//------------------------------// // Epilogue // Story: Knights of Haysead // by Kaiser Perminente //------------------------------// -Knights of Haysead: Epilogue It was over. Soon after Silent Step and the Royal Guard rescued Rainbow Dash and Big McIntosh, Sepulchre died from his injuries. He was cremated and his ashes brought back to the Khazae, as was tradition. As for the rest of the dead, there was a requiem held in the Haysead Swamp, to which Rainbow Dash, Twilight Sparkle and their friends were invited. Silent Step never returned to Ponyville. That town just held too many painful memories, despite his victory in the end. He ended up winning a number of medals for gallantry from both the Khazae and the Royal Guard, but he had them all buried with his sister. He continued rising in the ranks until reaching leader of the Khazae in his old age. Aquila Umbra won many of the same awards as Silent Step. He was also invited to join the Royal Guard as a Second Lieutenant, but denied. He never showed up to the funeral and, officially, went missing. Only five ponies knew where he was at any time, Silent Step, Princess Celestia, Princess Luna, Admissarius Rex, and Rainbow Dash. He stayed under the radar, living in the White Tail Woods for the rest of his life. He died young. With their existence and loyalty exposed, the Khazae went back to being the secret police force for the Princesses. Admissarius Rex assumed the role as Princess Celestia’s personal body guard. He thwarted a total of nine other assassination attempts before retiring to tend to a back injury which obtained while chasing after one of Sepulchre’s successors. Rainbow Dash never forgot Silent Step. Her experience with the Khazae had completely changed her life. She became completely claustrophobic and never forgot to lock her door at night. She was heart-broken when Silent Step refused to visit Ponyville. So instead, she decided to visit him. She ended up getting herself lost in the Haysead Swamps. A Khazae member found her and brought her to Silent Step. That was the last time she ever saw him. The Khazae left a mark on Ponyville that would take a very long time to fade. The Curio Shoppe became an off-road attraction for historians. The Mayor even considered setting up a tour of the locations at which important events of Khazae’s story took place, but ultimately decided against it. Even without it, the tourism of Ponyville increased somewhat. Yes indeed, the town was forever changed by these catalysts, The Knights of Haysead. Well, ladies and gentlecolts, that about sums it up. I hope you all enjoyed the story. One last set of shout outs before I leave to work on my next masterpiece. Thanks to Yoonicorn and space_pony for being my fabulous editing team, couldn't have done it without you guys. Also, thanks to rainbow87dash, for being my first loyal stalker throughout the course of the story, and for keeping my hopes up in the darkest of times! I will be putting a blog post with some "Behind the Story" info, if you want to check it out, there's actually a very interesting story behind the conception of "Knights of Haysead," but I'll save the details for the blog. Thanks again for reading! Kaiser P, out!
