Chapter 3 – Golden tickets
As you get away from the town you finally slow down and sit on the ground. You try to make sense to your tear, ya thinking about what’s happened is emotional but it’s never made me cry before? You rub your head with your hoof, which doesn’t really have the same affect a hand with so pretty much worthless.
The slight breeze mixed with the warmth on your coat feels nice as you sit on the side of the road trying to collect your thoughts. You close your eyes and just listen to the sound of you breathing.
“HI !”
The high pitched voice breaks your moment of relaxation as you spring to your feet with a jolt. Upon leaping up you let out a single shot of purple magic from your forehead.
Two of the three little fillies in front of you let out a joyfully cheer.
“How did you do that!” Apple Bloom's voice is a nice change from sweeties but it doesn’t last long as she speaks up. “WhOa! ThaT waS So cool!”
Scootaloo on the other hand is unimpressed. “Why are you sitting on the road?”
You on the other hand are more surprised at being started would let out a bolt of…something. But your concentration is quickly snapped back to the three ponies as they continue to talk.
“Hey do you want to come with us to Ghastly Gorge?” Scootaloo and Applebloom both ask in unison, but before you can answer Sweetie begins to talk. “OH I forgot to give you this!”
The little white filly jumps at you as she ties a red garment around your neck, “The official Cutie Mark Crusader cape!” She gives you an excited smile as she bounces up and down, “Do you like it?”
You can’t see the cape on yourself but you notice they three are wearing the same red cape so you would guess the design is the same, it’s a nice simple design of a pony and although it may not look like the best stitch work you have ever seen it doesn’t matter….because now you are one step closer to super pony!
You tussle Sweetie’s hair with your hoof as you talk, “Thank you Sweetie.”
She gives you another smile as Scootaloo again starts talking, “So you want to come to Ghastly Gorge?”
You have no idea where or what they are talking about and an adventure again is not something you want to do, “Sorry I have to give Rainbow her ticket to Twilight’s….”
“You’re going to see Rainbow?!” The orange pony flutters a bit before landing back on the ground, “Tell her we will be at Ghastly Gorge if she wants to meet us.”
You nod you head.
Applebloom nudges Scootaloo, “We don’t want to get there too late that’s when the eels come out.”
“Oh ya, Bye.”
The three fillies run down the road laughing to themselves. Eels? You shrug the comment off and continue down the road towards the track.
As you near the track you unfasten the cape and stuff it into your bag, you don’t want to give Rainbow anything she could rag on you with. Most of the ponies around the track are pegasus and most are doing something athletic, you think you even see a pony doing push-ups with their wings.
You know Rainbow is always around the track, every time she wanted to do something it would always end up here. You look around for a moment trying to spot her rainbow mane but you can’t find her. You would call her name but you don’t want to look like an idiot if she’s not here. Maybe if I–.
You feel something hit your head and a quick small shot of pain shoots through the back of your head as you turn around to see what’s thumped you.
Your meet with Rainbow’s laughing face, “Dude, where you scared or something?”
“Hi Rainbow…”
As she lands she is still laughing to herself, “No Really, cause your face was priceless.”
You roll your eyes as you dip into your bag for the ticket, as you hoof it to her she stops her giggling.
She stares at your hoof for a second before she takes the ticket, “Hey you finally learned how to hold something…not bad, does that mean you want to try horseshoe throwing now?” She gives you a sly grin, “Cause I been practicing.”
Practicing the throwing of horseshoes?....try hard much? You give a laugh at her comment, “Practicing
hu? Can’t take a loss?” You shoot back your own sly grin waiting her respond.
You have always found her tomboyish voice cute when she’s mad, “I hate losing, so that mean you want to go?”
You blow at her, “Sure.”
She spins into the air with a gust of wind, “Great, meet me at Applejacks in a bit.”
“Why not now afraid of losing?”
Rainbow flaps a gust of air at your face, “Are you kidding of course not.” She points with her hoof to the track, “I’m helping Fluttershy on her flying training, she wants to help more next time we have tornado duty.”
You look over to the tack to see the yellow pegasus slowly flapping her wings as the others pegasus zip pass her. She is wearing goggles for some reason which kind of makes you laugh seeing as how she is going way too slow to really need them.
“You’re doing great Fluttershy!” Rainbow turns to you and shrugs, “So later?”
You think for a moment before you speak, “It can’t be too late I have a date with Twilight.” You tilt your head up at the end of your comment.
Rainbow lands and looks at you confused, “You guys are actually a couple?”
You stare back at her in surprise, “Ya?”
Her tomboyish voice is a little higher pitched as she talks, “I thought you guys were just doing stuff for her studies on friendship for the Princess?”
You don’t really know how much Rainbow knows about you and Twilight so you try to keep your thoughts clean as you answer, “No.” note to self, objective complete.
Rainbow rubs her neck with her hoof, “That’s cool, hey tell you what you beat me today and I’ll tell you a few things about Twilight, deal?”
You nod your head.
Her normal tone comes back to her quickly as she taps you with her hoof, “Don’t think I will take it easy on you.”
You give a chuckle to her comment.
“No seriously I have a reputation…can't have some normal earth pony beating Rainbow Dash every day could I?”
You’re taken back by her comment about being an ‘earth pony’ you don’t know why but that bothers you. “Ok Rainbow.”
“Ok meet me later dude.”
Rainbow zips pass you towards Fluttershy on the track.
You wait there for a few moments but as you watch Rainbow and Fluttershy go around the track it doesn't look like they would be done any time soon.And the once nice feeling sun now feels like it is burning your back. You now decide you would rather wait at home then stand around outside all day so you start to make your way back home.
