Second Great Time War

The Last Regeneration

This is your last, Doc-tor The Dalek screeched as it towered over The Doctor, who was struggling to get away. I, Dalek Sec, will be the only Dalek able to exterminate The Doctor!. It raised its laser gun and levelled it at The Doctor's chest, where his two hearts thudded in his chest. The Dalek cackled as the blast echoed long in The Doctor's ears, even long after he'd gone.

The Doctor felt pain erupt in his chest. He groaned in pain and writhed. He knew this was his last body, no more lives left. He closed his eyes and, seeing that the Dalek had left, crawled over to his TARDIS. He had no energy to snap, so he just slapped his palm on the metal floor of the Dalek spaceship.

The doors opened with a slight squeak and The Doctor fell inside. It was getting harder and harder to breathe. He pulled himself up on the console and flicked a switch that sent the large groaning of the TARDIS ringing about.

"This is it, old girl" The Doctor whispered to his ship. All that answered was the groaning of the TARDIS. "Enable... voice interface... and give me someone I like.. give me River" he said. In response, his wife, River Song, flickered into view.

"Oh, sweetie. You know not to go gallivanting about with Daleks" River said jokingly, though her voice was filled with sorrow.

"I want you to take the TARDIS someplace safe. Someplace that it won't be disturbed. I don't want the Daleks finding her."

"I'm going to miss you, sweetie" River whispered and blew him a kiss, then flickered out.

The Doctor looked at his hands. They were glowing yellow, like most of his previous Huon particles had looked like. He sighed, whispered goodbye to the TARDIS, then gave in. He exploded in a fiery burst of gold, and he blacked out, something he hadn't experienced while regenerating.

Near the town of Ponyville, a blue police box forced its way into existence. Once the groaning had stopped, it stood there, nopony disturbing it. But one pony did see it. Rainbow Dash, a cyan pony with a rainbow mane, was zooming in the sky right over the police box. He stopped and flew back, staring at the box. She dropped down in front of it and checked it out. She stepped back when the doors suddenly opened, but nothing came out.

Rainbow Dash poked her head in, the inside pitch black. She was unable to see anything. She shrugged and stepped out. She turned around, then a voice rang out behind her.

"Hello. Um.. where exactly am I?" Asked somepony as Rainbow whirled around. In the doorway, she saw a tan pony with a darker brown mane. She watched as the pony came out, showing that his cutie mark was an hourglass.

"Equestria" Rainbow said, too stunned to say anything else. She managed to get out, "Who are you?"

"Why me? My name's The Doctor" he said, smiling.

"Doctor Who?" She asked, regaining her voice. "Are you a medical Doctor? Then why is your cutie mark an hourglass?"

"No, no no no. Just The Doctor. Not a profession, just my name. Now, what's yours?" The pony called The Doctor said.

"Obviously you're not from around here. My name's Rainbow Dash, the fastest pony in Equestria." She puffed out her chest and spread her wings.

"Marvellous. Ooh, I like that. Marvellous. Now wait.. where was I? Oh yeah. A talking, cyan pegasus, standing here in front of me! Who ever knew. Well, I did, considering that I met Peruses. But anyway, Rainbow Dash, I've wanted to ask this for quite a while, but..." he smiled. "What do I look like?"

"Umm..." Rainbow was stunned. "Brown, I guess."

"Brown? I- Oh..." The Doctor said, looking down at himself. He lifted a hoof. "I seem to have regenerated into an equine form. Pony, did you say? Anyway, I like this new form, quite odd to get used to, though. I can probably manage. Now, can you take me to the nearest town?" He asked Rainbow Dash, who was staring at him quizzically.

"S... sure" she said and turned around. "Follow me, and you'll have to keep up, I won't wait for you."

The Doctor nodded and started after Rainbow. He stumbled a bit, not used to being a quadruped. Soon, he got used to it and kept up with Rainbow. he was constantly looking around, enjoying the surroundings.

"So, if I'm a.. pony.. then I'm guessing there are more, probably ones with distinguishing colours like you, and with these strange marks on our rumps. Yours looks like a... is that a rainbow lightning bolt? Quite odd, but so is an hourglass, I guess. But what confuses me is why I regenerated for a thirteenth time. I should only have twelve. And I usually don't change forms that closely resemble Time Lords. But I still have my hears, and my brain, so-"

"Shut UP!" Rainbow shouted. "I don't even know what you're talking about!" She grumbled. "I don't know why I'm even showing you to Ponyville. If I was in my right mind, I'd leave you here to be lost." she said and was silent after that.

The Doctor looked down at his hooves, his face blushing. "Sorry." he said. Rainbow glared at him with hard eyes, then looked up. "Ponyville is just up ahead. Don't think you'll be getting any more help from me, Doctor." She said and lept into the air and flew off.

The Doctor stopped and watched her fly away.He looked enviously at his back. Oh, how he wanted wings. They would be quite useful. He sighed and continued on.

Soon Ponyville came into sight. He spotted some ponies flying around the city, some trotting, some using (were those horns?) to levitate objects. He took in the beautiful sight of the city.

"Well, I'm ready to go." He shook his head and entered Ponyville.
