Roller Meets Dust

by MostFaithfulDemonSlayer

"Leaving so soon, Dear Sister of mine?"

Two siblings. One, a mare, who sole goal in life was to join the Wonderbolts...
One a colt, older than the mare, whose destiny is granted to him by an accident...

For so long, Lightning Dust thought her brother had died in the weather accident at Everfree Forest. For years, she sworn on his name that she'll fulfill the nickname he gave her, "Green Spitfire", and become a member of the Wonderbolts. The following fanfiction takes place as Lightning Dust is escorted out after the events of 'Wonderbolts Academy' take place...

Her escorts left her alone in front of the gates that would not only be the exit to the academy, but the exit to her potential future and an entrance to a life of solitude and shame. The turquoise mare walked out of the gates, ashamed. She didn't mean to hurt anyone, especially at the cost of losing the trust of a good friend whose so much like her...
...Rainbow Dash...
She shed a tear, looking back at the academy.
Why was I so blinded by my actions? Stupid Lightning Dust! This is what you get! This is what you deserve for bringing harm to your fellow Pegasi! Your brother's long gone, and now your dream has been stripped from you! Good going, featherbrain!

She galloped out of the gate, no longer able to handle the heartbreak. Her sniffling echoed into the skies, her eyes blinded by the pouring tears. She proceeded to lift her wings, ready to fly out of this place, so her misery can be handled at home.

"Leaving so soon, dear sister of mine?"

Lightning Dust froze, stricken by the voice behind her. She turned, unsure if it was her broken heart playing tricks with her, or whether he was really there. She wiped the tears from her eyes, and gazed upon the colt before her.
The colt stood there, donned with a collared shirt, light reddish brown fur, eyes like rubies, thick rimmed glasses, his red-black shortcut mane, and the cutie mark...unmistakeable from a distance. The dark lightning bolt across the eye...

"Big brother?"

  The colt nodded.

"Yes, dearest sister. It is I, your brother."

He then walked towards the mare, and embraced her in a hug. The mare started to cry again.

"Where have you been, Roller? We all thought..." she said between tears.

"I know, Dustie...I know that everypony thought I died in that forest, I know..."   he said solemnly to the mare in his arms..

Lightning Dust's sadness turned to anger. She pushed the colt from the embrace, knocking him to the soft, cloud ground.

She stared at the colt and yelled, "WHERE IN TARTARUS HAVE YOU BEEN?! DON'T YOU REALIZE HOW DEEPLY SADDENED EVERYONE BACK IN FLIGHT SCHOOL WAS WHEN THE ANNOUNCEMENT THAT OUR MOST TALENTED ARTIST--MY BROTHER--WAS DEAD BY SOME FREAK WEATHER ACCIDENT?!"

She started crying again, her tears stinging her now bloodshot eyes.

"WE COULDN'T FIND YOUR BODY FOR THE FUNERAL; YOU KNOW HOW TORN APART WE WERE, ROLLER?! DO YOU?!"

The colt got up, looked at his enraged sister, and sighed.   "Dustie...it wasn't my fault. I--I had to keep the illusion I was dead."

"WHAT COULD POSSIBLY BE THE REASON TO JUSTIFY YOUR FAKE DEATH?!" the golden maned pony yelled through the tears. Here she was, yelling at her long lost brother, and her brother not seeming to react.   "You left me without a family, Roller. You left your 'dear sister' with no love left in this world..."

She took out a Spitfire plushie.

"You gave this to me on my 12th birthday, remember? You called me the Green Spitfire. Because of you, here I am,standing at the Wonderbolts Academy, hoping to Celestia that I couldve made something out of myself...now that dream is crushed."

She dropped the Spitfire plushie on the ground, and wiped her eyes.

"Now...what could possibly posess you to be gone for so long?" she stared at Lightning Roller, waiting for a response from her long lost sibling.

"My destiny, Dustie." Lightning Roller stated in a stern, yet calm, voice.

Lightning Dust looked at him in confusion.   What did he mean by destiny?

She neednt wait for an answer. With a flash, a streak of red lightning struck the ground in between the two siblings. In it appeared a sword, black hilt with a lightning shaped gemstone, blade as silver as Luna's Moon, along with a scroll with the Royal Crest on the ribbon.

Lightning Roller sighed, and picked up the scroll. He read it silently.

As he read, Lightning Dust tried to form a question, "Wha...h--how did...?"

Before she could fully ask, Roller closed the scroll.

"Celestia has called me to her castle, dear sister. A Slenderpony has been stalking the forest near Ponyville. Hope to the Princesses it hasn't taken innocent lives."  Roller said to her sister, acting as if the argument never happened.

"Roller...wh--what...are you?" Lightning Dust asked her brother, with intriguing curiosity.

He hugged her before opening his wings, the enchanted sword strapped to his back. "I'm Her Majesty's Most Faithful Demon Slayer." he told her before flying off into the now setting sun.

Lightning Dust watched as her brother flew off into the sunset.

So, he's been protecting Equestria from the monsters that even Rainbow Dash and her friends cant fight...that's where he's been.

She flew towards home, no longer hearbroken about the loss of her Wonderbolt dream.

Maybe knowing that not only he is alive, but is watching over his 'dear sister' and all of Equestrian kind, is all I need. Lightning Roller...I know I won't see you again for a while, but to me, you're my most faithful brother...
