Friendship is tough

Bad School Day

(First of all, I want to thak all of you for reading my first chapter, and waiting to read this one. I also want to thank Therizzen and Skwoogle for editing my chapter, you guys were very helpful and awsome. Beaware, there is swearing in this. And now, please read on.)

Dreams I usually have are about My Little Pony, so I was not surprised that tonight I was having a dream about it. But this was different. It was more scattered, like only parts of a movie were working and you have no idea what was happening. I saw the main six, and it looked like they were all staring at something, but I couldn't see who or what it was. Suddenly, a blinding light appeared behind them. I blinked, and I was back in my room.

It was morning, about 7:30am (My alarm went off and is now pissing me off). Friday mornings were the worst for me, never could wait for the end of the school day, thus making it longer. I turned off my alarm, slowly got out of bed, and stretched. I was blinking hard, trying to get a less blurred vision. I walked out of my room and went straight into the bathroom to brush my teeth. (What’s that? You don’t want to know my morning schedule? Fine be like that). After I got dressed and all that other stuff, I was going to the kitchen to grab something to eat, when I was stopped.

"What was that annoying ringing sound?!"

Twilight looked like she had just gotten up. Her hair was a rat’s nest, her eyes were half opened, and she was leaning against her bedroom door so she wouldn’t fall to the ground. I smiled, not only because it was kind of funny to see her like this, but also because of the fact that I wasn’t dreaming about yesterday.

"Sorry, that was my alarm. If you’re still serious about coming with me to school, you better get ready then."

She looked like she would punch me out, but instead she grumbled something about it being too early and went back into her room.

A little while later she went downstairs and saw me waiting by the front door. She changed from her last outfit (which was a purple dress) into a purple blouse and black jeans. I was confused as to where she got that outfit, maybe it was inside her bag. I also wondered how they fit a human, and why they were purple. I took that out of my head, too many questions.

"I was two seconds from going upstairs to see what was taking you so long," I said, cracking a smile.

"Ha-ha lets go already."

- - -

We were half way to school and we were both walking in silence. I had never walked to school with someone else before, and she had never walked with a human before. A few more feet and one of us finally spoke.

"So Seethe, why were you so sad when I asked about your friends?"

I was hoping to avoid this conversation, but she was going to find out anyways.

"Um...Twilight, I was like that because...I don’t have any."

She looked at me with a concern, and that made me feel bad.

"You don’t have any friends? How is that possible? Are you nervous or something?"

"It’s more complicated than that...people say I’m a freak, that I’m really different from others and it bugs them. No one ever goes near me, and the ones that do usually bully me."

She put her hand on my shoulder. "That’s horrible, what about your family, don’t they help you?"

"They left for the same reason."

The look in her eyes told me she understood why I was so upset over my family and friends yesterday.

"I’m so sorry to hear that. It must be hard for you living like this," she said in a sad tone. You have no idea, I said in my head.

"Well, it was troubling for a while. Thinking about it now, I realize that I wouldn’t be who I am if I wasn’t in this situation. I mean, I’d be another jerk you met instead of trying to help you out."
She smiled. It never felt so good talking about my problems before, especially to someone who listened and felt bad for me. I looked ahead.

"Here we are William High School, where people you'll meet are not as nice as they say they are."

She laughed for a bit, and then looked at the school. "I hope one of my friends is here."

I looked back at her. She looked really worried, and I understood why. When she first came into this world she met some very nasty people, and this school is filled with them.

I patted her head. "C'mon Twi, you’r going to see them again. I’m sure they are fine."
She nodded but still looked worried. "We better get going," I said. "Schools going to start soon."

- - -

Now about my school. It’s almost like every other high schools, except with one major difference. Kids should go to class, but if they skip, there are no penalties as long as they stay within school grounds, and don’t hurt each other. I never really 'skipped' class, but today I was going to for Twilight’s sake. Unfortunately, that means me meeting all the bullies early today. In the hallways it was packed with students. We barley had enough room to squeeze through the crowds. We finally got in a Hallway that had next to no one in it. It might seem strange to some that one is packed while the other is empty, but some kids like certain areas I guess. When we were alone I looked at Twilight. She was on the verge of panicking. Multiple times I had to grab her arm so I wouldn’t lose her in the crowds, and a couple other times I had to pull her close when kids were running by.

"You’re alright Twilight, just shaken up. This school does that when you first enter."

"It’s so crazy in here, I can’t understand how people get from place to place without getting hurt."

"Trust me, they do get hurt." I noticed something with Twilight that I never really considered before.

"Hey, what happened to your horn?"

She instinctively reached for her head, and felt around, like she just noticed it was gone.

"What? My horn is gone?! I don’t understand what-!” She looked at me, and I felt like I said something I shouldn’t have said.

"Wait, how did you know I had a horn?"

Damn, how could I have been so stupid and say that! I can’t say that I know from that T.V. show, she will think I’m crazy! But what else do I say, there is no recovery from something like that! Luckily (or unluckily in my case) I ran into the worst bully of them all, Steve. You remember him right? The guy that pretended to be my friend and then he turned on me? After that, he gained so much popularity points that he is now what everyone calls 'Mr. Cool kid'. I walked right into him.

"Oh, sorry," I said, trying to get around. He grabbed my arm and pulled me back in front of him.

"Well look who it is? And he’s skipping class today to. You probably think you’re cool now, huh?"

I rolled my eyes. "Yeah, nice seeing you too Steve."

Steve was at least a foot taller than me, so I had to look up at him. He had Black spiked hair and dark blue eyes. He had this permanent smirk on his face that always creeped me out. None of the other guys at school bully me as much as this guy. If he gets a chance to do something bad, he'll do it, even if he gets in trouble. He looked down at me.

"Be ready for gyms today, we’re doing laps around the football field, and I’ll make sure you fall on your face."

I stared back. Running was never a problem for me since I’ve gotten faster at running away. Before he left he noticed Twilight standing behind me. He gave her a deformed smile which he thought was friendly I guess, but it only looked creepier.

"Who is this?" He stepped towards her, probably to get a better look at her, but I stayed in front of him, holding my arms out in front of Twilight.

"Ha, look at you trying to protect your little friend here. “

I would never challenge him to a fight, he would kill me. But imagining him trying to bully, or in fact hurt Twilight got my blood pumping.

"You leave her alone," I said in a voice that didn’t sound like me at all. That was a mistake. He punched me right in the side of the head. Then he grabbed me while I was disoriented and walked me towards a locker.

"Ah crap," I said.

I tried to pull away, but his grip was like iron, and he wouldn’t let go. He opened a locker, threw me into it and then shut it in my face, causing another injury.

"See you at gym freak!" He walked off laughing.

Through the openings of the locker I saw Twilight. She looked worried, like I was dead or something.

"Seethe? Hey Seethe?"

"Yeah, I’m ok...just bleeding a bit." She opened the locker and held out her hand to help me out.

"Thanks, but I’ll be ok." I wiggled my way out and then felt my cheek, defiantly bruised. My nose was now bleeding from the locker door.

"Well Twilight, you just met Steve the enforcer. Make sure you stay away from him."

She tried to smile, but she kept looking at my nose.

"Yeah I should go clean this up now." Before we left, we both jumped when a voice came out of the locker beside the one I was in.

"Um, hello? Is someone out there?"

When we calmed down, we looked at each other. After our silent argument of 'you open it, no you open it' I decided to open the locker, only to see a girl fall out of it, hitting the floor.

"Aw crap, I’m so sorry." I tired to help her up, but she moved away from me, as if she was afraid of me.

"Hey, whats wrong?" She wouldn’t answer me; she just looked at me, terrified.

Twilight widened her eyes.

"Fluttershy?"

The girl looked at Twilight and her terror turned into relief.

"Twilight!" She jumped at Twilight, giving her a huge hug. "Twilight, thank Celestia you found me, I was so worried no one would find me in that...metal box."

I looked at Fluttershy; she had that familiar pink hair that went down one side of her head, eyes that seemed to emanate kindness, and had earrings the same shape of her cutie mark, three butterflies. After Fluttershy gave room for her to breath, Twilight spoke.

"Fluttershy, I’m so glad you’re ok! I was really worried about you."

"Yes, it was pretty scary, especially when all these ponies are teasing me. They put me in that box and I was so scared."

“How did you get here?” Twilight asked

“I was following some birds that I thought were helping me, but they were going back to their nest on top of the school. I was trying to get their attention, but then some ponies came and started teasing me. They were calling me names, and before I knew it, they put me in that box.”

It occurred to me that she was calling people ‘ponies’. I guess they are use to their way of talking.

"Did you see any of the others?" Twilight said, looking really exited.

"No, I mostly stayed in the park, where the animals were. They weren’t as nice as Angel or any of the other animals back in Ponyville."

Twilight looked disappointed. She was probably hoping to find her friends all together. I moved towards her.

"Twilight, don’t worry, we'll find the others soon."

Fluttershy seemed to remember me and hid behind Twilight.

"Fluttershy, it’s ok this is Seethe, he’s trying to help me find everyone," Twilight said as she was pushing Fluttershy towards me. She looked like she would pass out from terror, but for Twilight's sake she tried to act brave.

"Um...h-hi I’m Fl-Fluttershy..." she said it so quietly I could barley hear her.

"Hi Fluttershy, as Twilight said I’m Seethe." I put out my hand to shake hands, but I guess she thought I was going to hit her because she cringed.

"Seethe, before you try to be friendly with her, maybe you should wash your face," Twilight said, smiling. Remembering the blood I nodded.

"Right."

In the boys bathroom I was washing the blood off my face. "Man, Steve will be the end of me," I said to myself. This isn’t the worst injury I got from him. The worst was probably when we were wrestling in gym, and he broke my arm when he 'accidentally' twisted it behind me. For some reason the teachers didn’t yell at him too much, and they sent me down to the office for the rest of the day. I looked at myself in the mirror, bruised cheek, bloody nose, dying inside. I turned to walk out and I bumped into another kid. I guess he was new because I never saw him before, and he actually talked to me.

"Sorry, didn’t mean to- just need to-" He quickly left for the nearest stall, and that gave me enough notice to leave fast. When I walked out, Twilight and Fluttershy were gone.

"You've got to be kidding me, where the hell did they go?"

Before I got the chance to go and look, I was grabbed from behind and hauled off. "Its second period Seethe, gym time!" Steve said. Of all the times that this could happen, this was the worst. I had no time to go and play 'run-for-my-life-from-the-maniac' but it looked like I had no choice. I looked at Steve with so much rage I wanted to hit him, even if it meant me dying a second later.

Outside, where the football field was, our class was ready for the stupidest race ever. Our gym teacher set up the races. Four kids racing each other at a time. Unfortunately, Steve acted like the ‘little angel’ that the was and got me and him racing together. As the last of the other guys crossed the finish line, it was our turn.

"Ok good race. Now I want Steve-" A loud cheer came from the other kids. See what I mean by 'Mr. Cool kid'?

"Alright calm down, I also want Seethe-" Now you can guess that I got the same reaction right? Wrong. The complete opposite. I took no care to it, I was used to it by now.

"Calm down I said! Third I want Sid..." It was the kid I bumped into in the bathroom. He had black hair, with a steak of grey in it, like stress was getting to him. He stood there looking cheerful, like this would be the best race ever.

"And last I want...." He looked at his list of students.

"Not a male, lets change it up with a female.... Clair...no, Samantha...no, Rebecca...ok, Rebecca your up." She had a toque on her head, covering her hair, but I saw a tuft of blonde sticking out. She had brown eyes like mine. She saw me looking at her and she glared at me.

"Ok lets have a nice race here, no cutting each other off, no hitting each other, and for goodness sake no throwing rocks at each other."

We all got ready on the race track. From left to right it was Sid, Steve, Me, and Rebecca. The only one that looked happy was Sid. I found it funny, but I had to keep my eyes on Steve, I knew he had something nasty up his sleeve. I looked over at Rebecca and she kept looking at me, like I was something she stepped on that stuck to her shoe. I glared back, if anything I would not lose to a girl.

I wasn’t paying attention because when the teacher said go, I was the last to leave the starting line. Steve tried to stay with me, to do his evil plan. Sid was trying to keep an even speed, just acting so happy. Rebecca was ahead, no one to challenge her. I looked at Steve who was now inching himself a little closer to me. I was trying to keep my distance. He started shoving me, trying to trip me, doing everything he could to make me fall. I looked over at the teacher, who was telling some other students something. Great time to not watch the race!

I looked up ahead, Sid was slowing down, I guess he got tired. Rebecca was still a few meters ahead, if I got past Steve I could catch up to her. Fortunately I didn’t have to do anything, on the first turn, Steve wasn’t watching the track so he collided into Sid and they both crashed off the course. I waved at Steve.

"See yeah!"

He gave me a look that said “I’m going to kill you!”. I put on a burst of speed, catching up to Rebecca with no problem. She looked at me, surprised at first, then angry.

"How did you catch up so fast?" she asked.

I pointed to where Sid and Steve crashed.

"You guys are so stupid...Don’t think I’m letting you beat me!" She started to get ahead.

"I don’t think so!" I stayed even with her. She was pretty fast and I was surprised I started to lose my breath. I saw that she was too, we were on even ground. I looked back to see if Steve would catch up. I didn’t expect him to be right on my tail. He looked mad, and I didn’t want to be near him when he was mad. Rebecca looked at me, and then followed my line of sight.

“He a friend of yours?” she asked.

“No, he’s actually like my worst enemy.”

“Seethe! I’m going to kill you!” I heard him yell at me.

“Is he always like that?” Rebecca said, sounding a bit worried.

“Less talking, more running!” I blurted out.

We were pretty fast, and I was surprised. As tired as we were, we both didn’t want to have Steve catch up. Unfortunately, he was faster. He was right behind me, and he reached his hand out to grab me. But he almost slipped on something, and his hand went towards Rebecca’s toque. He ripped it off, and I saw a bunch of colors in the corner of my eye. When I looked, I saw that Rebecca had rainbow colored hair. Instantly I realized who she was (I mean its not that hard, right?). Rainbow Dash.

- - -

I was amazed. Dash was my favorite of the six, so I was probably in awe for a few minutes before remembering I was trying to get away from Steve. But I couldn’t stop looking, the hair was too distracting. I looked back, and immediately my awe struck state disappeared. She had fear in her eyes. I suddenly realized why she kept her hair covered. She stuck out too much, and I was willing to bet she was teased for it. She started to lose speed, and Steve now had a new target to go after. I knew this wouldn’t end well. She was tough, but Steve would not go easy on her because she was a girl. Blood was roaring in my ears, I didn’t want that to happen. I stopped and collided into Steve.

Steve was hitting me for a good minute, pounding his fist into my head, chest and arms, anything he could hit. I fought back, I kicked him in the head, and even punched him in the gut a few times, but he was pretty strong. Finally the teacher came and separated us. Steve didn’t look that bad except for the bloody chin. I had another bloody nose, but surprisingly I got out of that with only a few bruises.

“Ok you two, this has gone on for two years! You guys have to stop this!” The teacher said, trying to keep us apart.

“He started it!” Steve said.

“Bull shit!” I yelled back.

“Hey!” The teacher said to me. “Seethe, you’ve got to stop this.”

I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. All this time I’ve been trying to get this guy to watch Steve bully me, and now he’s accusing me of causing everything that’s happened for the past two years?!

“I’m not doing this!” I yelled back. “I didn’t do anything! You’re just going to believe him because you trust him more?!”

“Of course I trust him more! I saw you collide into him Seethe!”

He got me, of all the times he had to look. I saw Steve grinning his face off behind him. Two years, two years of this crap and now I’m getting pegged as the problem.

“I want you to apologies to Steve, Seethe.” The teacher said in a very calm voice.

I was going to just say no and walk off, but I was not expecting someone to defend me.

“Seethe only did that because Steve was trying to attack me.” Rainbow Dash came beside me. I didn’t know whether to be surprised that she was trying to defend me, or upset that I got her into this. It looked like she took something out of her eyes or something, because they were magenta again.

“You stay out of this you Fr-….girl!” I heard Steve say. He picked his words carefully so he didn’t get the teacher upset with him.

“I’m pretty sure Seethe wouldn’t do that on purpose, and I heard you say you were going to kill him.”

The teacher looked at her. He was distracted by her hair. “Rebecca, did he really say that?” She nodded.

He grabbed Steve’s arm. “Looks like we’re going to have a talk.”

Steve was pissed, but he followed the teacher back into the school. After that, the bell rang, second period was over. Everyone was leaving, either going to their next class or more likely trying to get an early lunch. The sound of the bell made something inside me click, because I fell straight to the ground, exhausted.

“Hey, are you ok?” Rainbow Dash said as she knelt down beside me.

“Considering that was the first time I actually tried to fight Steve, pretty good,” I said. I got to my feet again, and tried to step forward, but I guess I was still exhausted because I almost tripped. Thankfully Rainbow Dash helped me up.

“You took a bad beating…” she said, trying to sound sympathetic. She grabbed my arm and put it over her shoulders.

“Thanks. Hey tell me something, where did you get those contacts? ” I said, as we were heading towards the school.

“After I was teased by my eyes, I saw this woman who gave me them. She didn’t say much, just handed them to me and said, have a nice day….pretty weird, huh?”

“Yeah, you should tell Twilight that,” I said jokingly.

“Twilight! You know where she is?” She was so exited she dropped me.

“Ow!” I groaned

She gasped. “Sorry about that. Wait, how do you know Twilight? How do you know that I know Twilight?”

“It’s a long story. Let’s just say that she needed my help and she told me your name.”

“Lets say that I believe you, where is she now?”

I looked up at her. “Well… I don’t know, she disappeared.”

She looked sad. I felt bad for her, even though she dropped me. I was thinking hard, where would a really shy person and a book worm…..

“Book worm!” I tried to get up again with Dash’s help.

“You know where she is?” She sounded a bit happy, like I had just given her some hope.

“I have an idea. It’s a hunch, but I’m going to guess that Twilight found her way to the library.”

Rainbow Dash looked surprised. “You guys have those here?”

“Yeah, we’re a school, its kind of mandatory. That is the most likely place she will be.” I sounded so sure I surprised myself. Maybe it was because I might’ve had a concussion or something.

“What are we waiting for? Let’s get going!” She started to move forward.

I tried to follow, but it was difficult. “Wait! I’m still a little uneven here!” I fell over again. “RAINBOW DASH WAIT!”

She jogged back laughing. “Need some help?”

“Shut up and help me!”
