//------------------------------// // Awkward Naptime // Story: Rainbow Apple Acres // by MuffinYouSoCrazy //------------------------------// Applejack sat on the ground wondering why her friend had gone limp; about to ask if anything was wrong she heard snoring. Looking closer, Applejack saw Rainbow Dash's eyes were closed, and she was breathing in a slow rhythmic way that indicated she had fallen asleep. Applejack didn't really mind that the pegasus fell asleep on her (although it was a little awkward), but there were other chores to do. Deciding to let rainbow Dash sleep, Applejack tried to free herself by slowly wiggling away. But as Applejack started to leave, Rainbow Dash reached her forelegs around Applejacks body and buried her face deeper into Applejacks shoulder. Applejack stopped moving and slightly blushed. Still hearing snoring, she knew that it wasn't really Rainbow’s fault. Even though this situation was weird, what was weirder is that she almost enjoyed the sensation of the rainbow maned pegasus. Shaking her head at the thought Applejack dismissed it almost immediately. I'm not like that she stated in her head, silencing the notion. Great, Applejack thought. Now all I need is for somepony to find us like this and get the wrong ide-. Her thought process was interrupted by a masculine voice from behind "Am Ah interrupting anything sis?" Applejacks face became the exact same color as the stallion behind her. "No, Big Mac, RD here must’ve been real tired cause she fell asleep right here." Big Mac walked in front of the two ponies and replied "then why is she cuddling you?" A small laugh escaped his lips when Rainbow Dash sleepily muttered "...Applejack..." Applejack tried to retaliate but all she could do was sit there, her face burning as she gave Big Mac an angry stare. Big Macintosh gave his sister a big smile. "Well why don't ya wake her up? Or are ya enjoying yourself?" Beginning to be annoyed at what her brother was insinuating, Applejack tried to end the conversation as quickly as possible. "Ah don't wanna wake her up, because she got no sleep last night and she worked herself to hard out here in the fields!..You’re never going to let me live this down are ya?" Big Macintosh shook his head. "Eenope." Turning around the stallion started walking down a dirt trail that led towards the barn. "When you and Miss Rainbow Dash are done cuddling, the chickens need ta be fed." Finally snapping Applejack shouted "WE ARE NOT CUDDLING!" Practically seething with anger at all the teasing, Applejack decided that one event like that was enough. Turning back towards Rainbow Dash, she couldn't help but notice how cute her face looked when she slept- stop it, mind! Okay, now back to square one. Sighing, Applejack decided it would be best to let Rainbow Dash sleep a little while longer. But that didn't mean Applejack was going to stay where she was, just waiting to be ridiculed by some other pony who happened to walk by. When Applejack felt some drool on her shoulder, she decided she wouldn't feel guilty if she woke her friend up. Prying Rainbow’s forelegs off herself, Applejack proceeded to tap Rainbows forehead multiple times, until finally the mares eyes slightly opened. Rainbow Dash picked her head off of Applejack and asked through a yawn "What happened?" "Well," Applejack began. "Ya fell asleep while ya were resting your head on my shoulder." "Really?" Rainbow Dash's said in a surprised tone "I guess I didn't really get that much sleep last night." "Yeah Ah figured as much." Applejack turned away from Rainbow and began to wall away "C'mon. We still need to feed the chickens." Rainbow Dash stretched her wings, took to the sky and lazily hovered over Applejack. "Okay then the sooner we’re done, the sooner I can practice some tricks.” The rest of the day went by quickly after the chores were done. As soon as Applejack told her they were done with their jobs, Rainbow Dash took off as fast as she could flying straight upwards. Stopping the ascent she went down at an angle spiraling ever so close to the hard earth below. Pulling up at the last second she spiraled upwards, coming to a rest high above the ground. Wow, I haven't been this energized in a while. I needed that nap. Heh, maybe I should use AJ as a pillow from now on! Laughing a little she decided that that was enough practice for now. The spring bed was horrible. It was 11:59PM and Rainbow Dash hadn't gotten close to falling asleep. It wouldn’t have been too bad, but the pillow was flat and uncomfortable. Ugh... why can't this pillow be nice and soft like Applejack’s pretty orange fur? Her eyes jolted open, and Rainbow glanced around the room as if worried somepony had heard her strange thought. I'm not like that. No, just thinking about your best friend of the same gender as a cute soft pillow was not any indication of being into mares. Do I though? I mean Applejack is just as athletic as me. She can match me in contests unlike any other ponies. We have been friends ever since we were fillies. Normally around other ponies she tried to act as cool as possible, but around Applejack she could let her guard down and be more open. Yeah we are pretty close, plus we spend a lot of time together. Get a hold of yourself Rainbow! Rubbing her eyes, Rainbow Dash looked at the clock and groaned when she saw that it was past midnight. I'm just thinking crazy because I'm sleep depraved. When was the last time I got any good sleep?! she thought angrily. For a while she had been going to sleep later and later. The last time I got any refreshing sleep was when I fell asleep on Applejack. If only she were here then I could fall asleep. Then like a train the realization hit her. She was a fillyfooler. She fought the epiphany in shock, she visibly cringed at admitting she liked other girls. Actually it made sense she decided. I could never keep a coltfriend; I was just never interested in them. It was as if a heavy weight was lifted off her mind, now admitting the strange feelings to herself she thought she would finally sleep well. Drifting off to sleep, another realization hit her this one made her feel ecstatic and horrified. She had a crush on her best friend who also was a mare. She drifted off into an uneasy slumber filled with dreams of becoming a ridiculed outcast, and being shunned from her new home.
