//------------------------------// // Experimentation // Story: Scribblenauts Equestria // by munomana //------------------------------// Scribblenauts Equestria Experimentation Quick A/N: You may want to carefully peruse through this chapter. It explains the Notebook in detail, so you may be lost in the future if you miss something. Twilight stared at the bookshelf, then towards the notebook, then at the bookshelf. She repeated that process for an unreasonably long time, a face full of fear, shock, confusion, and pure... curiosity. She had stumbled upon one of the most advanced items in all of Equestria. This thing was capable of spawning ANY item at will. The best thing Twilight could spawn so far, were some classy mustaches. She had no idea where it came from in the first place. It was just hidden in a part of her library. No clues to its origins. She craved for knowledge. Twilight looked over the notebook a few times over. The previous words, "Organized Bookshelf", were gone. The book was devoid of any previous marks or lines, as if they never existed. She decided to examine each page. On each page, there was a single line. Around the borders of the page, there were multiple squares with rounded corners. Each square had its own symbol with small letters underneath each. One box was marked with a diagonal arrow. It had a small rectangle sticking out from the back. Underneath, it had the word, "Cursor". This confused Twilight. She didn't understand what type of cursor the notebook meant, so she pressed on it with her pencil. Instantly, a white cursor appeared from nowhere. It was projected onto the item ahead of the notebook, similar to a movie projector. Twilight didn't understand the cursor's use until she looked down at the notepad. Instead of the line in the middle, a word appeared on it. Below, three rectangular boxes appeared under the name. One said, "Add object", one said, "Add adjective", and the last said, "Edit Object". 'This can't POSSIBLY work!' Twilight thought as she realized what it meant. It was saying she could ADD adjectives to and entirely CHANGE existing items. Twilight's curiosity took into action as she pointed the cursor at the Organized Bookshelf. She looked down at the notepad before pressing her pencil against the box saying, "Add Adjective". The boxes disappeared. A line was spread across the page, with words, "Organized Bookshelf", but there was still more room. Underneath the line were two boxes, One with a check mark, one with a large X. Twilight added the adjective, "Pink", to the line before pressing the check mark. The bookcase was quickly showered with smoke and sparkles before it wore off, revealing the pink bookshelf. Twilight was absolutely stunned. She tried to think it over, maybe take notes and research, but she wasn't done. There were still multiple boxes to explore, so many opportunities left! The cursor disappeared as she tapped the cursor box once again. Twilight looked back over the notebook's choices. There was another box in the corner. When she tapped the box, a large map of the world was portrayed over the page, in full colour. Twilight recognized one area as Ponyville. She tapped on the miniature Ponyville before it zoomed in, making it a map of Ponyville. It seemed to be up to date in terms of buildings. She wasn't sure what exactly it did, so she tapped on Rarity's Carousel Boutique. As she pressed it, a large, "Teleport?" appeared in a large box. Below were two boxes with a Check mark and an X. Twilight was starting to lose sanity. 'Not only can it completely manipulate objects, but teleport me to any place in Equestria!?' She couldn't just leave it alone. She needed to test it. She stared at Rarity's boutique before pressing on the check mark. Instead of teleporting her, another box popped up. It said, "Not yet explored". Twilight was slightly disheartened, but she had figured that she needed to explore it with the notebook first. This didn't stop her excitement. She wouldn't have to run everywhere or wait for transportation. Twilight closed the map before looking back up to the final box on the top-left corner. It was a saddlebag. Twilight pressed the bag before a large box opened and filled the whole page. There was a small toolbar in the bottom. It had a small box explaining the page number out of the total pages along with right and left arrows. It said 1/1 at the moment. In the area, there was an item. It was a paper to be exact. Twilight pressed on the paper and held the pencil down. It seemed to grow slightly larger as if it came closer to her. She dragged it across the notebook, but surprisingly, the pencil did not leave any marks. Instead, it just moved the paper across the page. She dragged it the top right corner where it said, "Spawn". Suddenly, a spark appeared in front of her, and the paper visualized. It floated in the air for a second before falling to the ground silently. Twilight contemplated getting off the bed, but she remembered she had magic, being in the presence of an object of great power. She levitated the paper before her before she started to read it. To enter items into the Notebook's backpack, just hover over the item with the cursor and press the backpack icon in the corner. Twilight put the paper down before levitating it down onto the floor in front of her. She then looked back to the notebook and pressed the cursor icon. She pointed the cursor at the paper before looking back to the page. It had the normal options like normally, but she realized this time that there was a bag icon in the top-left corner. She tapped it with her pencil before the paper before her was shrouded with a grey smoke. The smoke flew from its spot and into the notebook, seeping in between the pages. Twilight removed the cursor before pressing on the bag icon once again. In the original spot, the same paper was there, sitting and looking pretty. 'U-unbelievable...' She stared at the notebook in disbelief for a moment. She didn't know what to say. This item could revolutionize Ponyville in many ways, for better or worse. It was the single greatest invention known to ponykind, and Twilight had it in her hooves. Twilight couldn't sit still. She was shaking in place, beaming happiness in all directions, challenging Pinkie herself. She had to experiment more. So she made something. Then another thing. Then another thing... Spike looked over the bookshelves in the library as he reached the bottom of the tall, wooden ladder. He placed the duster and other supplies into a bucket full of water sitting in the middle of the room. He examined his work as he wiped the sweat off his forehead. The bookshelves were sparkling clean, practically beaming. He could vaguely see his own reflection. Spike lifted the frilly apron over his head and placed it on the bucket, but was safe not to let it get wet. He picket the bucket up with both claws before slowly bobbling into the basement. He put the supplies back in their places before hanging the apron and emptying the bucket. Satisfied, he walked back up the stair, a hop in his step. He only needed to put the books back in order, which was Twilight's job, before he could go collecting gems with Rarity. "Rarity..." mumbled Spike as he happily reached the top of the stairs in ecstasy. Spike looked around the room, unable to find Twilight. Suddenly, a light-bulb appeared above his head. 'That's right! She was going to empty out her bookshelf!' Spike ran over to the bottom of the staircase going upstairs to their room. He cupped his hands before yelling. "TWILIGHT! I'm finished cleaning the bookshelf like you asked!" Spike stood there, still. He waited a minute. No response. Curious, he called again. "TWILIGHT, C'MON!" Nothing. Spike was washed over with a bit of worry and confusion. He was unsure why Twilight couldn't hear him. 'I'll just go up and get her. She probably took a nap.' He then sprinted up the stairs. As he approached the door, he heard some light thumping on the floor, as if multiple items were hitting the floor simultaneously. Spike placed his head against the door. There was no way he was mistaking it. Confused he opened the door. He was met with the sight of books, bookshelves, statues, scrolls, and cupcakes flying in mid-air with a myriad of different characteristics. "Twilight!? Where did you-" He then turned into a pickle.
