Psyche: PonyVille Madness

by Princess PonyLoid OW

It was such a quiet day

The sun was shining with all its might. The birds were singing their routine song. And all ponies were wearing smiles as their top accessory. Yes, today was a mighty bright day in Canterlot.
In the royal castle everypony was buzzing. They had work to do. Preparations for royal garden parties. Protecting the castle. Among other things.
It might sound easy to you. But it's harder than it looks.
Celestia was alongside Luna in their royal glory. Sitting at their thrones. Gazing through the windows. To admire the true happiness of all ponies below.
Celestia was reading her faithful student, Twilight Sparkle's letter for the day. About what she had experienced for today about the bliss of friendship.
"It's such a nice day out sister," said Luna gazing out to the kingdom. She admired how fillies run up and down about happily. And the happy couples that embraced each other near the fountain of glittering waters. And she sighed heavily.
"I wish we could go and have a stroll around the park."
Celestia paused briefly her reading. And gazed at her sister with new found pity in her eyes.
"I know I promised for a leisure day today sister.” Sighed Celestia. "But I need to stay until they inform us about any news."
And as if irony was lurking through their conversation, a chocolate coated guard blasted through the door. Fear in his eyes.
"Your majesty I have come with news!" He yelled frantically.
The two Princesses alarmed trotted near his limping body in the middle of the foyer.
"General," Pondered Celestia. "Are you alright? What happened?"
He took some time to take a breath. He looked like he had been persecuted in a wild fox hunt. His mane was all tangled up and drenched in sweat. While his coat was full of the stench and dirt that he had kicked off the ground.
He gasped in one more round of air. "There has been a sighting near the outskirts of Pony Ville. Your Majesty it's terrible."
The two Princesses were intrigued by what this guard had to say. A sighting? Near Pony Ville? The most peaceful town in all Equestria?
Luna was pacing around the nervous wreck of a guard. "Please do tell us. What is so horrible?"
His aqua eyes shot up with fear. And his legs quivered with the nervous energy over powering him. "T-There was an E-e-explosion!" He stammered. "There was lighting and thunder. Something fell from the very blue sky. It destroyed the scene. The grounds were breaking and there was an earthquake! Oh and what they have encountered!"
Celestia placed a comforting hoof on the general’s shoulder. One that said 'It's alright.'
"Please general." She said in her most soft voice."Speak no more. And just tell the others to bring me whatever they found. As soon as possible."
The general just stood up. His shaky hooves making it impossible for him to stay still. "Are you sure your Majesty?"
Celestia exchanged a glance with her sister. Luna gave her a look of worry. One that clearly said "I don't have a good feeling about this" As is she knew something is about to happen. What does she know?
"Have I ever been wrong?" Said Celestia. A reassuring but worried tone of voice.
Without hesitation the guard sprung out into the chase of his partners and the thing. Leaving the room with the echo of his hoof steps.
Luna kept glaring at her sister.
Celestia was bothered by such a stare."What is it?"
Luna followed her sister’s distraught steps to the throne. "You don't think?"
Celestia gave a hollow laugh. "Oh Luna." She said followed by a glare and an unsure smile. "I gave up hope that she would return long ago..."
Luna didn't respond. But on the other hand she has been hoping for the return. Even though she knew it might bring trouble. She wanted to see her. See if she can be a hope. Even though Equestria is full of peace and love. She would only bring trouble to all of it.

But Luna wanted to see her in the grown Woman she might already be. If she remembers the happy times they both had together. As long as she hears those words 'I remember and I'm happy about that.' Luna would be the happiest mare.

Celestia noticed Luna was lost in her little train of thoughts. "Sister!" She yelled. "Snap out of it! She would never return! And if she does the outcome won't be pretty."

Luna wiped away that salty water drop that threatened to fall at any moment. "But what if you're wrong?!" She snapped. Voice breaking slightly.

Celestia just continued with her trotting to sit at her throne. "I am never wrong."

“But,” Insisted Luna. Following her sister to her own seat. “Don’t you have that little hope that she will? Maybe Wonderland isn’t at all bad as we thought. And we are just worrying for nothing.”

Celestia just palmed her right hoof in her muzzle. “Luna! Haven’t you seen what happened to Equestria all these years? Nightmare Moon, discord, King Sombra! That is just influence from Wonderland. Good thing we had the elements of friendship to guide us. But imagine what it is beyond the horizon? You can’t hope for better things.”

At this point Luna couldn’t help it. What were just little drops now became a downfall. “But…” She sobbed. “We can’t just reject her! This is her mind after all.”

Celestia felt a heavy weight being left at her heart. Seeing her sister like this was horrible. She didn’t mean to see her cry.

Luna has a lot to learn. She doesn’t understand that what Celestia did was for the good of her people and their sanity. And Luna didn’t want to understand that.

Celestia embraced her sister warmly. Caressing her soft dark blue mane thoroughly.

“What makes you so sure she will come back?” She asked curiously. Luna was taking this too seriously. And sometimes they just didn’t bother to talk about the subject at all.

“I have vibes.” Replied her sister between sobs.

Celestia started to feel the warm tears around the corners of her eyes. “What worries me the most Luna?” She said. Starting to break out.

“Is the truth.”
