DRAMATIS PERSONAE
FRIESDEN, also known as DIZZY - A ten year old zony pegasus mare. Her dam was OCEAN BREEZE and her sire was an UNKNOWN ZEBRA STALLION. OCEAN BREEZE abandoned her. She was first adopted by GLYPH and KAT (some records add STILETTO to this group). When GLYPH and STILETTO left Dawnpick, Dizzy was left behind, and was adopted properly by FAUCHARD. Is currently in a relationship with FALCHION. Has a cutie mark of two crossed tusks, which she received after creating a legendary grate out of bone. Her coat is amber with black stripes.
FLUX - An earth pony of one hundred and twenty-eight years, whose looks belie his years. His cutie mark is a crucible. He is married to KAT. He has an orange coat, and his mane is striped orange.
STILETTO - An alicorn mare with a purple coat and a light purple mane. One of the Deutschmeiner. Killed by an entity known as a forgotten beast. During her time in Dawnpick, she took on several lovers, including FLUX, KAT, and GLYPH. Some records suggest Stiletto cared for FRIESDEN while she was at the fort. Her cutie mark, and her age, is unknown.
KAT - A pegasus mare with a grey coat and black mane. The Captain of the Guard of Dawnpick. Sister of KIT, mother-figure to FRIESDEN, and married to FLUX. Her cutie mark is two crossed sheathed katanas. She is thirty-four years old.
KIT - A pegasus mare with a grey coat and black mane. Wife of FAUCHARD, mother-figure to FRIESDEN, sister of KAT. Her cutie mark is a jasmine flower. She is twenty-eight years old. When KAT left their family's home and travelled to Dawnpick, Kit followed her. Though FLUX pursued her romantically for a time, when FRIESDEN set her and FAUCHARD up, love quickly blossomed. Their marriage was conducted shortly before they left Dawnpick. She is current pregnant with their first foal.
GLAIVE - A unicorn stallion with a light brown coat and dark brown mane. FALCATA's husband, son of FAUCHARD, and father of FALCHION, BALISONG and HATCHET, brother of FRIESDEN by her adoption. Thirty-eight years of age. Has a cutie mark of two crossed axes behind a shield. Was one of the first to speak out against STILETTO and never made more than a grudging peace with her. Helped run the stable at Dawnpick. A militia pony in Dawnpick, but has been recruited by the King as a Royal Guard after a stretch as VIRTUE's personal guard.
FAUCHARD - A unicorn stallion with a light brown coat and a graying dark brown mane. His cutie mark is an axe. He is one hundred and fifteen years old, and served in the Zebra Wars. He is the adoptive father of FRIESDEN, the sire of GLAIVE, the grandfather of FALCHION and BALISONG, father-in-law of FALCATA. He has begun tutoring FRIESDEN in the way of the warrior.
FALCATA - A pegasus mare with a white coat and red mane. Her cutie mark is a sword. She is twenty-seven years old. She is married to GLAIVE, daughter-in-law of FAUCHARD, sister-in-law to FRIESDEN, and mother of FALCHION, BALISONG, and HATCHET, and daughter of CIRRA and ZWEIHANDER. She was a guardpony in Coupledye, before moving to Dawnpick due to a lack of action.
FALCHION - An alicorn colt with an orange coat and a vibrant yellow mane. He has no cutie mark yet. He is six years old. He is the son of FALCATA and GLAIVE and brother of HATCHET and BALISONG. He is in a relationship with FRIESDEN, and his grandfather is FAUCHARD. He is usually boisterous and carefree.
BALISONG - An alicorn filly with a beige coat and a striped mane of blue, dark indigo, and fuchsia. Her cutie mark is a G-clef. She is the daughter of FALCATA and GLAIVE, twin sister of FALCHION and sister of HATCHET, her grandfather is FAUCHARD, and she is FRIESDEN's niece.
PERIHELION - A unicorn stallion with a deep carmine coat, navy blue eyes, and dark yellow mane. His cutie mark is a rock revolving around a star. He is twenty years in age.
GLOSSARY OF TERMS
PONY, PONIES - The dominant species of the world. They are composed of four races: the earth ponies, the pegasus ponies, the unicorn ponies, and the alicorn ponies. The earth ponies are known for their strength and durability, the pegasus ponies are winged and able to fly, the unicorn ponies have a horn and are able to cast MAGIC and use telekinesis, and the alicorn ponies have a diminished form of the strengths of all three other races. The alicorns are larger than the other races, and are rarer - a ratio of approximately 300:1 of the other races to the alicorns. PONIES are both unnaturally long-lived, with some reaching the age of five hundred, and reaching adult-hood at six (seven, according to the law in most PONY nations). They have a gestation period of one year, and typically bear single young, with a rare chance of twins. Most PONY nations worship a pantheon of divinities. ZEBRA, ZEBRAS - Another species of the world. The zebras are composed of five races: the aziza zebras, the ibis zebras, the karkadann zebras, the abada zebras, and the rare empress zebra. They were involved in a series of wars with the PONIES. They appear closely related to the PONIES, with some researchers using their ability to interbreed as proof. Unlike PONIES, ZEBRAS usually have GLYPHS rather than CUTIE MARKS. See ZEBRA WARS, PONY, ZONY, GLYPHS, CUTIE MARKS.
DEUTSCHMEINER, DEUTSCHMEINERS - any of a number of small interconnected bandit and race supremacist groups, favouring unicorns and alicorns above other races and species. They are known to rape and slaughter any who refuses to bow to their beliefs, and have a particular vindictive hate towards pegasus ponies. They worship and pray to a pair of alicorn goddesses. MASSACRE AT BLACK CREEK - BLACK CREEK was a small peaceful settlement of earth ponies and pegasus ponies, established in the third year of the reign of Queen Kuletoddom. It was wiped out by a small band of extremist alicorns belonging to the DEUTSCHMEINER. Valiant guardspony Gladius was the only pony who survived the initial attack. TRIAL OF THE DEUTSCHMEINER - After the massacre of the inhabitants of BLACK CREEK, one guardspony, Gladius, was captured by the DEUTSCHMEINER behind the attack. His 'trial' for the crime of killing an alicorn was, of course, quick and merciless. He was buried underground and starved to death. See DEUTSCHMEINER, MASSACRE AT BLACK CREEK.
BLACK CREEK - BLACK CREEK was a small settlement, established in the third year of the reign of Queen Kuletoddom, and having a majority population of earth ponies and pegasus ponies. It was destroyed by the DEUTSCHMEINER. The ruins feature a memorial to the memories of the PONIES killed in the attack. See MASSACRE AT BLACK CREEK, DEUTSCHMEINER.
MEANDERING GLOSS - The MEANDERING GLOSS is a PONY civilisation. It joined the COALITION in the ZEBRA WARS. See PONY, ZEBRA, ZEBRA WARS, COUPLEDYE, COALITION.
ZEBRA WARS - A large conflict between the ZEBRAS and the PONIES. Ended in a victory for the PONIES, as the ZEBRAS sued for peace. See PONY, ZEBRA, COALITION.
ZONY, ZONIES - The result of a ZEBRA and PONY mating. They are typically outcast from both societies, and many die forgotten and alone. Some evidence suggests they have a lowered intelligence. It is not known why some receive CUTIE MARKS and some receive GLYPHS instead. They have a chance of sterility, especially the male of the species. See ZEBRA, PONY.
