Celestia's Free Time

"I am simply to tell you that it has returned," said the guard.

Celestia gasped. "Find Princess Cadence and Shining Armor," she said to a nearby guard.

"Yes, your highness," he responded, taking him and his team away to go find the two ponies Celestia asked for.

Quickly levitating a pen and a quill in front of her, Celestia began to write. "My dearest Twilight," she said aloud, "You must come to Canterlot at once. I have a test for you."

Without another word, the letter was whisked away on a stream of magic, carried through the air to its recipient. Celestia let out a sigh of relief.

"Phew, for a second there I thought I might have to actually do something!"

The guard who had delivered the message looked at the princess quizzically. "But, you do have to do something, don't you?"

Celestia gave a small chuckle. "No, silly, it's simple, Twilight Sparkle and her friends will fix everything."

"But shouldn't you help?"

"Didn't you see me? I wrote a letter and I sent it to Twilight. Now she will come here and I will tell her what to do. Then she will do it and all my problems will be solved. You see, I am really doing ALL the work!"

"Well-"

"Hush, just accept it," said Celestia, her horn lighting up to levitate a nearby towel. The towel was flung over the guards face, smothering him with chloroform, causing him to drop to the floor. "I'm doing all the work," she said, throwing the guard out of the royal throne room.

She sat in her throne and awaited the arrival of Twilight.

"Then go, there is no time to lose."

Twilight gave a confident "Mhm" before the doors slammed shut, leaving her to go on her journey.

Luna gave Celestia a look of concern.

"Don't you think we should help Twilight?"

"Nah, she's got this, it's a test and all."

"Well, the fate of Equestria and potentially the life of Twilight are at stake, shouldn't we go and at least make sure everything goes well?"

Celestia chuckled. "Luna, you're overthinking this. We've done our part, or at least I have. I've shoved Twilight into a life threatening situation that I'm forcing her to solve for me, that's my job. I'm done."

Celestia bounded back to the throne and sat down. Luna followed slowly, eyeing her sister cautiously.

"Are you sure?"

"When I have been wrong?"

Luna did not wish to list off all the times.

"Well, what are you going to do now?" Luna asked.

"What am I going to do? Why, the same thing I do every time Twilight and her friends are busy solving my problems."

"And that is?"

"Dance party!"

Celestia did not give Luna a chance to respond, her horn was aglow within a moment and the portion of the room they were standing on started to sink.

"What is going on?" asked Luna.

"It's an elevator!" said Celestia. She smiled eagerly as the two princesses sank lower into the ground.

[Music:here]

As they went further, the sound of loud music became audible. Luna looked at Celestia inquisitively, but Celestia simple smiled and said, "Just wait."

Luna breathed rhythmically and slowly as they descended, her heart beating with the loud bass of the music. Each passing second the music pounded harder and harder against her ears.

Finally, the elevator dropped into a darkened room, lights of all colors twirling and dancing around the room. Creatures of all kinds, some that even Luna had never seen, were in the room, dancing to the music. Celestia, a veteran of the party room, signaled for Luna to follow.

As the music blasted and the dancers swayed, some started to take notice of the new partygoers.

"Hey, Berry Punch, fancy seeing you here!" called Celestia as the two sisters passed by the tipsy mare. She responded with an incoherent babble of words, and then stumbled away.

Celestia let out a laugh. Luna cowered behind her sister, never having seen many of the creatures on the dance floor before.

"Discord!" yelled Celestia. Luna's eyes bulged, and she ducked for cover.

"How have you been?" said Celestia. Discord smiled and walked over to give Celestia a hug, drink in hand.

"I've been just fine, how are the ponies? Do you need me to test their skills again?" he said, letting out a cackle. Celestia laughed, too, and then waved goodbye, telling Discord that she had to show Luna around.

Luna eyed Discord carefully as they passed by. "Sister, what is he doing here!"

Celestia giggled. "Oh, Luna, everybody comes to these parties."

Luna couldn't help but feel unsafe with a villain in the area.

"Chrysalis, come here!" yelled Celestia over the music. A head turned from within the crowd, and sure enough it was Chrysalis. The changeling queen buzzed over to Celestia, and the two embraced, giving false kisses and giggling more than was healthy, making small talk.

"I see you've brought Luna along this time," said Chrysalis.

"Indeed I have," responded Celestia, "She's a little antisocial though."

Luna looked angrily at her sister, but dared not speak in front of Chrysalis. The changeling queen laughed and said her goodbyes, flying back into the massive crowd that made up the dance floor.

"So, what is it that you do here? Shouldn't we be helping Twilight, or at least watching over her?"

"Oh, Luna. This is a party, we dance! Twilight will solve my problems on her own, don't worry."

"But there are villains here!" whined Luna.

"Please, Luna, dance parties know no villain."

Luna was not reassured. As the two sisters made their way to the bar, Celestia stopped on multiple occasions to say hi to friends such as Iron Will, Trixie, the diamond dogs, even King Sombra stopped by for a moment while he was on break from attacking the Crystal Empire.

"Sombra! My old pal, how has being a shadow treated you." Celestia held out a hoof for the dark stallion.

The king grunted. "Crystals, slaves, enemy, bad."

Celestia nodded. "I'm sorry to hear that. You should probably get back to crushing the crystal empire."

"Dance," grunted the king. Celestia giggled.

"Of course, there's always time to dance." Celestia and King Sombra found their way onto the dance floor, jumping to the music and dancing together.

Luna tried to chase after, but was blocked by the crowd. She hid away in a corner until Celestia was done with her dance. She came out of the crowd sweating and giddy.

"Phew, that was good. Luna!"

Luna came out of her hiding spot.

"Celestia, we should really get out of here."

"Nonsense!"

As the two sisters got their drinks from the bar, they sat on the stools and looked out into the crowd. Luna, not liking alcohol at all, got water.

"Hey," said a voice.

Celestia turned. It was Jesus!

"Jesus! Long time, no see!" yelled Celestia, leaning forward to give the human a hug.

"What in Equestria is that?" asked Luna in a hushed tone, making sure it couldn't hear her.

Celestia chuckled. "These parties are cross-dimensional, Luna, this is Jesus. He's a human."

Luna looked at the specimen carefully. "Well alright."

Jesus eyed Luna carefully. "I've never seen you before, you new?"

"Yes," said Luna quietly.

Jesus nodded. Then he snapped his fingers. "Have a drink."

Luna put her glass to her lips, and then immediately spit the liquid out. "This is wine!"

Celestia and Jesus both laughed and fist-hoofed. They said quick goodbyes and Jesus pushed himself off of the chair, disappearing into the crowd.

After hours upon hours of partying, meeting random people, ponies, and creatures, and dancing to exhaustion, the party finally ended for the two princesses when a guard scampered into the dance floor, calling their names.

"Your student Twilight Sparkle is on her way to the castle!"

Celestia's eyes widened. "Come, Luna, we must go."

Luna, relieved that she could finally leave the blaring music, blazing temperature, and dirty dancing behind, followed Celestia onto the elevator, and they left. Celestia waved goodbye to Chewbacca as they left.

When they arrived back in the Royal Castle, Celestia pushed Luna out of the throne room. A guard relayed to Celestia what had happened at the Crystal Empire, and the shine of lights in the sky confirmed that the empire had been saved. Celestia nodded at the guard's words. However, Spike saving the day was a blemish in her plans. She had to think quick to fix it, and as she did Twilight trudged into the room.

"Far better that I have a student that understands the meaning of, um, self sacrifice than one who only looks out for her own best interests."

Twilight smiled.

"Does, this mean..."

"Yes."

Twilight burst out of the room. Celestia could hear her exclaiming that she passed.

Celestia let out a sigh.

"I can't believe she bought that."

With a flicker of magic, Celestia was already on her way back to the dance party.
