//------------------------------// // Chapter 2 (rewrite) // Story: A Final Chance // by Lady Brony //------------------------------// The next day: In the afternoon A purple unicorn researching friendship (again) in her study area. Regretting a split second decision she made last night about the show-mare. “I shouldn’t let her run away like that. She might be dead right because of me” Twilight thought, deep in guilt, “Maybe I should round up a search party for Trixie.” At the time Twilight hadn't thought of the consequences by letting Trixie go, but she now realized she should've helped when the Ursa Minor had crushed her wagon to pieces, but her pride of being the superior unicorn had gotten in the way, as much as she hated to admit to it. “TWILIGHT, TWILIGHT!!” Twilight’s number one dragon assistant called out through the building. “Yes Spike, what is it?” Twilight asked not paying much attention to him. “I-I don’t know if this is important, but I saw Fluttershy at the market when you told to get more quills for you.” Spike said as he entered the room. “But Fluttershy's always at the market,” Twilight replied, not looking from her book, “What’s the big deal here? Oh, that reminds me can you take--“ “She was with Trixie” Spike interrupted. “WH-what?! Tell me anything!” Twilight looking up from the book, shocked from the news. *** Earlier that day In the morning, the sun began shining brightly in the packed place with on-going, busy ponies doing some much needed shopping. The yellow Pegasus and the blue unicorn trotted alongside each other at the Ponyville Bi-weekly Market. With that in mind, the two mares walked, stocking up on food and supplies for the animals at the cottage. Fluttershy gathered items on her shopping list as Trixie used her magic to hold them for her. For whatever reason, Trixie was wearing a long gray cage covering her face and for the most she looked down at the ground. The unicorn kept very quiet, only talking when spoken to. Probably an attempt to not draw any unwanted awareness of her, who could blame her? Spike spotted them and not wanting to get busted he went in some nearby bushes. “What’s going on here, why is that snob back in town?” “Spike thought. “I gonna tell Twilight”. With that Spike ran to the library. *** Twilight’s face had shocked from the new knowledge. How can this be? Why was she with Fluttershy and trying to keep hidden for the whole town? Maybe there is more than meets the eye. “Spike, you did you notice anyone also seeing them?” “Umm, no, I came straight here tell you. So I didn’t see anyone to talk”. “Okay, Spike, did Trixie do anything unusual or say that seem out of line?” “Nope Twilight, I think you should go to Fluttershy’s cottage and talk to Trixie”. “Spike, are you nuts?” Twilight snapped. “I can’t do that” “And why not?” Spike questioned. “You’re too young to understand... for adult stuff.” Spike rolled his eyes at her, she would always say like this to shut him up. “Okay Twi, if you need me I’ll be having lunch, I’m starving”. “Fine, enjoy” “Bye” “Later” Spike said, leaving the room. Twilight went back to her studies. Merely to lose focus in her thoughts, maybe she should go see how Trixie is doing. Try to make things right with her and if possible be her friend... “Knock, knock” “TWILIGHT, Applejack and Rarity are here. Spike called from downstairs. “Thanks Spike, I’ll right down.” “What do they want?” Twilight thought, as she made her way down to see what’s going. “Hello, Twilight”. Rarity said. “Howdy there, Twilight”. Applejack said. “Hi you guys, how are you?” Twilight greeted her friends. “Great, I don’t know if you know or now but we saw Trixie with Fluttershy at the market.” Rarity said, getting right to the point. “Yeah I know, Spike, told me”. Applejack and Rarity stared at each other for a moment. “What” The mares said in unison, both confuse to what’s happening. *** Meanwhile Fluttershy and Trixie had finished at the market. Trixie kept herself nearly the whole she was with the yellow mare. She wasn’t acting like that snooty show-mare from the other day. She seems a b2it shier even for Fluttershy’s standards. In all probability it’s nothing to worry about, perhaps she’s still getting settling in. Trotting pass the popular sweets shop, Sugarcube Corner. An idea popped right in the Pegasus head. “Umm, Trixie would you like something from Sugarcude Corner, if that’s alright with you”. Fluttershy said. “Sure, I’ve never been there”. Trixie said, face to the ground. *** Fluttershy and Trixie entered the bakery only seeing oddly familiar a pink earth pony and cyan Pegasus with a rainbow mane sitting a table ating baked goods. The pink mare gave Fluttershy a quick hug before giving her what like a cupcake. A strange feeling told her stand in the doorway unsure to stick together or stay in the doorway until Fluttershy motioned Trixie to join her. Trixie took a deep breath before walking towards the table, this could get interesting fast. “You can do this, just go and get this over with”. Trixie thought, making her way to the group, slowly. “...and that’s why Oatmeal and I will never be together again”. The pink earth said, with an unfitting smile. “Pinkie, that’s such a shame, you guys were such a cute couple”. The blue Pegasus said. Now noticing the indigo unicorn next to Fluttershy, what is she doing here? “Hey Trixie, what are you doing here? Didn’t I see you run to the Evergreen Forrest?” The cerulean mare scowled. “I did but then Fluttershy found me and allowed to stay her place”. Trixie quietly said, looking at the floor not giving the Pegasus any eye contact. She did not to want to tick off anyone at the time. The Pegasus stared down the unicorn for a moment or two. The tension was thick you could with a knife. Before Trixie entered the stare contest giving the mare the same cold glare as she was receiving. “Umm Rainbow...” Fluttershy started but stopped herself midsentence when Dash provided her with the identical glower. Fluttershy knew from experience not make the Pegasus even angrier then she already is. Unfortunately the unicorn did know that common knowledge. “What the hell is your problem?” Trixie barked at the Pegasus. “I didn’t do anything to you, your acting like a bitch”. “Oh really electrocuting my flank doesn’t court”? Dash snapped. “You know what why don’t you just go back to the forest nobody likes you here.” “DASHIE, that’s so mean”. Pinkie said, as Trixie ran out of the bakery in tears. “You should go say sorry to her”. “Oh I’m not gonna talk to that snob”. Rainbow said heartlessly.
