//------------------------------// // The incident // Story: Accord // by Vanillacider //------------------------------// Twilight opened her eyes, and all she could see was that something was wrong with this young pony. Her words were restructured, her sounds were all smooth it was so odd that nothing could her hysteria sooth. "Spike!" She did call, with panic in tone, and more did approach when all he did was moan. "Spike, you lazy reptile!" She said, he did not rise. "I need your help for a while!" He did not open his eyes. "The one time I need you to stop your sleep, I call and I call and you don't make a peep! I can't stop my rhymes, and I need you to help. Now get out of bed, you little whelp!" Spike rose with a groan, and eyed her with ire. "What's the problem, Twilight? I need my sleep. you kept me up last night with all of your studying. Now stop trying to make me think you can't stop rhyming or whatever. I'll see you in twenty minutes." Twilight stared with a furious stare, anger filled that staring mare. She was the only one rhyming against her will? It was not surprising, but still! Perhaps her friends could help to clean up this mess. If they could not, then she would be overcome by stress. "I have had similar troubles." said Fluttershy, nodding her head. "Tell me about what has happened to you!" Twilight said. Then before Twilight could finish her line, Fluttershy intervened; "I can't seem to stop rhyming, too!" "But your sentences are separate, their sounds incomplete!" "My rhymes must against yours compete." So the two went on their way, Rainbow Dash to seek. Twilight was confident, Fluttershy meek. So they found Rainbow, out clearing the clouds; And they shouted to her, being quite loud. Rainbow had been working all the day long, speaking to no-one, and knew nothing was wrong. "Hey guys, just been clearing these converging, crawly clusters of creamy, cottony cloud! I wish Wonderbolts would want to watch me work. Say, sound I not strange?" "Oh no," said Fluttershy, "It seems we're all quite deranged." So the three went to find Rarity, sure that she was affected as well, They went to the place where dresses she would sell. "What? Is there something wrong with the way that I speak? Do you say that I should sound strange, unnatural? For that is a lie! I won't fall for your strange ways! I have standards, oh yes I do. Now stop playing jokes." But it was not quite as normal as it seemed. For Rarity was more affected than she deemed. Her words were spoken with unnatural flow, Not faltering or wavering, yes, it was so. So she spoke in poem, but not in rhyme. "This is becoming quite a bad time." Pinkie Pie spoke, her face all a-smile. "Hey guys, watch this! I'll rhyme with him for a while!" For Pinkie makes rhymes, along with my own. "Hey, you can't always be alone!" Thank you, dear Pinkie, but this is my job. Please stay in the story, and my rhymes do not rob. Now the five went to find Applejack. For if anyone's rhymes where strange, it would be- crack. An apple fell from the tree up high, so high, in fact, it could have been sky. So Applejack opened her mouth, the others expected a rhyme, so what came out may have been a crime. "What're y'all looking at me like that for? Am I a ghost?" For she was unaffected! For no rhyme could she stammer That could stand against her horrendous grammar. Then the sky parted, lit by a pearly pink sheen, "Hey everyone! Look, it's the queen!" No, Pinkie, Celestia is a princess. I told you, with my rhymes, please do not mess. But yes, there was the pony, with wings and a horn, it was the great, the powerful, the Alicorn. Celestia walked toward the six ponies, her eyes all a-glow. She stood over them, smiling. "So! you all know now, except for Applejack, that you must now rhyme." Fluttershy nodded. "We do it all of the time!" The princess rolled her eyes. "I have made you rhyme, so that we may keep harmony and accord throughout the land. you six were my test subjects. Once this spell is complete, All ponies shall rhyme forever! And Discord will be one step closer to infinite darkness, and order will be kept." Rainbow stared. "But, doesn't that destroy independence? so we will want one world, one way, but freedom falls flat forever." Celestia glared, quite annoyed at the way of saying, She wanted to get started on the slaying. For as the six spoke, irksome they became, It sounded as if life had become a game. Celestia roared, her anger quite clear. Instilling their hearts with tentative fear. Enraged by the rhyming, though accord it did make, She lifted the spell for her sanity's sake. "But you're still rhyming!" Shouted Pinkie, her concern too fresh. For she does not know that I am of flesh. So farewell, dear Pinkie, for I must go, and Equestria I shall never again know. "Hey! Wait! Come back here! See... Umm.. I can still rhyme with you! See, Umm... Oh, I don't know!" Twilight stared, her eyebrows both raised. Pinkie's outburst had her quite fazed. For she was at a loss of what to do, "Um, Pinkie? Who are you talking to?"
