//------------------------------// // The History // Story: Command and Conquer: Equestria // by smoers06 //------------------------------// Solar Empire Department of Information Greetings, I am Head Scribe Sparkle, personal student to Princess Celestia and Head of the Department of information. The Princess has given me a daunting task: To give an accurate record of the history that led to the world that we now live in, and the Cold War that has held for the past two Centuries. After several years of looking past all the Propaganda, gathering records of that time, and questioning the Princess herself of what she witnessed in that time. ~~ The Tale begins in the year 1763 AD (After Discord). The Land of Equestria was entering a Golden Age, technology was increasing, medicines were improving, and Princesses Celestia and Luna ruled jointly and benevolently. However, this changed when the humans came They arrived on the East Coast of Equestria on sail boats, claiming they were seeking new lands and resources. Prior to this time, Ponies thought they were the only intelligent species in the world, as they were the only civilization on the Large continent of Equestria and we had never traveled beyond the Ocean at the time. After several correspondence with the travelers, we learned that the humans had no single government, rather they were a mass of independent City-States that each had their own ruling power. Learning this, the Princesses engaged in diplomatic relations with the humans. Borders opened, trade boomed, and the two species experienced a time of unprecedented economic growth. This age of trade continued until 1808, when problems began to build between the two species. It started with simple Piracy. Ships of humans began raiding Equestrian trade routes, targeting crews of Ponies specifically, destroying ships and taking slaves. The Princesses demanded that Humanity put an end to the attacks, but with the lack of any single human government ruling, this became impossible. In response, Equestria began construction on a navy to protect its ships. The problems did not stop there, as groups of human terrorists, bent on making Equestria a territory under the control of humanity, began to cause death and destruction within Equestria. It went from petty theft, to kidnappings, and shootings. The Princesses became very fearful for their subjects, and were forced to begin expanding the Royal Guard dramatically in an attempt to end the attacks. Now tensions between the humans and ponies were at an all time high, a stack of black powder just waiting to be lit. The Spark came in 1813, when during the middle of a speech in Canterlot, a human sharpshooter attempted to assassinate Princess Celestia. At first, everypony assumed it was just another of the many Terrorist attacks, but after an extensive investigation, it was discovered that the assassin was working for one of the many Governments that resided on the Human Mainland. For Celestia, this was the last straw. Luna tried to console her, claiming this could be fixed through diplomacy, but Celestia disagreed. To the Princess of the Sun, this was an act of war. In 1815, Equestria launched an invasion on the Human Mainland without warning. The humans, caught completely off guard, did their best to put up a strong defense, but their unorganized forces were being quickly routed by the Equestrian forces that combined the Magic of their unicorns with the mobility of their Pegasi. To make the situation worse for the humans, the lack of a single Government made it very difficult for an effective fighting strategy, as the City-States bickered and argued over where each force should go. When things looked bleakest for humans, where surrender seemed a certainty, a single man took charge. General Samuel Madine Rallied all the remaining forces of humanity, ignoring all politics, he rallied the humans under a single banner, of what is now known as the Human Alliance. Finally Organized, the Alliance forces began slowly driving the Armies of Equestria out of their Mainland. Meanwhile, the Alliance had assembled a formidable Navy formed from former Pirates, Smugglers, and Merchants. This force quickly gained control of the seas, cutting the Royal Armies off from Equestria Once the last Royal Army on the Human Mainland Surrendered, the Alliance turned their sights on Equestria, eager for revenge. In 1820, the Alliance launched a counter-Invasion on Equestria, their battle-hardened armies driving the Noble defenders of Equestria back. The tide turned once again in 1822 during the battle for Canterlot, when Princess Celestia herself involved herself in the battle. The Royal Armies drove the humans out of Equestria quickly after that. Seeing that further war would get them nowhere, both sides signed the Treaty of Canterlot in 1824, drawing the lines exactly where they were during the war. However, things had certainly changed. During the Conflict, Princess Luna, refusing to support the war, took many supports and went north, settling on an unclaimed continent. She took in many refuges, both pony and human, during and after the war. She founded the New Lunar Republic, a free nation for any who sought a refuge from the war. Celestia claimed her sister’s actions were foolish, and renamed Equestria the Solar Empire. This is where we find ourselves now. The Solar Empire, the New Lunar Republic, and the Human Alliance; all mistrusting one another, each continuing to build up weapons and militaries to prepare for what is seen as an inevitable second war. We can only hope they are incorrect -T. Sparkle, Head of Department of Information June 19th, 2013
