//------------------------------// // Amnesia // Story: My name is... // by Shinra Tensei //------------------------------// 'What a beautiful day', Solar was thinking as she soared through the sky. The yellow pegasus was on her way to visit her cousin Fluttershy in Ponyville and she just loved flying during sunny days. Suddenly, an idea came to her. If she took another route to Ponyville, she could be flying a few minutes more. She decided to take this other route and made a slight correction of her heading so she was flying southwest. Little did she know that this decision would change her whole life. As time walked by, she noticed a cluster of dark clouds in her path. She was very surprised to see them as the sky had been absolutely free from clouds just a few minutes ago. She knew that it could be dangerous to fly through the dark clouds as turbulence would make it a bumpy flight which she wasn't very fond of. The most dangerous thing of them all was that possible microbursts could even make her crash into the fields below. She chose to fly around the clouds. As she changed heading to southeast, she saw how that part of the sky now also had dark clouds over it but not as a cluster, in that direction it was a complete overcast. Even though Solar knew the dangers that lurked in the clouds, she now wanted to get to Ponyville as fast as possible. She flapped her wings faster and flew straight into the clouds. It was complete chaos inside the clouds. What she couldn't see from the outside was the thunderstorm that was striking the ground below with lightning almost every other second. She started to become scared. This was unnatural. No thunderstorms are created in just a few minutes, at least not in Equestria. The amount of lightning strikes were also no way near what a normal thunderstorm could produce. Another thing that made her sure the storm wasn't a regular one was that there was no thunder or any sound from the wind whatsoever. It was like she had gone deaf. She knew she hadn't 'cause she could still hear the flapping of her wings. She had to get to Ponyville fast and warn the inhabitants that an enormous storm was heading right for the village. Then it happened. She was hit by a microburst from the clouds and she felt how she was forced down against the ground. Solar flapped her wings as fast as she possibly could but the force of the microbursts overpowered her. She screamed for help but none came and just seconds later, she hit the ground. Solar was immediately knocked unconscious from the force of the impact. Solar woke up. Her sight was at first very blurry and she couldn't see any details. After a few seconds, it returned to normal and she looked around. She was in a hospital stall. Around her was several machines that pumped some strange liquids into her veins through some tubes and syringes. She tried to stand up but fell down immediately as extreme pain ran through her right leg. She looked down at it and saw bandages covering it. She was wondering why she was here. She tried to think what had happened but she couldn't remember. In fact, her mind was completely blank when she tried to recall other memories as well. She realized why this was and started to cry. She had Amnesia. She was very scared because she had no idea about who she even was. Not knowing her own name was a very traumatic happening for her and she started to cry more and louder. Her crying soon attracted the attention of a young doctor. The stallion walked up to the stall Solar was in and looked down at the sobbing pegasus lying on the hay-covered floor. - ''Hey there! What's wrong?'' he asked her. Solar turned her eyes up towards him with eyes flooding over with tears. - ''I can't remember anything'', she whispered, looking at the doctor with eyes begging for help. She wiped her eyes with her left hoof and looked back up at him. ''And I'm in a hospital so shouldn't you know what's wrong with me?'' she asked, a little annoyed when she realized that the question was a stupid one. - ''I'm sorry! I was just trying to be nice'' the stallion said, a little annoyed over her manners when he was just trying to help her but his irritation was gone with the wind as she turned back to asking questions again. - ''Who am I? Why am I here? What happened to me?'' she asked him and her eyes once more began to water the floor as she asked these questions she desperately wanted answered. - ''You're in Ponyville's hospital and you're here because you seem to have crashed during bad weather with a broken right leg and a fractured right wing as a result. Your head also seems to have gotten a pretty big hit 'cause you were bleeding severely from your forehead when we found you. We had a citizen reporting something falling out of the sky and crashing into the ground.'' He smiled at her. ''Don't worry! Your wing will heal quickly, in about a weeks or so, and your leg will heal in about four to five weeks. It will take a while though before you'll be able to fly again. Even with the fractured wing fully healed, it will still hurt the first few days of flying.'' Solar nodded and then began to cry again. The stallion opened the stall with his hoof, walked in and laid down beside Solar. He assumed the mare needed a shoulder to cry on. When he had laid down on the floor, he noticed the frightened look on her face. - ''Wha-what are you doing?'' Solar asked him with a little fear in her voice. She didn't like it when a complete stranger came that close to her now when she was very upset. She didn't like it that much otherwise either but now it was even worse. - ''I though you might need to cry out on a shoulder. I'm very sorry if I scared you'' the stallion said and stood up again. ''I'll check back on you in an hour or so''. As he walked out of the booth and away from her she started to cry again. - ''Wait!'' she cried after him. ''Don't leave me here all alone!''. He stopped as he heard Solar begging him to come back. ''Please… don't leave me…'' she said again, whispering this time. The stallion came back, smiled at her and laid down beside her again. - ''It's okay. Everything's going to be okay'' he said. She moved a little closer to him, using just her left front and rear legs which was quite difficult but she didn't want to use her right leg. It would be too painful. She put her head under his chin to feel close and safe and then she drifted off into a dreamless sleep.
