Pink In the Big City

by Pinks

Prologue

Lost and afraid, a strange figure wandered the streets, avoiding getting near people as she walked and drawing strange looks from many of those people passing by. She finally took refuge in an abandoned building, sitting in the corner, her knees pressed up against her chest, confused, trying to figure out what had happened. She was a strange sight indeed, a greyish-pink dress, a darker faded pink hair color, and big liquid blue eyes that showed her fear all on their own.
There were so many noises around her, so many new sights, it overwhelmed her. She squeezed her eyes shut and put her hands up to her ears shakily. She had no idea how she got to – well, she didn’t even know where. It was so different than where she came from. This place was full of commotion and dull colors. She longed to be where it was quiet, with bright cheerful colors. The only problem was she didn’t have any idea where that place was now, and she couldn’t muster up the courage to ask any of these strangers for help.
Minutes passed, then hours, but it didn’t matter. She felt safe hidden away from the noise and the crowds. She squeezed her eyes shut and huddled closer against the wall, slowly drifting off to sleep. Even with all the commotion, the promise of a better, calmer place kept her asleep through the bustle and commotion.
Apparently she’d slept for a while, for it appeared to be that the sun was just rising. It was early morning, she was sure of that. There weren’t many people walking the streets. The perfect time for her to seek shelter. She looked around at her new environment, examined the few people walking by, studying what they did so that she could fit in and not draw any unwanted attention. They all seemed to be clothed, and luckily for her, she’d found herself that fitting dress where she woke up in the new place for the first time. Still, the colors were a bit uncommon for what she saw everyone else wearing, but it’d have to do.
