completely ridiculous for them. Before she gave herself away with all of her gasping, Luna excused herself from her sister's very strange dream.

As soon as Luna returned to the normal world, she went to check on her currently sleeping sister. Opening the door, she saw that the princess was indeed resting peacefully in her bed with a smile plastered on her face. Smiling slightly, Luna slowly closed the door and walked out to the balcony. Now she knew, she knew what should have been obvious all along. Now all that was left was wait until after Twilight Sparkle finally fulfilled her destiny and afterwards ask 'Tia a simple question that would explain everything: "What now?"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Or at least that was how she envisioned the scene would turn out, never had she imagined this to happen. Here they both were, fueled by their little pony emotions. Even being goddess hasn't helped them cope with the sadness of life, it just gave them more time to accept it and learn to fight it...unfortunately that worked for all of one hundred years until they realized that sadness is always there, just waiting to strike when your guard is down.

But enough was enough, Luna wasn't about to stand back and let sadness dominate her sister's life once again, especially not when her happiness wasn't the only one at stake.

"No 'Tia!" Luna shouted. "You must not be afraid to comfort the sadness within your immortal heart!"

In order to even hold a conversation in this state, Celestia used her magic to hold back the tears and choking sobs. "M-m-my sadness? Luna p-please, we are discussing T-T-Twilight here."

"Don't speak such lies out loud sister! We both know that this is not about securing either of your separate futures, but your single future together!" Luna shouted once more.

Once Celestia was sure she had most of her control back, she released her magic. "What are you implying, Luna?"

"I didn't want you to find out this way, but...I visited one of your more...passionate dreams of you and Twilight Sparkle, and I put two and two together so too speak." Luna explained nervously.

"Ah." Celestia sighed. "I suspected that I felt your presence, but I ignored it because you never spoke of it...until now."

Luna sat on her rump and rubbed her face with her hooves. "Dearest sister, I know you want to delay this talk to avoid scaring her, but she needs to know as soon as possible, else you would just be torturing yourself."

"It would only be until morning."

"But it wouldn't be would it? In the morning you will find an excuse not to tell her, and we'll be stuck in an endless loop...so to speak."

Celestia considered this statement. It was true that she wanted to avoid having this horrible talk as much as possible, but to have it at night...

"What if she has nightmares?" Celestia asked.

"I'll see to it that she has pleasant dreams." Luna assured her sister.

Celestia allowed one more gasp to leave her mouth. She had forgotten that Luna could always protect her from the nightmares.

"You really are looking out for me aren't you?" Celestia smiled.

"Of course, what kind of eternal sister would I be if I didn't?" Luna smiled back.

The two Alicorns looked into each other's eyes. All the other could see was their sisterly bond reflected back at them. The two shared a much needed hug and returned their gaze to the night sky.

"I'll speak with her tonight." Celestia announced to the heavens. "However, there is the small issue of locating her first."

"That's hardly an issue." Luna spread her wings. "I can easily locate her so long as she is under my moonlight, excuse me."

Luna closed her eyes and tapped into her lunar abilities. Her powers seemed stronger tonight, was it the thought of fulfilling her sister's happiness that brought her new strength? Luna opened her eyes only to reveal large glowing white orbs. Her wings flew open and she slowly ascended into the sky. The all-seeing view of the moon was all she could see through her bright eyes. Having entered an overhead perspective, she immediately began searching for the purple princess. It felt as though an eternity had passed before Luna finally released one last glow from her eyes and descended back onto the balcony.

"That's so uncomfortable." Luna announced while trying to blink away the glow in her eyes. "Anyway, I managed to locate Twilight Sparkle."

"Great! Where is she?" Celestia asked eagerly.

"She's resting by the side of the river on the outskirts of the city, tossing rocks." Luna replied.

"Ah, that's within trotting distance."

"Well, you must be on your way then, and don't worry, they may not be right away, but in time, everything will be fine."

"I know."

The sisters shared one last hug before Celestia rose into the air and landed on the sidewalk. Sure, it would have been easy to simply fly over to the river, it was close by after all, but trotting gave her time alone with her thoughts. She needed to decide how best to approach Twilight with this depressing subject. This seemed so silly, she always knew exactly what to say to Twilight in the past, especially when she was still a little filly. It seemed like only yesterday. (Then again everything does when you're immortal.)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"I failed again!"

"It's okay Twilight, everypony goes at their own pace."

"B - b - but-"

"Shhh, now try again, but don't concentrate on the wrong, only the right."

This is how magic lessons usually went at the river where Twilight and Celestia practiced at. Twilight would insist that she couldn't perform a certain spell after she fails it only once and Celestia would have to reassure her that she can indeed do it until she finally does succeed. Not that Celestia had any problems with that, it could take Twilight weeks to learn a spell and Celestia wouldn't care, so long as she got to spend time with her favorite little pony.

This time, they were dealing with a levitation spell, not an easy one, but if anypony could do it, it was Twilight Sparkle. Taking a deep breathe, the purple filly summoned magic through her horn and pointed it at the large rock resting in front of her. At first, it was true that nothing happened, but after a few seconds, rock glowed in the same color as her magic and slowly floated into the air for a total of four minutes, then fell back to the ground.

"See? I told you you could do it Twilight!" Celestia congratulated her student.

Twilight still hung her head down. "Except that I didn't do it, the goal was to levitate the rock for five minutes...I only did it for four minutes."

Celestia lifted her student's face with her hoof. "Twilight, you did the best you could and for now, that's enough. There will be a time when you can levitate the rock for hours and hours, but for now, it'll have to be four minutes. Do you understand?"

"Yes Princess Celestia." Twilight sighed.

"That's enough training for today, let's go inside."

Twilight gasped in surprise, it was still a sunny day and her teacher already wanted to stop? "But Princess, it's so early."

"I know," Celestia said. "But you've been pushing yourself so hard lately, you deserve a break or two every once in a while."

With that being said, Celestia began trotting back to the palace and motioned for the Twilight to follow her. Still slightly confused, the filly closely followed. Once inside the castle, Celestia trotted over to the kitchen and magically prepared two cups of hot chocolate. She levitated one cup over to Twilight who took it with her magic and sipped it, only to regret it as the chocolate was still white hot.

"Careful Twilight." Celestia chuckled as she laid on the rug in the center of the room.

"Sawry Primsis." Twilight mumbled with her burned tongue.

"You mustn't apologize for everything that goes wrong Twilight." Celestia monitored for her student for join her by the fire.

Twilight eagerly trotted over to her mentor and laid beside her with her still-steaming cup of hot chocolate.

"Um, Princess?" Twilight said. "Why do you always have a crackling fire?"

"Because Twilight, fire can reflect your emotions back at you and I think everypony needs that every once in a while, so I just have it all the time." Celestia left out the part where it helped her stay sane.

Twilight seemed content with this answer and went back to blowing on her hot chocolate. Celestia watched her student and even giggled every few seconds at how adorable this scene was. She hoped that this moment could last forever, only to remember with a pang in her heart that someday it might. If Twilight really was the pony of legend, then one day they both might be dealing with the insanity of eternity.

Now wasn't the time for those thoughts however, because as powerful as she may become, in reality, Twilight was still just a little filly who still needed somepony to look up to, which is where she came in. As long as Twilight need her, Celestia would be there for her in a heartbeat and that would never change, no matter what prophecy dared to say otherwise.

"Princess?" Twilight said as soon as she finally got her drink to be her preferred temperature.

"Yes?"

"Can we stay like this for a while?" Twilight pleaded with a cute little pout.

Celestia felt like her heart was about to explode. "Of course, we can stay like this for as long as you like Twilight."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Those were the good days, the days when Celestia didn't need to worry about changeling invasions or ancient empires rising, but she wasn't in those days anymore, now she had a confession to make with the newest princess of Equestria which also happened to be her most faithful student...this should be fun. With these thoughts swirling in her head, Celestia didn't notice at first when she finally arrived at her destination. Just as her sister had said, there was Princess Twilight Sparkle, still in her coronation dress, sitting on the edge of the river, magically tossing rocks.

"Careful not to ruin your new dress." Celestia announced as she approached her fellow princess.

"Huh? Oh, hello Princess." Twilight said with just a hint of sadness in her voice.

"What're you doing here?"

"Just looking back on old times I guess, nothing will be the same after today anyway right?" Twilight tossed another rock onto the surface, which skipped twice and sunk to the bottom of the river.

Celestia wanted nothing more in that moment than to reassure Twilight that everything will stay the same and that everything would be okay, but she knew that was the complete opposite of what she was about to say. Celestia trotted up to Twilight and sat down beside her.

"Twilight, you must understand-"

"I've heard that before..." Twilight interrupted.

Celestia blinked. "Excuse me?"

Twilight also blinked and shook her head. "Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry Princess, I just...have some stuff on my mind."

"I'm listening." With any luck, Twilight would do all the talking for her.

Twilight rubbed her eyes with her hoof, from the dew on her hoof, Celestia assumed that she had been crying recently. "I'm been thinking about...this."

Celestia felt her heart drop. "I - I'm listening."

"About what the future holds for the new Alicorn me." Twilight muttered.

"The future holds very bright things for you Twilight." Celestia said confidently. "You have to believe that."

"Yea well I have a hard time believing in anything right now." Twilight tossed another rock into the river.

Celestia considered what to say next. Something was definitely bothering Twilight and it sounded exactly like what she was going to talk to her about. Maybe this wasn't going to be fun.

"I'm sorry you feel this way, however I'm still confused about what you feel this way about."

Twilight's posture changed, she sat up straighter and seemed to have an angry gleam in her eye. This really wasn't going to be fun.

"For your information, Princess." She spat the last word. "I believe you know exactly what I feel this way about."

Things weren't going well, Twilight had switched from sad to angry in a matter of seconds, and this wasn't one of her student's cute rages, she was genuinely angry.

"I won't know for sure unless you explain it to me." Celestia said gently.

"Stop that!" Twilight shouted.

"Stop what?"

"Stop pretending." Twilight whispered harshly. "Stop acting like everything is fine and that everything will always be fine!"

"Please Twilight, you seem to be avoiding the question." Celestia gulped.

"Please just...stop." Twilight murmured sounding defeated.

Sensing that going on any further would make Twilight snap, Celestia looked down at her hooves and waited until Twilight was ready to tell her more. Twilight had her head lowered, but she wasn't crying, she seemed to be trying to calm herself mentally. After several deep breaths using the technique Princess Cadence taught her, Twilight raised her head and stared into the distance. She had a hollow look in her eye, a look that Celestia had never seen before, something was seriously bothering her.

"How old are you, Princess?" Twilight's voice had returned to it's calm nature.

Celestia was taken back by this question, but answered nevertheless. "I honestly lost track at two thousand." Because eventually it wouldn't matter anyway.

She didn't say the last part out loud for fear of Twilight's reaction.

"And how many...friends...have you lost along the way?" Just speaking that sentence out loud seemed to pain Twilight.

"When I was young, I had many friends, but eventually I had to step up and become the ruler of Equestria, after a while, I just couldn't find the time to keep any friendships besides my sister's." Celestia explained softly.

"But...I don't want to lose my friends." Twilight now sounded on the verge of tears.

"You won't." Celestia said. "My friends were good ponies and we liked hanging out with each other, but in the long run, it was obvious that we were all just good friends, when my princess status threatened to destroy our friendship...we just let it. What did we care? We were just good friends to other after all, nothing more and that was unfortunate. But you Twilight, you and your friends have a very, very special bond that will transcend time. It will never end, no matter what."

A smile flashed on Twilight's face. "I know, in fact, not ending is the problem here."

Celestia's worst fears were confirmed. Twilight knew, she knew she had to outlive her friends, she knew she was now forced to live forever due to the fact that she had to trot Equestria as an Alicorn from now on. What she didn't know was Celestia's view on the matter.

"So you know already...Twilight, I'm sorry you feel this way about your fate, but it can't be changed, maybe it's even for the best."

"See? It's not even destiny anymore, now it's my fate!" Twilight shouted with tears streaming down her face. "I can't escape it, it's like a curse...a curse that's going to force me to watch my friends die before me!"

Celestia attempted to put a hoof around Twilight's body, but the former unicorn rejected it and trotted away from her mentor.

"I never intended for you to feel this way."

"Are you implying you had something to do with my 'destiny' Princess?"

"No...no I'm not I just feel guilty."

"Why?"

"Because I kind of want you to live forever."

"Understandable since you're my mentor but still-"

"Not because of that."

"Then why?!"

"Because I want you and I to live together forever!"

"What are you talking about?!"

"I'm referring to the fact that I'm in love with you Twilight Sparkle!"

Once the words left Celestia's lips, she instantly regretted it. It's true that she honestly didn't know exactly what she was going to tell Twilight once they ever had this talk, but it certainly wasn't going to be that. Celestia watched in horror as Twilight's face broadcast her emotions. Her face turned from a shocked expression, to a sad expression, then to an angry expression.

"So what? All this was just a selfish attempt to get you and me together as a couple?"

"Twilight, no!"

"It's the truth isn't it?"

"You don't sound like yourself!"

"Isn't it?!"

Celestia sighed and looked at her hooves for the thousandth time that night. "Twilight, you becoming a princess really was your destiny and it really is for the best for everypony, and I mean everypony in Equestria. That's where I come in, I've been in love with you for a while, can you blame me? There's just so much about you to love, you're beautiful, you have a wonderful singing voice, and you're pure of heart, not exactly a common trait among ponies, my point is that I in no way caused this to happen, but I do feel that there are upsides to this, and it's up to you to you embrace them."

Twilight had spots of red in her cheeks by the time Celestia was done, but it didn't change the fact that she was still flustered by this whole thing.

"I know we have all eternity, but it would nice to have an answer now." Celestia joked.

"I - I...I don't know!" Twilight unfurled her wings galloped further away from Celestia and flew off into the distance.

Celestia's heart has officially exploded, but not from happiness, from sadness. She'd blown it, she'd...blown her one last chance at happiness. Having realized the severity of the situation, Celestia collapsed.

"Ssssissster..." Chanted a faraway voice.

That sounds familiar. Celestia thought.

"Oh jusssst wake up alreaaady." It chanted again in a slightly more irritable voice.

"Whuh?" Celestia slurred as she opened her eyes.

The first thing she noticed about where she was, was that there was yellow everywhere, yellow walls, yellow paintings, even little yellow orbs floated around the place like little stars. The second thing she realized was that this was her room. The only difference in color in the whole room was her dark blue sister hovering above her with a worried (and slightly annoyed) look on her face.

"Oh, thank us that you're finally awake, I was afraid that your heart really did explode! Then where would we be?" Luna sighed in relief as she trotted over to the other side of the room.

"No different than where we currently are." Celestia sighed in sadness. "How did I end up here anyhow?"

"I sensed your despair, from there I located you with my 'moon vision' as some would call it, and here we are."

Celestia sat up.

"Easy sister." Luna warned.

"I'm not injured, Luna."

"But you are, in the most vulnerable spot, your heart."

Celestia's hooves instantly went over her chest. "Is it morning?"

"You should know, goddess of the sun." Luna chuckled.

Celestia blushed, in all the haste she completely forgot her divine abilities.

"Don't worry, I raised it for you." When Celestia gave her a confused look, Luna replied. "If you could raise the moon alone for one thousand years, I can raise the sun for a day."

Celestia couldn't help but smile at that. "Where is she?"

"I can't tell anymore, you should use your 'solar vision' to find her." That being said, Luna trotted out of the room, leaving her sister to her thoughts.

Celestia considered using her sun abilities at first, but eventually decided not to pursue Twilight, as she clearly had her own thoughts she needed to sort. After that realization, Celestia went on with her day as she normally would. In the afternoon, Luna approached her.

"So?" She asked.

"So what?" Celestia replied.

"Did you locate Twilight Sparkle?"

"I decided not to."

"Ahh, the old 'let-her-figure-things-out-on-her-own thing huh?"

Celestia blinked. "You've been very omniscient this past few days."

"It's only been sixteen hours...give or take," Luna replied.

"Still not good with time, hmm?" Celestia smirked.

"ANYHOW, I believe you are scheduled for a break."

"Luna, I don't think you can schedule my breaks."

"As a co-ruler, no." Luna said. "As a sister, yes."

Slowly, Celestia began to understand what Luna was getting at.

"I don't know-"

"Listen 'Tia, you've been through the worst and back already, the only thing left to ask is, what now?"

Somehow, listening to those two words seemed to relax Celestia's mind to the point of numbness. She might as well as.

"Okay." Celestia quipped as she excused the guards and trotted out the castle doors.

As Celestia stepped outside, she marveled at how beautiful everything was this morning, yes this is the perfect morning for that spot. She flared her wings and flew into the air, appreciating how everything looked from an aerial point of view. The place wasn't a far distance away from Canterlot, so she arrived in no time. Once there she took in the fresh air that made up the place, the soft feel of the soil below, and the feeling of absolute peace that surrounded it.

The endless grassy field wasn't quite as amazing as it was in her dream, but that was probably because there something - or rather somepony very important missing from this picture. Celestia tried to push the thought out of her head as she laid down in the wonderful grass. For once, everything truly was balanced and peaceful. No busy sounds of the city, no occasional cry of the average pony and no issues to deal with. Just peace...blissful peace. Of course it wasn't allowed to last.

As soon as the Alicorn thought about how centered she felt here, she heard the powerful beat of wings from above her. Celestia hated to have anything interrupt the occasional peaceful moments she had with herself, but if somepony was at her special spot, she had to know who.it was and what they wanted. She stood up and craned her head to see who it was. Her heart immediately did a somersault. It couldn't be.

A large purple spot in the sky grew larger as it hovered towards her, beating it's mighty wings in the process. Celestia's face could have been one big smile for all she knew, for she had never felt happier than in that moment. The purple Alicorn landed beside her with it's body turned away from her, still in it's dress from last night. Celestia just wanted to touch her, to make sure she was real.

"I thought about it." Twilight Sparkle said. "About all of it."

"A - and what did you decide?" Celestia asked, trying to keep her voice sounding calm.

"I realized that none of this was your fault, and I was just blaming you for my misfortunes, for that I just have to say...I'm so sorry Princess!" Twilight shouted as she turned around and rushed towards her fellow Alicorn.

Celestia rushed back with full force as they both collided in a hug. A single, emotional hug that instantly released all the tension between them. Twilight started shuddering as tears came her face once more.

"I also realized." Twilight said between sniffs."That I won't have my friends forever, and that really upset me, it still does, but at least I know I'll have you forever."

Celestia's heart just couldn't catch a break as it did a back flip inside her chest at hearing those words.

"Oh, Twilight, you don't even realize how happy you just made me." Celestia replied between sniffs of her own.

"I'm happy that we can be happy together now Princess, but I still don't know what to do when my friends-" Twilight buried her head into Celestia's chest.

Celestia gently rested one hoof on the back of Twilight's head. "Twilight, you seemed to have learned so little. You must enjoy your friends while you have them and when they're gone, they'll live on in your memories."

"I don't know if I handle that."

"You won't have to do it alone. We'll do it...together, my little - no, my princess."

The two new lovers sat there for an indefinite amount of time, reveling in each other's body heat as time went on, leaving them completely unaffected, because no matter what time threatens to throw at you, you can brave it as long as you're not alone and that's what eternity truly means.
