Chapter 4 (Do or die)
“STOP!” The cracky famine voice hits your ears like a drum beat and you collapse to the ground in a panting exhaustion.
Rainbow looks at her stop watch and then to you “Not bad.”
You thought Twilight would be in control of your…training, but no it turns out Rainbow decided to take command of trying to get you use to your new body. Your legs throb from running up and down stairs, push-ups, balancing acts and all sorts of other exercises. You lay on the ground too tired to move, you have no idea how long you have been doing these exercises but you know it must have been all day because you can see the sun is starting to set.
Rainbow walks to where you lay “Ok I think you’re done for the day.”
You’re stuck on what she said “Today?” you think, ya no I’m done for a month, that wasn’t exercises that was some military training.
Twilight and Spike sit on a nearby chair. Twilight looks up from the book she has been reading “Oh you’re done?”
Rainbow helps you to your feet as she talks “Yep, I think he’s had enough for today.” She slaps you on your back as she finishes her comment. The slap wasn’t hard but your body is weak from everything you have done today.
Spike gives a laugh at how weak you are, “You know if you were as tough as me you could work out like that all day.” Spike tries to flex his tiny arms; you watch as he flexes and continues his stupid comments.
Rainbow picks up on some of his comments “You know Spike if you want I could train you to be awesome to.”
Spike rubs his neck and nervously thinks of an excuse “Oh no that…” Spike’s excuse is cut off as he holds his stomach and looks like he is about to throw up. Spike lets out a belching sound and a burst of green flames and a letter falls to the ground. Twilight hooves the letter to herself and looks it over, you can tell it must had said something important because she didn’t read it out loud and she didn’t smile like she always does when she gets a letter from the Princess.
Rainbow is the first to ask “Well Twilight what’s it say?”
Twilight folds the letter “Oh nothing important, the Princess just needs to see me in Canterlot tomorrow.”
You look at Rainbow and you both share the same dumbfounded expression, but she is again the first to talk “OK? That’s really sudden you know what it’s for?”
Twilight replies quickly “Nope.”
Twilight poofs the letter away “It can’t be anything important otherwise she would want all six of us to go.”
Rainbow’s voice gets its normal excited high pitched tone as she makes a smashing motion with her hooves “OH man we should totally have another adventure!”
For the next few hours you four sit around and you listen to past adventures they have had. You have always known Twilight was part of some helement of armory or something like that, you don’t really know what the elements are but from there stories it seems to be some kind of superpower thing. You feel yourself starting to get tired as you continue to listen to their stories. You get up from the table and start to head to the stairs.
Rainbow calls out to you as you walk away “Oh sorry human, are these stories boring you?”
You yawn as you reply “No, I’m just tired.”
Twilight calls out to you now “But you didn’t even eat anything?”
You bob your head at her comment to tired to think of words.
“Oh well good night?” you reply to her with a good night and head up the stairs.
As you walk up the stairs you’re kind of glad one of the things Rainbow had you do was run up and down stairs, it is a lot easier this time because you don’t have a cyan pegasus blowing a whistle in your ear.
As you near your bed you feel your body starting to tighten up, you don’t know too much about a pony body but if it’s anything like a human body you are going to be sore in the morning. With that thought in mind you moan loudly and pull the bed back with your mouth. As you climb into the bed you stare at your hooves…it’s still confusing to you that these things are now yours. You stare at them for a few minutes before you rest your head back on the pillow. You mind races with questions you forgot to ask Twilight most are questions that you know she can’t really answer but it would had made you felt better to ask anyways. You go to sleep with your mind still racing but even with thoughts running in your mind, your mind feels very clear.
You awake to the subtle movement of the bed. You focus your eyes in the dark of the room on the moving figure.
“Sorry didn’t mean to wake you.”
You watch as Twilight climbs into the bed beside you. “Just go back to sleep, sorry, good night.”
You lay awake for a few minutes just staring at her, she’s not facing you so you slowly move your arm to her back and start to move it slowly up and down.
Your smile you had is slightly replaced with a frown as you continue to move it up and down. The feel from your hoof is to alien from the feel you got from when you would do this with your hand. After a few minutes you stop and stare at your hoof; you whisper a few words “what am I?”
Twilight turns to face you, her purple eyes still sparkle in the moonlight like they always have, but even this is not enough to bring your smile back. You move your hoof to her head and try to run her ear like you always have done…but you can’t do it without fingers.
Twilight’s voice is low as she talks “Are you ok?”
You swallow back a sad tone before you speak “I just feel so different…..it….this is different.”
Twilight stops your hoof from rubbing her head and brings it in front of her face. She moves her hooves around yours for a few moments.
The feeling is different but you can still feel the warmth of her fur as she rubs your hoof. Twilight stops and looks at you. She stares at you for a few moments in silent before she speaks.
“I would rather different than nothing.”
You think about her words for a few seconds and you don’t know how to reply. You finally say
something that sums up how you feel “Maybe…”
Twilight gives a sweet smile and slowly pulls you closer with her hooves.
