A Ranger’s Choices Prologue: A Family Legacy

"So let's eat the books children! Go ahead, eat the books!"

Hey there my names Earthen Bonfire I'm an eggshell-white earth pony with a dark brown mane and a Bonfire cutie mark (not the kind you're thinking of but I'll explain that later). I'm here to tell you a story. This is the story of my life, and I’m writing it on my Bonfire. Though I think some explanations are in order.

We all know about PipBucks though few know of Bonfires despite their amaizingness. A Bonfire is a book. Well that's not entirely true it's-The Book. All the knowledge in Equestrian history reachable with the simple tap of a hoof. Bonfires were made by my great, great grandparents while working for the M.A.S. They were commissioned by the ministry mare herself. She wanted a device to store an entire library of information in a single book. But they didn't do it themselves; they were assisted by a Stable-tec researcher. Thanks to this they also have some of the PipBuck's minor features (but it could only have ones not requiring them to be attached to somepony such as a map and inventory management).

They were going to be available to the public. But then about a month before the unveiling it happened. The Balefire began. Due to this the only ponies with access to them were high ranked M.A.S. and those in Stable seven (located in what was formerly Manehattens upper district) where they were handed out as opposed to PipBucks.

But a few years ago that changed. The Steel Rangers came and offered an alliance. We gave them technology they gave us help. We for the most part agreed those who didn't were cast out into the cold of the wastes without so much as their Bonfire.

My story begins here I wasn't cast out though I joined them in unlocking the past’s secrets as a scribe. But a few years ago my life and the life of a good friend were turned upside down due to a single mission.
