//------------------------------// // First smile // Story: My name is... // by Shinra Tensei //------------------------------// At dawn, Solar slowly woke up. She yawned and once again, she wondered where she were. Then she remembered last night. She was suffering from Amnesia. She started to cry again, just like yesterday. This woke up the doctor who had been taking care of her last night. - ''Hey hey! Why are you crying?'' he asked in a mild tone so Solar wouldn't think he was annoyed by her crying. - ''I still can't remember my name, who I am or anything before last night!'' Solar said while the tears were running down her cheeks. She was very upset again and the stallion tried to calm her down. - ''It's okay. Your memory will come back'' he said. She stopped crying and wiped away the tears that still were on her cheeks. - ''Promise?'' she said to him, now with a little hope in her voice. - ''Promise!'' he answered and gave her a big smile. She smiled back. Not a big smile, only a little one but it was still a smile. - ''Now, let's unhook those machines from you'' he said and carefully pulled out the tubes and syringes from her. Solar whined a little in pain as the syringes and tubes, some of them going deep into her body, were pulled out of her. She tried to stand up but she had forgotten that her right front leg was broken and she fell down on the floor. - ''Easy there! You'll need to be careful if you want to stand or even walk!'' he told her. She nodded and made another try. This time she slowly rose up with some help from the doctor who placed his head under her belly and pushed it upwards so she could stand up fully. Solar was now standing and balancing her weight on just three legs. Every time her balance slipped and some weight were put on the injured leg, she felt a terrible pain in it. While she was trying to get the hang of the balancing, the stallion were now watching her more closely. He hadn't thought of it earlier but now he noticed it. The mare was actually quite cute with her yellow body and turquoise mane and tail. Even though he liked that part of her, it was the eyes that really caught him. For a few seconds, he couldn't think of anything but her round, green eyes. He shaked his head violently and snapped out of the trance-like condition. Solar seemed to have gotten the hang of it now and carefully took a step forward with her left front leg, then she followed it up with her right front leg. This time, she was being very careful not to use it to support her weight. - ''Look at you! You're doing great!'' the stallion exclaimed and smiled. She heard this and laughed a little but that took her concentration away from the walking and she accidentally put some pressure on the injured leg. Pain ran through it and she collapsed once more and burst out in tears of pain. When she had stopped crying, the doctor helped her up once more. - ''I actually don't know your name'' she told him. ''Care to tell me? - ''It's Coron Flare'' he said. ''And yours?''. Solar's eyes were immediately filled with tears as Coron asked her. - ''I can't remember!'' she said in tears. - ''Oh my! I'm so sorry I asked that. I completely forgot your amnesia.'' - ''It's… It's okay'' she said and gave him a faked smile. She was still upset over not knowing anything about herself. She didn't want the doctor to feel bad over making her extra upset again though. He smiled back. - ''You have a very unusual name. Where does it come from?'' Solar asked Coron. - ''My parents were always very fond of heat and the sun so they decided to name me after the ''atmosphere'' of the sun. It's known as the Corona but that would sound a little too feminine so they chose to remove the last letter and name me Coron.'' he answered. - ''Well, it's a nice name.'' she said. She then blushed and looked down into the ground. During this last conversation, she had noticed how handsome Coron was. She especially liked the ponytail he had his mane in. Suddenly, Coron's face lit up, like he had gotten an idea. - ''Hey hey! I know what might help find out your name at least!'' he exclaimed. - ''And what might that idea be?'' she asked him with a smile. - ''You were probably on your way to Ponyville when you crashed because there's no other towns for many, many miles. Maybe you were going to visit someone here. Let's take a walk in the town and see if someone recognizes you. I bet someone does!'' Solar smiled at first but then she got a sad expression in her face. - ''But I can barely walk. How am I supposed to take a long walk in the town?'' she asked him. - ''Hey hey! Don't forget that this was my idea. That's why I also have a plan for that. You'll just lay down in a cart that I'll pull around.'' - ''I can't let you do that! You'll get exhausted!'' Solar said with a worried expression in her face. - ''That's were you're wrong. I'm strong and you don't look heavy at all. I'll be fine!'' he responded - ''Well, if you insist on…'' Solar begun but was interrupted by Coron. - ''I do insist on it!'' Coron said and gave her a big smile. - ''But don't you have any other patients to tend to?'' - ''It's actually very few patients here at the moment and we're even overstaffed so me taking a patient out for a walk isn't really a problem. in fact, it could actually count as physical therapy in your case.'' Coron said and laughed a little. - ''Very well then!'' she responded and laughed too. - ''I'll just go tell my colleagues that I'm going out for a while. You wait here, okay?'' - ''Sure!'' A few minutes later, Coron came back with a cart. He helped Solar up into it and then attached it to his back and sides so he would be able to pull it. He had considered pushing it instead of pulling while he was fetching the cart. Then, he quickly realized that pushing it would be a terrible idea. He wouldn't see squat and, at least to him, it'd be a much heavier work to push the cart in front of him. That meant that pulling it was the only reasonable idea which was what he had thought of first. - ''Ready?'' he asked her. - ''Full speed ahead!'' she answered him happily, having temporarily forgotten all sadness caused by her amnesia. And so the cart rolled out of the hospital, giving Solar a ''first'' look at the town of Ponyville. What she couldn't remember was that she had been there several times before. As the cart exited the hospital, Solar inhaled the fresh air and smiled for herself. She hadn't been out now for… well, she didn't know how long she had been unconscious but it felt like she hadn't been out for a very long time. Although, she was a little disappointed that she couldn't walk by herself. At least not any long distances. She decided that she would ask Coron to let her walk a few minutes later.
