Chapter 4 (The Bryers Stone)

Running. Running. It was all he could do, she had seen him. Even worse she had enough time to recognize him. Before he bolted out the door he turned and stared, all he could see was the shock and disappointment in her eyes. It stung, deep. The only way to fight the growing emotions was to run. So that's what he did he ran away from her a second time. Others saw him, any hint of subtlety was now lost. His tiny legs that were part of the disguise had slowed down his normally unmatched sprint. He was slow. Apparently slow enough for some of the patrolling guards to get a good enough look at him. Some began pursuing others just stood there in confusion to why they were about to chase a little filly. They soon enough shrugged it off a trespasser was a trespasser after all. Rift couldn't look back he needed all the speed he could manage, even if he did look back it wouldn't matter he could FEEL how close they were to him.     Guard~ “ Stop running your just-” Everyone stopped, Rift, the guard, everyone. There was a massive forest green cloud of smoke rising from outside the village. It gave Rift the opportunity to slip away from the guard, he was running again, just a few more feet..... FWOOSH. Something had swooped down and lifted him off of the ground. Rift looked up only to have his gaze met with one Milky white eye and Burning crimson one to match. He recognized this one. It was none other than Chieftain Hurricane, their rainbow maned leader. As far their people were concerned he was the only pony capable of flight, much like Navi with magic. But Magic was feared among the bulk of his people, and so it was commonly associated with destruction and sickness. No one really seemed to mind that Hurricane had wings, in fact most thought it made him a higher being hence him being the villages chief. But then something strange happened he began to fly lower, and lower until he was on the ground. In front of Navi. He released Rift from his jaw and said 	Hurricane~ " Rift, im not sure why your like this or why you are with this mare you are traveling with. But that book...Hmm I believe i recall using it for the same reason im guessing you need it for. Would it be the Bryers Stone?".	Rift~ "Th-the what?" Ironically Rift was terrified, however Navi seemed completely unfazed by the massive stallion standing before them.	Navi~ " Is that the big stone wall in the middle of the forest? Because if it is we really need that book."	    Hurricane~ " Hmmm, So be it. But I ask you one thing. Rift, when your adventure with this book has finished i need you to return here."	Rift~ " Um, but sir..."	   Hurricane~ "Please, magic one change him back, i cant take him seriously like this."	   Navi~ " Yes sir." And with another flash Rift was returned to his normal form.	    Rift~ " Anyway.... Chieftain, arnt i banished?" 	Hurricane~ "Hmmm, yes well after my little meeting with this magic one here, I think i might be able clear our...misunderstanding." 		Rift~ " Meeting sir?" 	Hurricane~ " Oh yes, not long after i saw you enter the main gate i flew outside and saw your friend here. And well she was quite the....Talker. She had told me why she was here, but failed to mention that she had turned you into a filly, or that you two were together." Both gave a quick glance at Navi. She just smiled sheepishly. 	Hurricane~ " You two are about to set foot on a journey that will change both of your lives. So i do suggest that you two be heading out now. Oh and here comes the village guards." With that he flew off of the ground and back to the village leaving guards in his wake.		Navi~ "Shall I?"		Rift~ "Please." And with those words a massive cloud of green smoke appeared. Rift and Navi were ran back into the depths of the forest heading to their newly named destination, The Bryers Stone. They ran until the guards decided to give up the chase, they wernt actually that far from the stone. 	Navi~ " So what do you think could be on that stone? Seems pretty important." 	Rift~ " Not sure, but didn't Hurricane say that he used this book before, you know back in his adventurer days?" 	Navi~ "I think he did, Hey? How long has he been around?"	Rift~ " I'm not sure, he just sorta showed up one day when i was a filly, he lead us to victory against a massive griffin invasion awhile back, and well, one thing lead to another and he was made chief."	Navi~ "OH, Were here." Navi's face lit up at the sight of the massive monolith.	Navi~ "Open the book! Open the book!" Rift did as he was told. But then something strange happened. When the book was removed from Rift's saddlebags It glowed and eerie green and floated to the wall. It burst open pages flying followed by a bright light. When they could finally see they both gasped. The wall was now written in a language they were actually capable of understanding. Navi walked up and picked the book from the ground placing it off to the side. She proceeded to read off the newly legible writing.	Wall~ " Adventurers who have deciphered this code. I am the Bryers Wall. I alone hold the secret to the destination of the Ancient City of Gold Mare`Derado. If you wish to proceed on this quest please step into the light." With those words a small circle of light appeared in the center of wall.		Rift~ " Shall we?" 	Navi~ " Let's".
