Surprise Sleepover

As soon as Rainbow Dash was sure Applejack left, she bolted for Ponyville, flying straight for Twilight's house. Starting her descent, many thoughts raced through her head. Okay... am I sure this is a good idea? Landing in front of the door, Rainbow raised a hoof and was about to knock when the door opened up.

"Rainbow Dash?" Twilight said in a surprised tone. "I thought you were helping buck apples today."

Shaking her head, Dash replied "no, we decided that today could be a day off. But there's something I kind of need help with."

"Well, come inside then!" Twilight smiled, always eager to help a friend in need. She trotted into the kitchen and came out a moment later with a pot of tea. "So what do you need help with?"

Rainbow Dash was a lot of things, but she wasn't in the slightest bit subtle. "Well, I kind of have a crush on Applejack."

Twilight spat out the tea she was drinking, and started coughing. Even though Rainbow Dash knew she had a problem to deal with, the sight of Twilight spraying tea all over the place still made her fall to the floor laughing.

After the coughing fit passed, Twilight said "well... I was not expecting that. But I'm still here to help."

Rainbow Dash beamed. "So you’re really okay with me wanting to date another mare?"

Twilight nodded. "You are one of my best friends, and I will always support you." Using her magic to levitate a towel from the bathroom, she continued. "So I'm assuming you want some advice on how to tell her, right?"

"Yeah, but the thing is I don't know if Applejack likes other mares that way," Rainbow Dash sighed. "To be honest I'm pretty nerv-" She was interrupted by somepony knocking on Twilight's door.

"I'll be right back" Twilight excused herself. Rainbow Dash's uneasiness was almost gone, she had told somepony her secret and the best part was that Twilight still thought of Dash as one of her friends! But it instantly returned when she heard Twilight say "Hi Applejack!"

---

Applejack was worried, shortly after talking to Big Macintosh, Applejack found out that a bad storm was being created to make up for the recent drought. It was advised for everypony to get indoors and stay put. Her ideas about telling Rainbow Dash would have to wait for a better time.

"Hi Twi, do ya know where Rainbow Dash is? There's a storm brewing and she needs to come back home."

Twilight glanced behind her. "Actually, she’s right here."

Applejack thanked Twilight before running inside the house. Frantically looking around, she spotted Dash. "We need to go right now. A fierce storm is coming, and we need to get back to the house."

Rainbow Dash frowned. "But I need some help from Twilight! Can't we get like, another ten minutes or something?"

Applejack looked through the window and saw the dark clouds covering the sky. "No, Ah don't think we even have five minutes before the downpour starts."

Rainbow Dash stood up. "No, I really need to get Twilight's advice!"

Getting frustrated, Applejack managed to calmly reply "Sugarcube, we need to go, now." She tried to put as much emphasis on ‘now’ as she could. "Besides, if it's that important to ya, then Ah'll help ya."

"I can't, because it's about you!" Rainbow Dash blurted, and covered her mouth once she realized what she said.

"It’s about... me?" Giving her a confused look Applejack questioned "is there a problem ya have with me?"

Before Rainbow Dash could answer, Twilight interrupted "Um, girls? Look outside."

The two mares stared outside as rain splattered the window rapidly, followed by the sound of thunder. Before Applejack could strangle Rainbow Dash for not leaving when she asked, Twilight gave a small squeal of joy.

"Yay! You girls can stay here and we can have a slumber party!" Clapping her two front hooves together she added "and this time, things won't go wrong."

Rainbow Dash still needed help, and her (beautiful) problem was right in front of her. "Twi, aren't you forgetting something?"

Twilight was too busy levitating books off of the shelves too hear her. Scratching her chin she muttered to herself "now where did I put that sleepover book..."

Rainbow Dash knew that her question would probably go unanswered. "Fine, we'll have a sleepover!" she grumbled.

Applejack was still angry at Rainbow Dash for not leaving when she asked, but she did not need another repeat of the last sleepover. "Okay Twi, and thanks for letting us stay here."

"There you are!" Twilight shouted, and a small book was wrapped in a purple aura. "Let’s have some fun."

---

A few hours later, everpony was ready to sleep, after some party games and scary stories even Rainbow Dash had to admit she was having fun. But she swore to end Twilight and Applejack if either one of them told anypony else she kind of (loved) enjoyed the facials.

Trotting upstairs Twilight yawned, and was about to tell Applejack a joke when she realized something. "Uh, girls?" Both mares turned to look at Twilight and waited for her to continue. "I only have one extra bed. You two won't mind sharing, would you?"

Rainbow Dash immediately said "Yes!" much to her embarrassment.

Twilight giggled. "I had a feeling you wouldn't mind." She gave a small wink to Dash. "So AJ, are you okay with sleeping with Rainbow Dash?"

Applejack replied "Sure that's fine with me." She climbed into the bed and lied down on her side.

Twilight went over to her bed and was about to lie down and go to sleep until she remembered she was going to give Rainbow Dash advice. Shrugging it off, she decided it would be for the best to tell her tomorrow. Besides, I think they'll end up together soon enough.

Rainbow Dash climbed onto the opposite side of the bed. "Good night," she yawned.

"Good night" Applejack and Twilight sleepily echoed. Using her magic, Twilight turned out all of the lights and within minutes was asleep. Unfortunately Applejack and Rainbow Dash were having no such luck with sleep. Each just kept to their own thoughts while trying to solve their problems.

Eventually Applejack heard Rainbow Dash sigh and she whispered "Sugarcube, are you awake too?" She then turned around so she could face the mare.

Rainbow Dash faced Applejack as well. "Yeah, I've kind of had trouble sleeping lately."

Applejack knew that the transition from living by herself, to having only a small room was a big difference. Clouds were a lot better than mattresses as well (or so she had been told.) "Why have ya been having trouble sleeping?"

"Well, springs are hard and annoying," she replied.

Applejack was pretty confused. "But ya fell asleep in tress before..."

Dash shrugged. "I just like sleeping in certain places, but it wouldn't really be much of a problem if that evil rooster didn't wake me up in the morning."

Applejack chucked at that. "’Evil Rooster’, huh?"

Rainbow Dash nodded her head, with the most serious expression on her face she answered "Yeah I swear that thing caws every morning just to annoy me, at least I can turn off my alarm clock. I hate that thing."

Laughing a little, a thought struck Applejack. "You don't regret your decision, do you?"

Seeing Applejack's somber face, she quickly said "Of course not! Now I get to live with one of the coolest mares I know." She added "plus, you get to see my awesomeness every day, free of charge!"

Applejack was touched; Rainbow Dash didn't like things if they were not cool or awesome enough for her. "So ya really like living on the farm, instead of in the air?"

Rainbow Dash smiled. "It was a change, but I used to get kind of lonely."

Applejack leaned over and gave her friend a big hug "It means a lot to hear that from ya." Rainbow Dash returned the hug eagerly. Both were glad that it was dark because it hid their bright red faces, They just enjoyed the others embrace for a couple more moments before breaking apart and rolling to their original positions.

Rainbow Dash wanted to tell Applejack, but if she had just then the moment they had shared would have been less special. But this whole sleepover had helped her decide something. With a small grin on her face she started to outline a plan. Tomorrow, I tell her. That was her last thought before finally drifting off to sleep, Applejack's tail unintentionally intertwining with Dash's as the two mares slept.
