The night went by quickly as I woke up awhile later. But it wasn't a pleasant wake up call. No far from it. It was terrible for me and Dash alike. I woke up to Dash twitching in her sleep whimpering and crying with her eyes closed tightly. I quickly grabbed her shoulders trying to wake her up by shaking her a bit yelling.
"DASH! DASH WAKE UP!" I yelled with fear in my voice. Dash was still in her nightmare. All I could hear beyond her whimpering was her saying.
"Daddy.......... Mommy....please stop....." That made me want to wake her up even more. Then I could only think of one thing to wake her up from this.
"I'm so sorry for this Dash." I said as I with alot of regret hit one of her wings. That's when her eyes shot open and she yelped in pain. But when she looked at me into my eyes she quickly wrapped her forelegs around me holding me close as she openly sobbed into my shoulder. I just held her close to me trying my best to calm her down. I rocked back and forth giving her soothing noises. I would give her a kiss on her head trying to calm her. It took awhile but she finally calmed down enough.
She pulled away from the hug but kept her forelegs around my shoulders. I looked into her eyes and saw that the one that was swollen the night before was now back to normal. I would never understand this world for the life of me.
"You ok now?" I asked. She just nodded as she wiped away her tears from her face. I just ran my right hand through her mane trying to show her how much I cared for her. I was so sad when I saw the state she was in yesterday and what had happened to her form her parents. I knew that it was her parents mainly from what kind of state Dash was in the night before and how she was whimpering from the nightmare that she was having. The sun was just starting to peek over the horizon and was showing a little bit of light through the small window.
"John.... thank you for what you did...and the risk you are going through." Dash said as she just leaned against my shoulder. I just put my arms around her and held her close. I knew the risk I was in and what would happen if I kept Dash with me. The parents could do anything. From contacting the royal guards to taking matters into their own hands. I didn't care what they would do and what could happen. If it came down to it I would rather die than let those....monsters have Dash for another second.
After awhile Dash pulled away from the hug. I then heard a knocking at the front door. I gave Dash a quick peck on the forehead and got up. Dash didn't seem to want to let me go because she kept one of her forehooves on my left hand. I went down the stairs with Dash slowly behind me. She stayed at the top of the stairs as I made my way downstairs. I walked to the door and opened it. Standing there was two royal guards. They had gold like armor around them along with blue like mane and tail. No emotion was in their faces.
“Can I help you?” I asked.
“We are here to take back Miss Rainbow Dash to her rightful parents. Her parents said that they came back home and saw that she was missing. They told us about you and we came as soon as we could seeing that we had to protect her from a person like you.” One of the guards said. I was in shock from this. Her parents really didn’t want me to be near her at all.
“So they blame me don’t they.....well then explain why last night I saw Rainbow Dash walk inside with a black eye and two broken wings. I helps her and i’m taking care of her. So it was her parents not me.” I said defending myself from blame.
“Well.....we have to hear it from her point of view first.” One of the guards said. I turned and saw that Dash was walking down the stairs and made her way beside me. I crouched down to her size.
“What do I have to do?” Dash asked one of the guards.
“Well if you don’t want us to take you back to your parents then you have to tell us exactly what happened first.” The guard replied.
“Do I have to tell you now or can it wait a while?” She asked.
“You have to tell us now. Or you can wait till your parents come and get you.” Damn these guards showed no mercy. I looked back at Dash who let out a sigh.
“Ok......ok I guess now it is then.” She then sat down as I did the same beside her. I wanted to know what those monsters did to her, but I also wanted to be there for her. I put my arm around her as she leaned into me. She then began the story on what happened.
“Ok.... how I got these broken wings was from my parents. As they flew away from John they just yelled at me. Saying one thing after another on how worried they were of me and were glad I was ok. For just a few seconds I thought they would’ve changed, but that wasn’t the case at all. As soon as we got to my house they threw me into the front door breaking it. Then my dad kicked me into the table that was in the living room breaking that as well. While I was on the ground both my mom and dad took both of my wings....then stepped on them with all the force they had. My wings were broken from that.” Her eyes got watery as she turned her head into my shoulder. I just gently put both my arms around her and held her close as she began to quietly cry. I looked up at the two guards that now instead of having no expression on their faces they had nothing but anger in their eyes.
“This is an outrage! John we are sorry for falsely accusing you of what happened to miss Dash. Pvt. We are going to the princess about this. We have a lot of work to do today.” The other guard nodded as the two immediately took off and went to canterlot. I was happy that they left to get the ones that did this to Dash. I looked down at Dash who was still crying. I never thought in my life that I would see her this way. I heard a noise and when I looked up I saw that it was Twilight along with the rest of her friends. I knew them all from the visits they did along with Dash. They all had a look of surprise on their faces. Fluttershy seemed to be close to tears. I turned my attention back to Dash who was slowly calming down from her breakdown. I could never imagine what she went through at the time. I mean even though I have only one eye for the rest of my life I did have parents that both cared and supported me all through my life I knew them. But from what I saw and heard Dash didn’t.
Dash the pulled away from the hug tears streaming down her face. I wiped away the tears and gave her a warm smile. She smiled back as she quickly leaned forward and placed her lips against mine. I just kissed back as we both closed our eyes. The kiss lasted for close to a minute until I pulled away.
“Thank you John. For everything you’ve done for me.” Dash said with a smile.
“Of course Dash. Anything for you.” I said as I pulled her into a hug. As I looked at her friends they all seemed to be smiling a little bit now. But I knew in my heart that this was only the beginning of what was to come and the challenges that we all would have to face. Mostly for the safety of Dash.
(AN:Ok well here it is. The next chapter and I guess this would count as the end of the first book or whatever. Now this WILL keep going just won't be that much of updates for a bit now because of my other fics and what’s going on right now. Oh this chapter is dedicated to a close friend who has a rough life and dealt with both terrible parents and near death experience.
