//------------------------------// // Chapter 1 // Story: Let This Day End // by tatony //------------------------------// “Wake up, wake up, good morning! It’s time for you to leave your bed! Get up, get dressed, get moving! We’ve got no time for sleepyheads!” Applejack’s eyes sprang open, slowly adjusting to the dark. She could see a figure hopping up and down at the foot of her bed. She didn’t need to see who it was; the shrill and overly-excited voice was a dead giveaway. “Buck up, buck up it’s a special day! It’s time for you to say hip, hip-hooray.” “Pinkie Pie, no, it’s too early for songs, come back tomorrow.” Applejack’s head was pounding, the night before was a blur, except for watching her Granny Smith dance on top of a table with a waiter. Or did she force the waiter to dance with her? “I can’t come back tomorrow, because today’s the day!” The pink pony continued hopping in the darkness. Her jumping was making Applejack feel ill. “C’mon we have to get you ready.” “Pinkie, please I don’t -“ “Oh, don’t worry about it;” She responded happily, “I’m happy to help. First off, we need to open these curtains.” She split the curtains open, letting the beautiful morning sunshine burst in. The rays hit Applejack like a pickaxe. She hid under her blanket, hoping it could provide some protection from the ghastly sun. “Othkay blamkeths.” Pinkie Pie said as she bit and whipped the blanket off of Applejack. “Pinkie no!” Applejack said as she covered herself with her hooves. “Ahh! Oh, um, I’m so sorry, um here’s your hat.” Her pink coat couldn’t hide the blush that appeared on her face. She tossed the hat onto the bed and turned around. Applejack secured her hat onto her head. “Alright, Ah’m decent. Thanks.” “Don’t mention it, ever please.” Pinkie turned around “Okay breakfast time, Granny Smith you finished with that breakfast yet?!” She heard no answer and walked out of the room. Applejack looked at herself in the mirror. “Mane a bit messy, coat shiny as ever, fantastic plot.” Applejack smiled to herself and shook her plot in the mirror. "Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle." Pinkie Pie entered the room with a large red mark on her forehead. “Oh um, Pinkie ah was just, just … what happened?” She asked hoping her friend didn’t see her little dance. “Granny Smith was sleeping; when I asked her to make breakfast she threw her dentures at me.” “Yeah, well you remember last night, don’t ya? No way is she getting up after that.” “Oh yeah, what a party, I’m surprised you even remember it, you and Big Mac would not quit with the cider and that stallion sure can hold his cider. Unlike, some ponies ...” She said nudging Applejack and giggling. “He even carried you and your granny home.” The clock began to chime. “Pinkie have you seen what time it is?” Applejack asked angrily, moving towards the bed. “Yep it’s wake-up o’ clock. You missed the sunrise; Derpy always did say it was beautiful.” “No, it’s 6 o’ clock. I’m going back to bed.” Applejack covered herself with the blanket. “No, no, no. Applejack it’s a big day we need to get you ready.” She wanted her friends to have a fantastic day and getting prepared was the most important part, no matter how early. “Ah need to get ready in four hours at the earliest and you need to let go back to sleep.” Applejack threw her pillow in Pinkie’s direction. “AJ you’re up already, c’mon lets go to Rarity’s, I bet she’s got your dress ready.” Pinkie Pie said opening the door. “Pinkie I’ll get mah dress later. Now let me go back to sleep.” “Wait. Wait, What about Fluttershy we need to make sure her birds are chirperiffic if they’re going to perform today.” “I’m sure they’re fine.” She tossed her hat off. “Oh um, wait! What about Twilight. We have to make sure her checklist is checked off, don’t want to forget anything now do we? Oh, but I guess she can’t really check everything off yet, you and Dashie still need to …” “Pinkie! Ah am going back to sleep, don’t make me get Big McIntosh up here.” “Ooh, is that a promise?” Pinkie said smiling closing her eyes.” “Ah, wait … what?” “Never mind, okay I’m sure you have everything under control, sleep tight.” Pinkie said closing the curtains and leaving the room. “Thank ye kindly.” Applejack closed her eyes as the door creaked shut. It flew back open. “Are you sure you don’t want me to stay here and keep an eye on you?” Pinkie asked. “No thanks Pinkie I’m sure I’ll be fine.” Pinkie left again. “Are you sure?” She asked running back in. “Yes and you can lock the door behind ya, thank you very much.” “Oh, sure thing.” Pinkie said leaving the room once more. Applejack heard her door thud and a quiet ouch. She smiled and nearly fell back to sleep, interrupted by a light tap on the window. “What now?” She groaned, getting up and peeking through the curtain. “Are you positive?” Pinkie asked floating, attached to several balloons. “Pinkie!” “Alright, Alright” Pinkie Pie floated away from Applejack’s window and towards Big McIntosh’s. ---- “Rainbow, Rainbow Dash it’s time to wake up.” Twilight said as she poked the pegasus’ forehead. “C’mon Dash, it’s a big a day.” She continued saying sweetly. Spike clapped his claws in front of face, waking her up. “Huh? Twilight, Spike what are you doing in my room?” Rainbow asked praying to Luna to let her go back to sleep. “You’re in my house Rainbow, remember, you wanted me to wake you up.” “Uh, okay, good job, now I want you to let me go back to sleep. Ready, set, go.” She closed her eyes and began snoring. “Rainbow wake up, we have to get ready.” Rarity put her hooves on Rainbow’s cheeks and shook her head. “Rarity? Why? How about I sleep instead, yeah, sleep sounds better.” “Rainbow! Now come on according to this book we need to make sure you look your best.” Twilight said holding for a copy of “Marriage for Eggheads.” “Best? I am the fastest pony in Equestria, that means I’m the best and therefore always look my best too.” Rainbow reached for the trashcan near her and began hacking into it. It seemed to be half-way filled with somepony’s sick. “I can easily see that,” Rarity said examining Rainbow Dash. “Let’s see: your eyes sure are a healthy red color, your pupils bloodshot. Mane and coat covered in, ehm, let’s just say you can’t hold your cider and your breath, an acceptable level of stench that can only be rivaled in Tatarus. I shan’t go on, though I can; Get up, we’re going to my place to make sure you can at least look presentable for tonight.” “You say tomato, I say tomato. I’m staying in bed.” “That joke doesn’t work like that darling. And if you don’t get up, Twilight and I will be forced to lift you up and drag by, um, force.” “No.” Dash held onto the bed’s headboard, determined to stay in bed. “Rainbow! Spike get the door.” Twilight’s horn began to glow, lifting the pegasus against her will. She managed to hang onto the headboard. “Rarity, a little help please.” Rarity added her strength to the spell. Rainbow tried to fly against them. She couldn’t break from their grasp. “No, no. Put me back in bed. Help! I’m being pony-napped.” Rainbow yelled as her friends levitated her out the door.
